Welshwizard you won the chair three times , I am in awe,

Currently watching Bbc4 programmes about Wales. Loving the one called Hidden Wales. All about iconic buildings many which are derelict and need restoring.

I am watching that too. So many derelict Welsh properties, both humble and grand. It would be impossible to bring them back and the guy who is working on that huge house must be mad to even try! I cannot see that ever being completed to be honest. The family farm I am researching is very old, and was being efficiently run and well cared for until about 60 years ago, but has since been neglected and may also end up a ruin.

Oops. Red capes ?

My little great niece was very excited to go to school in national costume yesterday for the first time. I have been sent a very cute photo of about ten little Welsh girls in their black hats and red

Anniebach, I won the chair three times running at our school eisteddfod. I still have the little miniature wooden chairs that I was awarded. I was very proud!

The Huw Edwards Patagonia programme was also excellent, it was lovely to see people with no connection to the founding fathers embracing Welsh culture which such enthusiasm. I really enjoyed it.

Sorry Chestnut I was mistaken. It was Llewelyn’s palace or parliament. Sorry about that. Best wishes for your research

Chestnut have you investigated Pen y Bryn house in North Wales?

I don't know anything about that. I'm only investigating the house where my ancestors lived.

As a Welsh person living in England I have brought my small Welsh dragon into work and some bakestones (Welsh cakes) to share at our coffee meeting this morning.

I remember dressing my daughters in traditional costume to go to school when we were all living in Wales. I miss that

Happy At David's Day.

I remember my DD and her friends dressed up in their Welsh costumes. They looked lovely. Always brings happy tears when I see the little ones dress in national costumes.

Happy St David's Day!

We used to go to the DGC's school for an Eisteddfod and to have a look at the Welsh-themed projects they'd been doing (usually with the help of parents and grannies over half-term!) but not since Covid, sadly.

I forgot it's Shrove Tuesday too.

Hapus Dydd Gwyl Dewi.
When I was in primary school in Carmarthenshire in the fifties we had a concert/eisteddfod in the morning and the afternoon was a holiday. The girls wore daffodils and the boys wore leeks. Some of the boys were brave enough to eat their leeks!
When I went to the Grammar School we had ordinary lessons in the morning and a concert/assembly in the afternoon where we sang welsh folk tunes e.g. Ar Lan y Mor, or Dafydd y Carreg Wen
My grand-daughters have gone to school in their Welsh costumes this morning. Later on today the whole school will do a parade around their village so that everyone will see them in their Welsh costumes. I think that is a lovely idea.
