I really hankered after one as we couldn’t afford an engagement ring and a house deposit so the ring lost out. For our twenty fifth anniversary I wanted to renew our vows and have an eternity ring. Hubby said no, getting married was something you only do once, when we took our vows he meant every word and didn’t need to do it again. Then he left me the year after! Years later when I met my current husband, I wasn’t ready to get engaged and married for quite a while but he hadn’t been married before and wanted to make a commitment so he bought me an eternity ring as a ‘commitment’ ring and we chose it to go with the engagement and wedding rings at a later date. So, in a way, mine means even more to me than the subsequent rings, not specifically as a ring but because he understood how badly hurt I had been and how understanding he was to let me go at my own pace with no pressure but with a ring to show we will be together for all eternity.
