Is anyone else a little bit anxious about the storm tomorrow?

I was expecting it might have eased by now, because I said I’d go into work this afternoon, but the gusts seem to be getting stronger.
My main worry is the trampoline, followed by tall trees, followed by garden furniture.
We had one of those winter covers on the table, and the wind has absolutely shredded it, there are bits of it all over the garden.

I'm in London and even though we tied down everything we could, we now have a parasol split into three pieces and a very large shrub/tree that has split about a foot from the base. My son is currently outside chopping it down before it smashes anything else.

The bungalow at the bottom of my garden has got someone’s Astro turf on their roof and a fence panel.
I must admit I got a bit jittery this morning. Doing some diy painting and the conservatory ( solid roof ) was making some loud noises so I put my phone and car keys in my pocket incase I had to make a run for it ?

Red zone for us. Howling winds and loose tiles now on the roof. Luckily we still have electricity at the moment. Everything closed round here - roads, schools, shops etc. says it won’t improve until 6 oclock tonight. But we’re safe and warm at the moment. Long may that last.

We try not to fret about things out of our control. But have moved pots and garden seating to a sheltered area. Staying in. Friends in the south are saying small trees and shrubs are almost bending double in the garden and that their local radio have reported people on the seafront. We just hope that it doesn't cause too much damage or heartache for folks.

My daughter just told me the Humber Bridge will be closed from 1.30pm.

Sorry to all of you who have real cause for concern, have no power or who are suffering in other ways as a result of the storm.
I have been hiding indoors. I thought I'd secured most things outside last night, and parked the car well away from trees etc. However, a gate flew off its hinges and smashed into the back of the vehicle this morning
Fortunately, have insurance- but the excess will still cost me well over £100.....
To cheer me up the underwriters told me that someone else fortunate enough to have a garage (where he carefully put his car yesterday in anticipation of the bad weather) was unlucky enough to be close to a nearby tree. This was uprooted, and it smashed into the garage, which collapsed on to the car.
Nobody hurt, thankfully. But I suspect his bill will be more than a couple of hundred pounds....

Just before I head off to work, the Sun has come out,we have had very little rain and the wind does seem to be dying down a bit but maybe I’m tempting Providence. I am in North Devon District in the red zone..

Stay safe everyone! Hope no one loses power. Last time we had a bad storm we were a week with no power at all, it was horrible. We weren’t supposed to visit anyone because of Covid but we said, sod them, and we went for a hot meal and shower to our daughter’s.

I hope everyone stays safe. An earlier poster said she felt comfortable as her house is new. I feel safe because my house is old - as it has withstood so much over one hundred and thirty years, without so much as a crack, it isn't going anywhere.

Oh and Wi-Fi and the bird table gone.

Am now in red zone with a test at a hospital in an hour or two - peak storm time!

I spoke to the hospital earlier asking if, now the command is not to leave home, were they going ahead with procedures and yes, they are. I wondered if they had the requisite staffing etc.

Trains all have severe delays so we have to drive in.

Wish us luck.......

No as we are staying in. But bins might blow over again.Have no rope to lash them together?

Re fence..we had one that repeatedly blew out every big storm I realised nature was telling me to plant a hedge.. its been no problem since!

Winds of 122 mph recorded on Isle of Wight. OMG that’s incredible.

I don't think we are right on the path but it is very worrying. my daughter messaged me last night she is working in the community today she works as a carer some days so I am worrying until I know she is home and safe. I wish it was a day when she working in the office instead.
I understand the children are off school as a precaution which is a good idea.
finally, the dogs keep woofing at all the noise outside so driving us all mad!

My daughter is in Belfast Zuika and had to be in work for 12 noon, I hope she's got there safely.

Have just lost my lovely old cherry tree. Snapped off mid trunk just as it was beginning to come into blossom. I wasn’t a fruiting cherry but one with those lovely deep red leaves. Hoping my roof tiles stay put!

I'm living here in NW Ireland and I'm just hunkering down until it passes. It's fairly wild out there but I think Southern areas of the British Isles are are getting hit harder. It's very windy and bitterly cold but so far no really violent gusts. I'm very lucky I've wonderful neighbours and they called in yesterday to make sure I have everything I needed ahead of today in case of floods, no electricity or whatever. So far so good I'm just staying indoors with my two dogs and my cat and keeping warm listening to the wind howling away outside my door. There's a great saying here when the weather is rough "It's a day for the fire" and today is just that. Stay warm and keep safe everyone!

I am sitting in my lounge terrified a massive tree is going to uproot and land on my building! I’m on the edge of the red zone! I can’t do anything about it as I can’t go out either! Stay safe everyone x

I am in a fairly sheltered/safe (?) area of Swindon, and I am scared... fences going over and goodness knows what else.

Were in the red zone but the bungalows across the end of our street seems to be sheltering us a bit, but still getting strong gusts. So far there hasn't been any damage that I can see. I'm more worried about DD as she has to work and she works near the seafront.
