I don't know why I am because no one around me seems worried.

I've secured all my bins and garden furniture!

Am in what was amber, but is now Red zone ( Berks). Went to supermarket to do planned weekly shop at 8.30 am when it was quite calm. At that time I'm usually just considering getting up normally!
Very strong winds, now - it was bin day so we've been playing Bin Rugby in the street - fortunately it's a cul de sac so not too much traffic.
Two real worries - powercuts , as there have been some only a few miles away.
And trees - have 2 extremely massive conifers in the back garden, plus some other quite large ones. Very anxious re how safe they are, and how safe my neighbours and I are!!

My daughter tied the garden chairs to the heavy metal and glass table on the patio. We just watched the table, chairs and all take off over 2 foot high obstacles and land 12ft away in a flower bed, halted by a clump of bamboo!

our local council is obsessed with trees and we have a few with TPOs. Cannot touch them

That's weird - we have two trees with TPOs and get them pruned every five years. The Council have to agree with the amount that comes off but they've never argued yet.

A34 now closed in Hampshire, tree down, this is a major road, chaos.
Nannapat1 not sure if you’re travelling on?

We are in North Devon and pretty fierce here now . Friends have already lost power but so far alright but rescued the bin , full, earlier from under the car. Traffic racing about even though people have been urged to stay indoors. Friends less than a mile away just saw next doors tree go through their car and felt lucky hers is in the garage . Another friend is on the Isle of Wight and has just watched the ferry moving sideways! Staying in for now but SO NOISY

Here in Co.Antrim we have had sleet and its just a wee bit windy. I've been watching the news and it looks really horrendous in other places. Please take care everyone.

Love it LauraNorderr ?

Because I work in a school that is closed today due to the storm , I have an unexpected day at home . I got up with lots of ideas as to how to fill it . Finally sort my wardrobe out , go through the hundreds of photos lurking in a blanket box , do some washing , spring(?!) clean .
Guess what , I couldn’t be bothered ? I’ve drunk copious amounts of tea , read and pursued gn! Instead .

North South divide perhaps but I felt that, when Storm Arwen hit, central government weren’t interested. Was ages before a state of emergency was announced.

We are in the Red zone and on the coast, there are still absolute idiots who go down to the sea and take chances on the beach, one woman today got swept into the sea then others had to rescue her, I'd have left her where she was, so so stupid.

The top of my back fence, which is formed of trellis has been blown over in London. Two of the panels have begun to lift out of the concrete posts. Very windy here.

Red zone South East now seeing branches fall from trees and bins blown about.

Re: Severe Weather Warning [above] just went to check outside - bare chested! PS: not really.

B9exchange
My DH has been watching also. The pilots are amazing and some bumpy landings!

Our large oak tree is making me a little nervous.

LauraNorderr Fri 18-Feb-22 13:33:44

At risk of promoting north south divide

wetflannel Fri 18-Feb-22 13:31:30

I'm in South Devon so red warning, fortunately so far everything is intact. Although someone has a huge eucalyptus tree swaying wildly, which I am concerned about as it would take out our garage and garden. Hoping it eases off soon. ?

When I saw the Red alert come up for East of England cancelled my cats Vet appt hoping she will be ok till the next I could get on Tuesday! My brother agreed as he was going to take us. We are on the East coast & very exposed so used to strong winds but this is just a bit too strong now. 122mph on Isle of Wight is scary! Glad I am in a bungalow but think my side fence is going down. My lovely Twisted Willow may not make it either as it is blowing right across it poor tree! Not one of the pleasures of living by the sea right now. Hope my chimney holds up too as no joke if that goes as here on my own wouldnt know which way to run first! Hope it is over soon. Stay safe everybody!

Nannapat1 Fri 18-Feb-22 13:29:42

Well today is the day and we're sat on ferry waiting to get clearance from Southampton to leave the IoW,so I would have reason to be anxious, but it is what it is!

DeeJaysMum Fri 18-Feb-22 13:26:36

Middle of Birmingham, not done anything re bins/garden furniture.
Been out to the shops a couple of hours ago, it's just a bit windy.

grandtanteJE65 Fri 18-Feb-22 13:26:19

I am concerned about the roof that was damaged in the last storm and that we have had no possiblity of repairing yet, due to incessant rain.

We have piled heavy objects onto the loose metal sheet and are keeping our fingers crossed.

Our wheelie bins are plastic, so I assume they will be blown over. As both have been emptied recently that should not be dangerous. Nothing to lash them to, anyway.

All windows shut and outer doors locked. No tools outside, our bikes are in the garage and I have fetched a garden ornament in.

Here it is raining heavily, but as yet the wind is not too strong.

WildRoses Fri 18-Feb-22 13:23:54

I'm in Yorkshire and there's not even a gust of wind to be seen. I hope the rest of you are all ok.

Sparklefizz Fri 18-Feb-22 13:22:38

So sorry for those without power which is miserable. Thoughts go out to you BBbevan what with a long power cut and then also a tree down.

Stay safe everyone, and be careful.

B9exchange Fri 18-Feb-22 13:22:11

I have just been watching the live feed from Heathrow on YouTube, the skill of those pilots is amazing, but lots of go arounds!

Sparklefizz Fri 18-Feb-22 13:21:01

A friend in Salisbury has lost some ridge tiles from his roof which crashed into the road, along with some guttering and the top of a downpipe. He is trying to stay upright in the wind to take photos for the insurance.

BBbevan Fri 18-Feb-22 13:16:50

Well that was scary. No electricity for8 hours. Heated water and soup on the log burner, and a tree has come down across our and a neighbours drive. And it is still windy although the sun is out now. Good lick to all in SE England as I believe Eunice is coming your way.

karmalady Fri 18-Feb-22 13:12:56

red warning is now amber, red winds were very bad for 6 full hours. Still not brilliant but I am glad to be out of red. I can hear bumps and bangs from time to time, will be quite some damage out and about
