Why do I put on weight overnight
Why does my body temperature have a life of its own
Why can I wake up in a bad mood?

Nice one B! (except for 2. Maybe work on that?!!)

I don’t think I’ll ever stop worrying about them. Do parents stop worrying about their children?

FannyCornforth Thu 03-Feb-22 11:58:23

Sorry Tizliz, but I’m sure that we can discuss both.
I didn’t mean to offend you.

I worry about bins a lot ?

I’ll think of some more! smile

This was supposed to be light hearted, there are many serious things I worry about but I was more concerned about why I worry about silly things.

FannyCornforth Thu 03-Feb-22 11:52:07

In fact, the GAD is the reason why I chose not to have children.
I couldn’t have coped, and it would have been unfair on them

M0nica

I only worry when it is required. I do not have a generic worry habit.

I was diagnosed with Generalised Anxiety Disorder over thirty years ago, so I suppose I’m definitely at the top end of the Worry Scale.
I was even wracked with worry as small child

That is very good Urmstrongran.

I will remember that.

As someone once said (Mark Twain?) I've had a lot of worries in my life, most of which never happened.

Most of the worries that keep me awake in the middle of the night are family based

Urmstongran Thu 03-Feb-22 11:26:44

Re adult children, my late mum used to say to me “be there as a safety net ... they will drop into it if need”.
Good advice.

Kim19 Thu 03-Feb-22 11:22:40

When discussing our adult childrens' worrying predicaments, I always remember a friend saying 'sometimes it's best not to know so.....don't ask'. I've found this to be good advice over the years.

Getting dementia - that’s by far my greatest dread, health-wise.
Dh getting dementia, about equal.

That’s largely because both FiL and my mother had it - the former for 7-8 years, the latter for about 15 years, so I have far too much experience of that vile disease, and what it can mean in practice to close family.

My username stems from all that - I used a dementia-carers’ forum a great deal for several years, and couldn’t be bothered to change it when first joining GN

I think worrying is part of being human and almost impossible to stop doing, certainly in my case…

henetha Thu 03-Feb-22 10:50:34

I read this somewhere.
Worry is like riding a rocking horse, - where does it get you?

But it's still difficult to get off that horse, isn't it.

Allsorts Thu 03-Feb-22 10:47:43

Everyone, it’s draining, because you don’t help by over worrying, things have a habit of working out.

Serendipity22 Thu 03-Feb-22 10:47:10

We alllll worry, if we didn't worry we wouldn't care.

I think when worry involves our family, the fact that we are not in charge makes up a huge factor. We can no longer take the bull by the horns and deal with it.

We can worry ourselves stupid with all manner of things, situations and i find the saying why worry about things you can't alter a total waste of brain power in thinking the thing up in the first place.

We worry, worry, there is no answer, no cure.... we just worry ( Says she who worries when she nothing to worry about hahaha )

hmm

GrannyGravy13 Thu 03-Feb-22 10:44:56

I worry about everything and everything, I worry about events which happened years ago especially in the middle of the night.

In fact since the outbreak of Covid I have gone from easygoing, light hearted and outgoing to someone who is a professional worrier and could quiet happily become a hermit.

henetha Thu 03-Feb-22 10:09:03

Falling out with anyone in my family.
Having a stroke/heart attack while here alone.
War breaking out in Europe, or anywhere really.

shysal Thu 03-Feb-22 10:04:52

Other family members.

Who would look after my cats if I was hospitalised or worse? I hate the thought of them going to a rescue centre.

Will my excess weight damage my health? (Having trouble shifting it).

Kate1949 Thu 03-Feb-22 09:43:40

I'd be quicker to list the things I don't worry about.

Blossoming Thu 03-Feb-22 09:38:34

1. Will I solve today’s Wordle?

2. My nieces and nephews.

3. There isn’t a 3

FannyCornforth Thu 03-Feb-22 09:07:04

Tizliz I hate to break it to you, but you are an amateur at this sort of thing!

BlueSky yes, that’s more like it (unfortunately)

Add to that a vast cloak of existential angst and you’re on your way…

BlueSky Thu 03-Feb-22 08:40:03

Well where shall I start? I mainly worry about the health and well-being of my DH, AC, DGC . It’s never ending!
