Not sure if I am allowed to ask this on here.....

As a fairly newish poster I may be breaking Gransnet rules by asking this question but here goes. Alegrias1 is a frequent and lively poster on here, usually on the more in-depth topics but I haven't seen any responses from her in a while. I have been wondering if she is ok. I hope she is.

I assume that if a poster closes there account they can reregister if they change their mind? It's quite rare for long-standing and vociferous posters to disappear altogether.

Having said that, where is Chewbacca?

I miss both Alegrias and Lemongrove. Opposite sides of many arguments but so what. It’s good to have different viewpoints expressed.

Lucca

Galaxy

Whatever the reason I will miss her contributions in particular in relation to covid .

I already do. She has left please let’s not continue to criticise her ! For the record there was a lot more to her decision than the SNP thread

Lucca, spot on!

Lemongrove has disappeared too. I don’t know why but anyone who supports the Conservatives, as she does, like me, gets short shrift on here.

Oh, come off it!

Lemon is a long-standing member who can give as good as she gets - I hope she returns as she used to post on various subjects without rancour despite being a Tory grin

And I hope Alegrias also returns - she was baited and surprisingly rose to it.

Anyway, there's room for us all - it's only a chat forum for grannies and other oldies.

I miss Alegrias very much. She was one of the few posters I would always read. Her comments were always well researched, clear and fairly concise. She never struck me as getting annoyed with alternative views, I think she enjoyed the arguments, but she did used to get annoyed about people not bothering to read the thread and take notice of what other people had posted. She could also be very funny. I hope she's doing something interesting.

Libman, ?

I am sorry that Lemongrove has left and Germanshepherds mum, I agree with you.

JaneJudge Tue 22-Feb-22 11:56:41

we all bow to your superior knowledge grin

actually though, I don't find any of you intimidating - which is just as well, especially with all the crossing of sauce

????

Did she know anything about William Morris though?

?

I am going to be tarred with the WM brush forever?.

Marydoll

She has cancelled her account

Oh. That's a shame. I also found her (Algerias) well-informed and interesting.

I crossed sauce with her a couple of times but enjoyed reading her comments…

I honestly thought that this was an Essex thing!

I really miss Alegrias too. She is clever and funny.
I do hope that she comes back.
And yes, as Lucca says, it wasn’t because she was unable to take criticism

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 22-Feb-22 11:51:19

What do you mean Lucca?

JaneJudge Tue 22-Feb-22 11:50:50

I miss her too. I am quite a sensitive person but never found her intimidating at all grin wtf

Libman Tue 22-Feb-22 11:49:45

There are some very knowledgeable posters on this forum who could teach me a lot about politics- an area I am embarrassed to say I have never paid much attention to BUT the way in which that information is often given can be very intimidating. I can understand people being passionate about their beliefs but there is no place for making belittling comments, offensive remarks to those who have different beliefs or who may be a bit naive. Far better to educate than alienate in my opinion. And that is just my opinion ?

Galaxy Tue 22-Feb-22 11:48:17

grin that was brilliant Shinamae.

Shinamae Tue 22-Feb-22 11:47:30

Thank you GN's. I didn't want to pry or need personal details but I missed her. Please don't post unpleasant things about her. That was never my intention. I didn't always agree with her views but that's what a healthy discussion is all about, I thought. She had quite a lot of knowledge on varied topics.

Galaxy Tue 22-Feb-22 11:39:37

I enjoyed the fact that she had lots of scientific knowledge but also recognised the civil liberties issues with regard to vaccine mandates etc.

Pepper59 Tue 22-Feb-22 11:39:21

The thing is not everyone is going to agree on everything.

It seems a bit OTT if it’s about criticism of Scottish independence. I could just as easily do the same due to the Tory bashing.
