Recognition for people who identify as felines?

According to LittleJohn in today’s Mail online Bristol University (where else) is demanding recognition for those who identify as felines. Have a read if you want a good laugh. I expect lots of catty observations! Actually I identify as a sleek strange black cat but I don’t like mice. Maybe I should see the cat psychiatrist?

I cannot leave laundry baskets of any shape or size round our cats because they wee in them. They must think they are special cat toilets. We had a beautiful cat who really thought he was a puma and attacked strangers on sight. Quite embarrassing.

In this pic I suspect he was identifying as laundry. A very nice boy but a few sandwiches short of a picnic.

Callistemon

And then there was Biggie here, who we suspect thought he was a dog, but that is yet another point grin

Elegran

And a good wash down with hot soapy water with a touch of bleach. We can't have you developing mould, can we? We'd better switch you off at the plug while we do that, water and electricity are a bad combination.

I'm disappointed. I thought I could just hang around in the kitchen and get to eat all the goodies.

DD2 dog sat over Christmas and DGS2 (3) loved the dog and now pretends to be a baby Moof (name of the dog). Should we be worried? ?

Maybee, ?

Remember the scene in Red Dwarf when cat is licking his clothes and when they ask him what he’s doing he says ‘ my laundry, of course’.

Grannmarie Wed 09-Feb-22 21:07:59

Sorry I can't do links, but do you remember Danny John Joules' excellent 'Cat' in Red Dwarf....brilliant!

I hope they are all trained to use a litter box.

What would be the rules at school for toilets? Boys/girls/litter boxes.

Or will they go and shit in the school flower beds like actual cats?

Blimey. DGS3 spent a couple of years identifying as a tiger, or an alien lion, or a giant robot dinosaur, but thankfully he grew out of it just as he started school. He scared a lot of other three year olds with his fearsome roars. He also once introduced himself to a girl in the park as "Hello, my name is Stupid Deaths", which went down well.

A cat though? Now I've got the awful vision of the cringeworthy George Galloway in the Big Brother house scorching my brain.

I’d quite like to identify as Julie Newmar in her Catwoman days. Same face, same figure and fitting into that fab leather cat suit. I can dream !!

TheOtherCatsMother Wed 09-Feb-22 18:20:37

I have always felt I would be a good alley cat. Sing to the moon and knock things over.

MissAdventure Wed 09-Feb-22 11:29:15

A lot of people have signed already, and are contacting the rspca too.

Sign the petition to get Kurt Zumba prosecuted for I’ll treating his cat regardless of if you identify as a feline.

After hearing about the fridge OH has just said he identifies as a Bank…..

FoghornLeghorn Tue 08-Feb-22 18:14:34

When I look at my pampered little madam, stretched out without a care in the world this sounds quite appealing tbh. Only thing is I’ll have to find a soft-hearted owner. ?

Witzend Tue 08-Feb-22 17:35:53

I think I might self-identify as a hedgehog, so I can hibernate until it’s more like spring.

SueDonim Tue 08-Feb-22 17:31:53

My youngest dd spent a lot of time as a cat when she was a toddler. I drew the line at licking her clean instead of plonking her in the bath.

It was marginally better than my oldest being a duck one summer. It’s a tad embarrassing having to flap your arms as though they’re wings when you’re taking the lift somewhere. ?

If I can come back as a cat, I’ll be my own overindulged beauty of a Russian Blue pedigree. He’s so gorgeous. ?

AGAA4 Tue 08-Feb-22 16:49:39

I think I will be Larry the cat from No 10. I could get up to all sorts of mischief there. Nobody notices the cat ? ?

Millie22 Tue 08-Feb-22 16:02:16

Actually that looks more like a mouse!

Millie22 Tue 08-Feb-22 16:01:12

I'm going to identify as a meercat. Just no ordinary cat you know ?

Thorntrees Tue 08-Feb-22 15:18:05

Reading this thread reminded me that years ago when at grammar school there was a girl in the same year who was convinced she had been a Cavalier spaniel belonging to King Charles 11.
She did have a look of one, having long red curly hair that hung round her face and big brown eyes. She had a very gentle way with her and I don’t remember anyone teasing her she was just one of the girls.
Haven’t thought about her for years so thank you OP for bringing the memory back.

MissAdventure Tue 08-Feb-22 15:07:11

I live close to a road..
I have had cats in the past, and they never came to any harm, but I can't bear the thought that they might get run over.
Saying that, there are lots of cats that wander around this area, and are fine.
