Thankyou Stilllearning I am fine though I was tired today and took a nap this afternoon.
You had a heart monitor fitted. This sounds stressful. I hope you are alright.

Good morning Mick and everybody. It’s cloudy and drizzly in my corner of Lancashire this morning but seems to be brightening up, currently 7°C.

Paperwork, usual physio exercises and a walk, weather permitting.

Your day sounds interesting Blue Balou, perhaps you’ll share a pic of any creation?

I’m glad you had a better day multicolourswapshop, Cocomademoiselle is one of my favourites too.

Good that the vertigo is improving Gagagran it’s such a horrible ailment.

Congratulations to your DD NannyJan53 you are rightly proud. Enjoy the party.

Glad you enjoyed your get together yesterday Marydoll and well done on the driving. It’s many years since I last had to navigate Glasgow roads and I’m sure it hasn’t got any easier!

Enjoy your weekend mumofmadboys, Catbells was one of my favourite walks when I was working in Cumbria pre brain injury.

Hope you enjoy your family get together Urms, there’ll be much to catch up on.

Good news about your SiL AGAA4.

Grammaretto I hope the fall hasn’t injured you, it does shake the confidence though.

I am very sorry Alegrias1 has left, ever the voice of reason and fact in so many debates. I understand why she doesn’t want to put up with the unpleasantness any longer. There’s ‘robust’ and then there’s downright rudeness! As has been said by many people recently, words have consequences and we should never forget there’s a human being with feelings behind that keyboard.

Wishing you all the best possible day. May all those with worries find some comfort and all who are under the weather find some relief. ?

NannyJan53 Sat 12-Feb-22 11:00:53

Thank you all for your kind words regarding my DD. X

Good morning Mick and all from a dull northwest coast. Anxious dreams, a coach driving off when I had left all my stuff in the hotel etc. Waking up to the usual Ukraine situation.
Bought daffodils which look half dead already and the unfriendliest florists in the U.K.
Going to clear the dining room table of music/art stuff as visitors tomorrow then Tuesday. I may even COOK!
Finished ‘Chloe’ last night and really enjoyed it, in a tense sort of way.
Thoughts to GrannySomerset multicolouredswapshop and anyone with troubles, will read through later.

Stilllearning Sat 12-Feb-22 10:46:20

Grammaretto I should have mentioned your fall, that’s a horrible experience, I hope you’re okay.

Nannagarra Sat 12-Feb-22 10:27:16

Congratulations NannyJan53 and Grandmadinosaur, proud mum and grandma respectively. Brilliant news.
Kim19 you now know about Alegrias1 so there is no need for me to explain. I shall miss her forensic approach, wisdom and wit. Though we had differing opinions on many matters, I sought and valued her posts. Sometimes I felt cheeky questioning her ideas yet I found it impossible to resist her enthusiastic engagement and her willingness to open my mind to other ideas. As such she is stand out. I hope with time she’ll be able to overlook the robust thread and decide to return. If you are able to contact her personally Marydoll I’d be grateful if you would pass on my sentiments.

Good morning from North Yorkshire. A little bit cloudy this morning. I’m not going out. The farmer is spreading something really smelly on the winter wheat just behind me. The tractor has just whizzed past by the back fence. Good job it’s not washing day!
Some admin to do after an excellent meeting at the parents’ group yesterday when CAB came to talk about benefits and bills.
Enjoy all the family time and trips happening today. For those not so well or on your own today flowers

Gwenisgreat1 Sat 12-Feb-22 09:59:39

Good Morning all from dry Harrogate.
Where is your nearest Waitrose,*Pant*? didn't know there was one anywhere near Llandudno?
Glad to hear your vertigo is subsiding, it's very unpleasant. Thankfully I haven't had it for quite some time. Congratulations are in order for your DD NannyJan
I hope no more than your pride was hurt in your fall Grammaretto. And you will be looking forward to your DH coming home soon? Multi
Yesterday thanks to GrannyOwl's pm about hearing the TV, I pursued the audiologist and they are sending me little microphone to use when eventually (2 -3 weeks) I get my new hearing aid!!!
All sorts of deliveries arrived yesterday, but not the printer we were hoping for. Must check DH's email to see if he worked it out properly. Had DGD yesterday, she kept busy with the pipe cleaners I bought from Home Bargains, making birds of paradise and spiders - a real bargain!
Yesterday, to my horror, I found a renewal form for my driving license 2 years ago!!! I was completely unaware of it and have occasionally been driving around in the 2 years since the form arrived!!! I imagine I shall have to retake the test, I'm not in the least bit confident about it since DH has been telling me for the last 52 years what a lousy driver I am.

Have the best day possible, folks!

Stilllearning Sat 12-Feb-22 09:58:29

Morning from S Lanarkshire, looks dull and damp. Congratulations to your DD NannyJan, and it sounds like a happy school which is a real bonus. I wish her success.

I had a 72 hour heart monitor fitted yesterday and slept a lot better than I expected so that was good. I then went straight from the appointment to meet my exercise class group for our postponed Christmas lunch which was lovely. Two people wore their Christmas clobber!

Today another lunch with a group of ex colleagues which was also postponed from December because one of us is being particularly cautious so I’m looking forward to that too.

Since I can’t take a shower till this monitor comes off on Monday I’ll quit when I’m ahead and stay home tomorrow!

Wishing multicolourswapshop better days and a good weekend to everyone ???

Good morning all from what was a bright but windy south Yorkshire but cloud is building on the horizon! A few sewing and greenhouse jobs planned today. Ddil1 would really like me to accompany her to a party dgd1 is attending....I am so far resisting but may relent. I am not a fan on kids parties at the best of times and does nothing for my germ phobia! Have a good day all

BlueSapphire Sat 12-Feb-22 09:50:33

Good morning from bright and dry Northampton. Up later again this morning, trying to make the day seem a bit shorter.

Had an enjoyable shopping trip yesterday; I went much later than usual, so had lunch in M&S Cafe, and after a mooch around the shops got home mid afternoon. Went into Boots for some tissues and the assistant offered me a free bottle of anti-bacterial handwash, which was gratefully received. Tried to spend my gift card in Next, but nothing took my fancy. Then browsed around Sainsbury's clothes, but came home with a new cat food and a bottle of sherry instead!

Will have a walk to the garden centre this afternoon as I have a voucher to spend and see what they've got. Will probably have a coffee while I'm there as I have a free hot drink card. Rugby will be recorded. Sadly my lucky socks did not work yesterday.....

Congratulations to the new head teacher, NannyJan; you must be one proud mum!

A pleasant Saturday to all.

GrannyOwl5 Sat 12-Feb-22 09:31:40

Morning everyone from a bright and breezy north Kent coast.

A bitty day today; a bit of this and a bit of that. DH is building a raised vegetable section at the top of the back garden so will hover around giving my approval and support to encourage him. I have recently tried painting with acrylics so will have a go at a seascape hoping it will avoid being dumped in the bin like the last attempt did ?.

Congratulations to your daughter NannyJan, a great achievement.

Hope EV gets the green light to rejoin; I miss reading the crumpet queen’s posts.

Have a good day everyone

EkwaNimitee Sat 12-Feb-22 09:16:36

And NannyJan, congratulations to your daughter, it's great to hear of someone enjoying their work and being successful in it.

AGAA4 Sat 12-Feb-22 09:16:29

Good morning from a windy North Wales.
Good news yesterday. The nodules in my SiLs throat turned out to be non cancerous. We have had an anxious few weeks as the doctor suspected cancer so all very relieved.
I, too, am sorry that Alegrias has left. Also sorry EV is banished, but hopefully not for too long?
Have a good Saturday everyone. Wishing ☀️ to all and especially those who are not well or have worries.

EkwaNimitee Sat 12-Feb-22 09:13:25

Good morning Mick and all from grey showery Carlisle. Gardening or walking are unlikely today. I have a new work of art to hang plus another 2 pieces and there will still be plenty of wall space left to buy more for. Otherwise, admin, browsing the web for more plants and probably a long chat with my sister in Nottingham.
I phoned the surgery yesterday hoping for the results of the MRI scan on my head. The doc has surveyed it and marked it for no further action. No abnormalities found. I wonder if they were going to ever contact me with that information. My main concern was not with possible abnormalities, I never thought there were problems, but that the investigation was delaying my getting holiday insurance! I went straightaway and got some. Now my thoughts are turning to other possible little trips but the one to Kiev is out for the moment.
Do have a good weekend everyone.

Grandmadinosaur Sat 12-Feb-22 09:00:09

Good morning from East Yorkshire. It is now windy and drizzly after a beautiful sky at 7.15.
Our plans today were for for a trip to Beverley so not sure if we will have a rethink once His Lordship surfaces downstairs.
I had an emergency call to collect GS from school yesterday. I was thrilled when he came out waving his certificate for Star of the week. We are all so proud of him and he is coming on in leaps and bounds.

Congrats to your daughter NannyJan I can feel your pride too.

Take care everyone.

ShazzaKanazza Sat 12-Feb-22 08:47:49

Good morning Mick and everyone in a dull windy rainy old Hull. Just read all your posts. It always makes my morning instead of reading the news.
I was interrupted ten mins into my zoom yoga yesterday by a friend who I’ve not seen for ages. So had a cuppa and a long catch up. So she sat there looking fantastic and me I sat there in my fitness gear needing a shower. But it was great to have a natter.
Today DH is cooking a full English lunch for DS and GS then this afternoon a visit to DDs for a cuddle with DGD.
Have a lovely Saturday everyone take care.

Marydoll Sat 12-Feb-22 08:41:57

Thank Grammaretto. I have a suspicion that the meds I stopped, where contributing to how unwell I felt.
Everything is relative. I am still feeling very unwell, but nothing compared to a few weeks ago, thank goodness!
There is a glimmer at the end of the tunnel at last!

Snowdrops are such pretty flowers and a symbol for me of spring. Hoping your coffee morning will be a success.

FannyCornforth Sat 12-Feb-22 08:38:45

Good morning everyone
Mary I have sent you a pm thanksbrew

I’m really sad that Alegrias has left.
She was one of my favourite contributors.
I remember that I ‘refused to argue’ with her, and we really got on from them.
She is very funny and clever.
I really hope that she returns.

Have a peaceful and pleasant day everyone x

GrannySomerset Sat 12-Feb-22 08:36:22

An absolutely blank day ahead but something will fill it I expect. This long wait for DH’s funeral is a mixed blessing - time to get the details right but impossible to think beyond it. I need to build a new version of life but lack the impetus just now.

Very glad that so much normality is returning though still feel a personal need to be cautious for a bit longer. Am sure I am not alone in this.

Grandmabatty Sat 12-Feb-22 08:34:37

Good morning all from Polmont. 7° here and a return to grey skies. NannyJan huge congratulations to your daughter on her appointment. I hope you find the missing gift Marydoll.
Yesterday was full on grandma duties. I had dgs1 for most of the day. Dd said he was really excited he was coming to my house. We were at the park and he was concerned because the pond had frozen so the ducks were struggling to move freely. He kept saying, "Poor ducks." It was very busy with lots of people out walking etc. Then we played in my garden. After I took him home, I fed dgs2 and got him to sleep.
Today I'm doing nothing as I have a muzzy head. I'll potter about and get housework done. Have a good day all.

Grammaretto Sat 12-Feb-22 08:34:09

Good Morning everyone from the Scottish Borders where it is very windy but no trees down, touch wood. excuse the pun
I am about to pick snowdrops to decorate the tables in the town hall for our Saturday coffee morning.
Things are slowly returning to how they used to be.
I have to wear a facemask while I am serving which I don't like, but there are worse things.

First I must clean the mud off my coat from when I fell in it yesterday. I landed splat in a slippery patch.

NannyJan How proud you must be! I hope your DD continues to enjoy her job.

Marydoll you sound so much better than you did a few weeks ago. The mix of what some new meds and good company can do. smile

Have a nice weekend everyone.

cornergran Sat 12-Feb-22 08:27:28

Morning Mick, morning All from a dry, breezy corner of Somerset

Slow start today after a couple of busy days. One spent helping a son with his house renovations, the other getting a headache understanding the foibles of the new tv. Why so complex? I prefer wallpaper stripping! Rewarding ourselves with a wander around this morning involving coffee and cake followed by a quiet afternoon.

Always sorry to read anyone has been banished. Thinking of all struggling just now. Have the best day you can everyone.

Lins1066 Sat 12-Feb-22 08:21:05

Good morning all from our corner of the S Welsh coast.
Lovely visit yesterday to see our three week old dgd, she's a poppet.
We took the little dog for a walk down the beach at dusk, there were a few surfers and a paddle boarder enjoying the water.
Well done to NannyJan's DD.
Enjoy Saturday everyone and take care.

Marydoll Sat 12-Feb-22 08:19:41

Congratulations to your DD, Nannyjan, what a great achievement. If it is anything like interviews when I was teaching, it was a great achievement to even be selected for interview, let alone be successful. ⭐

Alegrias has left permanently, which is pity. I rarely agreed with her and she with me, but we always respected each other's right to post our views.
She was in contact with me and said she was leaving permanently, after a particularly robust thread had upset her.

As for EV, I have always admired her forthright posts. In the past I have had some lovely and kind PMs from her. Haste ye back!

Baubles, I was parked outside some classy charity shops yesterday, but resisted going in for a look.
I'm still in the midst of my Swedish death clean!?
