Give me back my bodyguards: Prince Harry threatens legal action against the government and demands return of police protection because 'it is not safe for the Sussexes to return to UK for visits'

Daisend1 Sun 16-Jan-22 19:07:48

No one asked them to move.to the U.S and no doubt they can afford the best when it comes to protection.

Grandpanow Sun 16-Jan-22 19:02:02

The police can be hired by private parties. You can see freedom of information requests for previous agreements online

Anniebach Sun 16-Jan-22 18:55:14

Our police are not up for hire

Anniebach Sun 16-Jan-22 18:53:47

They trashed their family in the Oprah interview, he didn’t give a damn for his grandmother then.

Kathy73 Sun 16-Jan-22 18:47:44

It’s the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, and Harry is her grandson.

And, I repeat, they are asking to PAY for security. His mother died because of paparazzi.

Anniebach Sun 16-Jan-22 18:28:10

It’s still a holiday, he has criticised his father, has angered his brother, she was almost driven to suicide, they want to get on Buck house balcony in June .

Another chapter for his book

Kathy73 Sun 16-Jan-22 18:19:16

They are asking to PAY for protection to come here to see their family

Anniebach Sun 16-Jan-22 18:11:19

They are asking for police protection to come here for holidays

Chestnut Sun 16-Jan-22 18:10:36

Some wild assumptions here. All I am calling for is H&M to have Police protection for a few days at their own cost. They are very high profile people who are more at risk than most, and are closely connected to the Queen as Harry is the son of the heir to the throne. I wouldn't want the Queen to lose a grandson while he comes home for a visit.

There is no precedent for other random wealthy celebrities to have Police protection at all. They are not connected to the Royal Family.

Calendargirl Sun 16-Jan-22 17:53:18

I shouldn’t think the Queen loses sleep over whether or not she has met Lilibet.

Bet it matters a lot more to H&M.

I’m sure she has been included in future bequests, and treated the same as all the other great GC.

Prince Harry, like Prince Andrew is a private citizen. If one private citizen demands and gets police protection because they can legally be armed, which he pays fort. We will end up with every Russian Oligarch and jumped up celebrity demanding to be allowed to pay for armed police protection because if one private citizen can do so, why shouldn't any private citizen who can afford it? It will become a kind of status symbol.

Aspen

Even on a low key "private" visit, excellent chance to take a few photos of the children meeting there GGM.

What would they be worth if sold to OK magazine.

It’s a no win. Poor queen hasn’t met Lillibet. Queen will meet Lillibet … Ooh they are wanting a photo opportunity

I'm going to stick my head above the parapet and say I think he should be able to pay for Police protection whilst here in the UK.

Whatever we think of him, he and his children are direct blood line to the Queen and if they had stayed here would have had Police protection round the clock. They are only going to be here for a few days, would it really be too much to provide that protection for such a short time? They won't be here for weeks or months. And it won't come free.

A very fair comment IMO

Direct blood line to the Queen……Are they.? Can we be absolutely certain of that fact.

Please explain

Anniebach Sun 16-Jan-22 17:17:41

There are only 8 working members of the royal family,

Lucca Sun 16-Jan-22 17:17:01

Andrew should have police protection whilst in this legal battle.
Does anyone want The Queen to bury her son.

Or her grandson ?

luluaugust Sun 16-Jan-22 16:55:03

He has got bored with very little to do and presumably his supply of money is not keeping up with requirements. The D of Windsor did not come home for many years and then generally funerals. The RF does seem to be reducing all by itself.

trisher Sun 16-Jan-22 16:42:16

I think he was still what do facts have to do with this???

As far as his relationship to the monarchy goes he is the GC of the Queen but unlike the other GCs he will also be the son of a monarch, so in a slightly different position.

If we can't get rid of all of them I would like to see the RF considerably reduced.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 16-Jan-22 16:32:55

I thought Harry was asking for permission to pay for his own security in the UK.

nadateturbe Sun 16-Jan-22 15:48:21

I'm surprised at how little protection the RF seem to have.
I agree with Chestnut.

Jaberwok Sun 16-Jan-22 13:49:09

Diana after her divorce was not HRH. That title went at the same time, she lost her royal protection at her own request as she apparently believed that anyone hired by the RF would be spying on her.

Daisend1 Sun 16-Jan-22 13:48:40

Lemsip
Now who hmm might have given him that idea.?

Daisend1 Sun 16-Jan-22 13:38:20

Was he given protection on a more recent visit to the UK for the unveiling of the statue of his late mother HRH Diana Princess of Wales.?

Kamiso Sun 16-Jan-22 13:38:06

They are probably asking so they can do a woe is me chapter in Harry’s, what’s left to tell, fiction.

They’ve made it abundantly clear what they think about the RF and the British so best they stay as far away as possible.

None of their fiendish plots have worked out so they are now back on the scrounge.

seacliff Sun 16-Jan-22 13:30:42

I can't imagine them as a family all coming to the celebrations. Also the media would be all focussing on them, it would spoil things for the Queen. Not that that's bothered them in the past.

Anniebach Sun 16-Jan-22 13:23:49

He is a grandchild of the Queen, so are Zara and Peter, Beatrice
and Eugene. They don’t get security.
