Been discussed before, I know, but in the DT today, it seems that support for this to be the Duchess of Cornwall’s title in the fullness of time is ever more likely.

I, for one, would be pleased to see this happen. Princess Consort would be a silly title for the wife of the King.

I have never thought Charles will allow his beloved wife to hold an inferior title.

RF fraught the little people to be rulers still doing it.

£13million of public money on private flights and helicopter journeys!

Pollutants from helicopters are noise, carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxides, sulphur oxide, unburnt hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, particulate matter and soot. They are grossly fuel inefficient and the dust from them have immediate impact on health and wildlife habitats

I think camilla should be queen she seems to be a very compasionate kind and mature woman she would make a better queen than diana ever would

I have read a lot on the monarchy. Right back in the realms of time, up to the present day, there has not been a Royal Family without some sort of scandal. This is nothing new. It’s a shame that we can’t have a more Scandinavian style of monarchy. Indeed, some of them are related to our RF! As had been pointed out, when and if Charles gets to be King, Camilla will become Queen. Yes, officially she will be Queen Consort (as was the Queen Mother) but her title will be Queen Camilla. I don’t imagine William and Harry will be overjoyed, but that’s how things work. The Daily Mail and all who sail in her will have to go back to rubbishing Meghan again - I’m talking about after HM Queen’s death, obviously.

If you don’t care ‘about this stuff’ why do you want to be - enlightened?

Yammy

Yammy Camilla can’t be ‘just’ Queen in the same way that Phillip wasn’t King.
She won’t be the monarch.

I think that we are all aware of the awful things that are happening in the world

Then why was the queen's mother always known as the Queen and then the Queen mother? Is it something to do with the man being the king so his wife is queen and when the woman is queen her husband is only consort like Prince Albert? We have had Queen Mary and Alexandra.
Though somewhere I seem to remember William of Orange insisting on being king and not consort to Queen Mary.

Cards on the table - don't give a sh*t

But I do remember reading somewhere years ago that the whole King/Queen, Queen/Prince thing is related to a made-up list of precedence that's kept down the back of a sofa somewhere in Windsor.

In the case of ‘equal’ ranks, the male takes precedence over the female, so if the wife of a King becomes Queen that’s fine, the King’s still in charge. But if the husband of a Queen becomes King then she has to defer to him, so he becomes Prince instead.

Of course none of this makes any sense at all and could equally have come from a fever dream I had, but I’m sure there’s someone out there who cares about this stuff who can enlighten us.

Diana was brilliant at manipulating the media, her comment "There was 3 of us in this marriage" will go down in history as the truth, yet at the time, Charles went on TV and told Johnathan Dimbleby he hadn't resumed his relationship with Camilla untill his marriage had completely broken down. I for one believe him, for all his faults I don't think it's something he would go on TV and lie about. Camilla has said in the past she doesn't want to be Queen, she knows there will still be a lot of objections.

My phone won’t let me quote if there’s already a quote in the post. Either parents can leave their offspring with grandparents or they can’t. Time wasn’t mentioned initially.

Lucca @ 13:21 I can’t copy and paste all that, but that’s just reorganising the rules to suit the point you’re making.
Good idea. Must remember that one.

You have lost me. And you don’t need to copy and paste, just quote .

Poor Diana has been dead for over 25 years, let’s just let her rest in peace.
And Charles and Camilla have as much happiness as possible

Well said Fanny.

Thank you Molly
Can you imagine having your life scrutinised, from cradle to grave, and also those who you love.

Horrific, really

I agree. Yet it is a national sport followed by ardent Royalists.

Hear hear. Very distasteful.

Mollygo Sun 23-Jan-22 17:49:58

No I can’t imagine it. I’d hate to be famous enough for people to think they have a right to do it too. Long live anonymity.

I know that I’ve heartily joined in with these discussions; but I do think that we should just lay to rest the abortions and the affairs.
It’s all a little distasteful

lemsip Sun 23-Jan-22 16:40:17

Anniebach stop getting so excited!
diana was fed lies to destabilize her

23 Apr 2021 — Martin Bashir was allegedly joined by his BBC boss when he reportedly fed lies to Princess Diana to clinch her Panorama interview.

MissAdventure Sun 23-Jan-22 16:30:36

Sad it's still being bought up, even though she's long gone.
Again, I think it was what endeared her to some people, the fact that she had problems.

Anniebach Sun 23-Jan-22 15:33:27

What is forgotten is Diana also claimed he had affair with
Tiggy and she had an abortion.

Diana had mental health problems before she met Charles, she threw herself downstairs when pregnant but when single she
pushed her step mother downstairs, before she died she wasn’t
speaking to her mother, sister and brother. So sad.

rubysong Sun 23-Jan-22 15:20:02

'not be taken'

rubysong Sun 23-Jan-22 15:18:52

Yes, Camilla should be Queen. She shows all the right qualities when we see her doing her engagements. What happened in the past should be left in the past. How many of those who object to her have families without a broken relationship somewhere in them?
It appears the bracelet was a 'farewell' gift to Camilla and her relationship with Charles did not resume until 1986 when Diana had already had a couple of affairs. Diana's assertion that there were three in the marriage was led by Martin Bashir and now that we know how Bashir manipulated her feelings (which Prince William has told us) it should no be taken as reality.
