Mr C is now 79 dusty. We had some hilarity when one of ours decided he was going to be 80. grin.

madeleine45 Fri 25-Feb-22 15:45:52

good news grandMattie and hope it all continues well. Mick should be having a good day so long as he has a warm coat on. It is lovely and bright here in north yorks but a cold wind and you need to be well wrapped up but still dry and clear. Bad night so went swimming at 6,45am . sounds a bit mad but they put me in with a chair and once I get going it is less painful, so did that and went to get a bit of shopping and then back home. Very sad about Ukraine and also the poor russian soldiers , who do not want to be forced into this fight, so it is the Kremlin that is pushing it all. A very sad day for all these poor people.

I think I must have crossed posts with you earlier GM, I’m very pleased to see that both Iris and your husband are so much better. I too appreciated your prayer for the children of the Ukraine.
I can’t see the news at the moment but oh my word I can hear it and it sounds horrendous.

Happy Birthday to Mr. Corner. I don’t know what ripe old age he has got to but next month it is both mine and DH’s and all shall be revealed, agewise I mean!

I see mentions of eye brow tints and visits to the podiatrist also a haircut, all planned to be achieved by end of day today, and my plans have gone completely haywire. Hopefully life will get back to reasonably normal sometime.

Marydoll I know I wanted to say something to you but my brain is in need of rest again, I’m enjoying hearing about the wedding plans though.
Thank you for all the good wishes, I’m certainly resting as I have no choice at the moment.

Beautiful prayer Ashcombe. I’m at york hospital just now. Waiting for my appointment. The weather is gorgeous outside Mick. Enjoy your break

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Feelingmyage55 Fri 25-Feb-22 11:18:41

Good morning from dare I say it a sunny north of Scotland. Bitterly cold and icy but there are snowdrops peeping through.
Mick, have a lovely time in York. I have not been and need to make an effort. It is a direct train. Something to plan.
Some positive stories this morning which we all need in the face of the news. Ashcombe thank you; I have copied the prayer.
I’m off to pick up some basics. The Tesco site won’t let me order a delivery again. Some treats will jump into my basket. Online is more controllable.
Have the best day you can.

A beautiful sunny cold morning in Oxfordshire. Just heard DS2 and DiL have tested +ve for covid. Thankfully they're not too ill and haven't had recent contact with DD1. I'm still suffering with non covid cold, feeling very under the weather. Could be worse though.
Happy Friday to all!

How very kind and thoughtful of you hollysteers I hope your trip will be appreciated, safe journey.

Blossoming Fri 25-Feb-22 10:13:58

Good morning Mick and everybody. It’s sunny and bright in my corner of Lancashire this morning, currently 7°C.

Enjoy your trip Mick.

Glad the news is good GrandMattie and you slept well.

Happy Birthday to MrCornergran.

Good news about the dentist visit Gagagran, hope the vertigo is receding now.

Lots of grans seeing family and friends, enjoy the time with them now after so much disruption.

I’m off to the salon this morning for a trim and tidy up. Housework this afternoon.

Wishing you all the best possible day. May all those with worries find some comfort and all who are under the weather find some relief. ?

hollysteers Fri 25-Feb-22 09:39:53

Good morning Mick and all from a sunny Suet on Sea, northwest coast.
Off to spend the day with depressed friend 50 miles away. Had detached retina op, waiting for the other to be done. He teaches piano, illustrates and is my accompanist. Don’t know what’s going to happen to concerts in the spring.
He said he’s in a mess, I sent him ready meals but don’t fancy cleaning up etc, can hardly manage my own.
Will sing in the car and am missing my art group and practice with our band this afternoon. Have a good day.

EkwaNimitee Fri 25-Feb-22 09:39:17

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny Carlisle. Do have a pleasant trip to York, Mick.
I can't waste this lovely day being inside, the garden calls. I've just done the ironing and now a restorative mug of coffee awaits before I get out.
Slowly will do it BlueBalou, I hope the chest pains are a temporary problem. I can't work for hours in the garden like I used to, it's frustrating, isn't it?!
Ukraine is on my mind too and worry about consequences in the rest of Europe. To think we were talking about a 'peace dividend' when the USSR collapsed.
The best possible day to all.

BlueBalou Fri 25-Feb-22 08:41:00

Good morning everyone, a lovely sunny start here in Wiltshire.
I have just got back from the DDog walk, I went with my friend and her Basset hound. Very quiet, didn’t see another soul for an hour.
Ironing then start tidying the garden, it’s going to be slow going because I can’t bend over comfortably without getting chest pains ?
Have a lovely time in York Michael, and I hope all’s well with everyone else.

Urmstongran Fri 25-Feb-22 08:36:32

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where we have a lovely sunny start to the day. I’m glad because I’ve booked a pedicure at noon and will need to come home in flip flops so I don’t smudge the nail polish! Early doors babysitting this evening - the parents are squishing in another restaurant meal before we go.

I’m going to read all your posts now. A nice start to my day. Enjoy Friday all who can. x

harrigran Fri 25-Feb-22 08:27:56

Good morning from a sunny but still very windy NE.
Quiet day yesterday catching up on emails.
A neighbour, from where we had our second home, rang for a chat and to tell me what is going on in the NW. I asked her if she had an email address, she doesn't have a computer and she doesn't have a mobile phone.
Greatly surprised to receive my renewed driving licence within 48 hours of application online, even before covid it wasn't that fast.
Need to sort my wardrobes out and see if I have some smaller size clothes lurking in the depths, even my clingy leggings are too big now.
Enjoy York Mick.

baubles Fri 25-Feb-22 08:19:24

Good morning Mick, morning all from bright and cold South Lanarkshire. The snow has frozen, I can hear people and cars crunching along the road.

Thank you for sharing the prayer for the poor people of Ukraine Ash.

Glad to hear things are going well for Iris and your DH, Mattie.

Happy Birthday to MrCorner

Sending best wishes for your DD gingster.

I’m having my eyebrows tidied up and tinted this morning then will shop for extra food for my DS and his little ones who are going to spend the weekend with us to give their Mum a bit of a break. The children, like their Dad, have hollow legs and take a lot of filling.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Grandmadinosaur Fri 25-Feb-22 08:09:11

Good morning from my hotel room in London where there is a bright blue sky.

I enjoyed Jersey Boys yesterday and a nice meal and cocktails in the evening. I’d got a taxi to the theatre with a very pleasant driver. We passed Big Ben which was looking resplendent now after the restoration and we passed a large crowd of Ukrainian people with flags protesting opposite Downing Street. My thoughts and prayers to the poor people of Ukraine it’s heartbreaking.
Today we will have a look round the shops. There are a couple of other places I’d like to have gone to but time doesn’t allow as our train home is early afternoon.
Have a good day with GS * Shazza*

Take care everyone.

Grandmajean Fri 25-Feb-22 08:05:48

Morning from Cheshire.
Lovely sunny morning. That makes a nice change !
All good news for you yesterday GrandMattie Not before time.
Hope today brings everyone a bit of Cheshire's sunshine.

Marydoll Fri 25-Feb-22 08:05:36

Good morning Mick and all from a chilly Glasgow. How exciting to be going away Mick, I'm quite envious. Your plan sounds very intriguing!
Will you be able to open up tomorrow and tell us your news or will you need a deputy?

Thank you for the prayer, Ash. I cannot stop thinking of the inhabitants of Ukraine. My heart was breaking, when I saw teachers practising air raid drills and taking children of Dollie's age to a bomb shelter. Such brave people.

Great to hear such positive news from you GM, you sound quite upbeat. Much better news about your DH, what a relief.

Dustyangel, I hope you are resting and not in too much pain. You have had a hard time in the last week.

Baubles, I was thinking of you travelling East, yesterday in those awful conditions.

Yesterday's enforced day in, due to the snow and awaiting my GP 's call, gave me the chance to catch up on lots of church admin and do my version of resting. I'm quite chuffed with the revamped parish bulletin. I know I am odd, when I say I really enjoy footering about on my PC! ?

When I hadn't heard from my GP by 6.30pm, I thought I must have imagined things, as I am becoming very forgetful. sad A week of angina attacks has made me quite anxious about not being well enough for the wedding.
At 6.30pm on the dot my GP phoned. My heart meds have been increased again, so hopefully, all will be well for Friday.
Much to my surprise, he is going to call again in a few weeks , to adjust my medication again. I have previous convictions for unpleasant reactions to new drugs, so taking baby steps is the plan. I must be more unwell, than I thought, as he was quite concerned and usually leaves me to self manage and contact him, when necessary!! I suspect the letter from the cardiologist made him realise, the consequences of not monitoring.

Mr MDoll, caused a panic with DD, due to his listening problem. Please note I said listening, not hearing.
DD had messaged that she was going to IKEA, did I need anything. I asked him to send her a list, but tell her I needed to keep my phone free and not call me.
The phone rang, it was DD in a panic, Why is the doctor coming? ?
There is a possibility that there may not be a father of the groom at Friday's wedding! wink

Much to my dismay, the golf has been cancelled, no empty for me. Damn and blast!!! I have a Sainsbury's TU Click and collect to pick up, but I can't be bothered to go the road is closed for six weeks and the alternative route has roadworks. What bright spark planned that and why didn't I just pay the blooming delivery charge?

Wishing Mr Corner a very happy birthday sending my very best wishes to all who are suffering.

Have a good day everyone.

NannyJan53 Fri 25-Feb-22 08:01:34

Good morning from a much brighter Black Country.

Yesterday I needed to call our Doctors Practice. So rang 8am on the dot for a recorded message saying I was 71st in the queue! Was 25 minutes before I spoke to someone who asked me to send photo and the Doctor would call me back, which she did around 12.30. I have itchy dry patches on my face and by my eyes causing puffiness there. All she did was prescribe Antihistamine. I will have to go to a walk in centre if that doesn’t do the trick. I am so disappointed that Doctors are still trying to avoid seeing people. My face is a mess and itchy!

So pleased there is good news about Iris and your DH grandMattie.

I too hold the Ukrainian people in my thoughts and heart, worrying times.

Oopsadaisy1 Fri 25-Feb-22 07:57:25

Good morning Mick and all from a bright frosty Oxfordshire, MsOops and Grandchildren are back from Scotland late tonight , the kids were thrilled with the snow, but less thrilled with how cold it is compared to the South West.
We’ve had their dog for the week, he’s recovering from a large op, but he’s being a sweetie.
Have a good day everyone, hugs for those who aren’t too well or have worries today.

BlueSapphire Fri 25-Feb-22 07:55:26

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny Northampton.

Great news grandMattie! Have a good weekend in York, Mick.

Was out twice yesterday, first thing to the surgery for a blood test, followed by a coffee in the little village cafe, and then again in the afternoon to ballet class, where I think I have pulled a muscle in my back - we were practising a position where we try to stretch only the upper half of the back, and I think that's what has done it. Will take a couple of ibuprofen to see if that helps.

Will go to the shops on the bus late morning, and have lunch and coffee in M&S Cafe followed by a mooch around the shops - don't really need much, but it's an outing, and gets me out of the house. Plus I am carrying around a gift card from Next, so will see if they have anything nice in.

Hope Friday is kind to all.

Serendipity22 Fri 25-Feb-22 07:52:31

Good morning everyone and good morning Mick, I hope you have a lovey day in York ( which i am sure you will ) weather wise its going to be dry I believe and Harrogate is very very lovely there is a BETTYS tea room there

I woke early, even before the dustbin wagon made its noisy way around, with Ukraine on my mind and all the people AND the Russian people are suffering too, its so very heartbreaking. I feel bad for now talking about my 'free' day ahead of me, we can come and go as we please, how blessed are we !

I have my oldest granddaughter here for the week, she is nooooo bother whatsoever, so we might go for Hot Chocolate with marshmallows and a piece of cake again then i might drop her back here and go visit my aunt, its all might * might might.*

Enjoy your day everyone and let's remind ourselves just how lucky we are.

Pittcity Fri 25-Feb-22 07:52:10

Good morning from sunny but below freezing Colchester.
The sky cleared yesterday evening and it was freezing when we walked to a local Turkish restaurant for a lovely meal. There were lots of birthdays being celebrated.
DH has gone fishing today. I will try to make the most of the empty to clean and sort. I'll also walk into town for some bits and make the most of the sunshine.
I too am thinking of Ukraine and praying that it doesn't cause DS and his military colleagues to be placed in any sort of danger.
Love to all ? x

kittylester Fri 25-Feb-22 07:41:53

Good morning all from a brightish but chilly North Leicestershire.

Pootling and faffing here this morning. DH is off to the gym so I have an empty. This afternoon I have a hair appointment in town.

I'm sure Ukraine is in all our hearts.

Gwenisgreat1 Fri 25-Feb-22 07:41:12

Good morning all from bright Harrogate
Thank you for your support after the death of our dog, it was actually our DDs dog, we looked after her because DD had difficulty looking after dog and a baby (the baby is nearly 6).
Yesterday started with a call from York District Hospital to tell me I shouldn’t have had to pay for a new hearing aid, and I could have an appointment today - Yeah!! To start getting me the correct hearing aid!! That call was followed by DD phoning in tears about the dog we shared. I started having my breakfast when the doorbell went - it was DD2 with DGS lending their support for the dog. They both knew the attachment my DH had formed with the dog. DD decided a cuddle from DGS would help us (which it did) While they were with us, my Sainsburies delivery arrived. After DD left, I went for a much needed trip to the podiatrist.
You’ll have some decent weather in York, Mick apart from Monday when it could be wet. I shall be in York today but I reckon my hosp appointment will clash with your arrival in the city. We haven’t seen the city for a couple of years, so are going early so I can see something of it this morning.
I’m glad you have all good news GrandMattie it will be such a relief to you
And Gagagran I would never have thought you could have a filling in crown! You learn something new every day!
Thank you for the prayer Ashcombe I shall read in on the train to York.
Have the best day possible Folks
