What did you have on your pancakes and what will you be giving up for Lent?

It’s always lemon and sugar for us. Not a great fan myself but DH likes them.

Don’t know about any peace marches but it is Women’s World Day of Prayer this Friday the 4th. I am not a church goer normally but am planning to go to our village service and join with others praying for all those affected by the terrible events in Ukraine in recent days.

We had traditional scotch pancakes, otherwise know as drop scones. I had butter on mine.

Just lemon and sugar for me, but there were seven of us, and they all had chocolate and strawberries, maple syrup and chocolate chips.
Not sure it’s worth the bother, but the .children love tossing them

The savoury ones - a Bolognese sauce and salad. The sweet ones - classic lemon and sugar, or add some blueberries, Nutella, and finally maple syrup.

I haven’t thought about what I’ll give up for Lent. Last year I made a daily note of what I was grateful for. Another year I started a charity box and put something in each day and after 40 days took it to a local charity shop.

No pancakes here, I’m giving up chocolate for Lent, doesn’t count really as I don’t like it much, but showing willing.

Really dont like pancakes, growing up it was Shrove Tuesday then Ash Wednesday so we had to go to Mass and parade around with a dirty thumb mark on our heads.
I seem to remember Shrove Tuesday was also a day of fast and abstinence.
Certainly no meat was eaten.
Tonight’s dinner is a lamb tagine.
I will burn in Hell ?

Just lemon on mine.

I'm in a living arrangement where a daily lunch is provided as part of the rent. I'm giving up breakfast and tea.

I made Scotch pancakes this year. OH had honey on his and I had lemon, sugar and seedless raspberry jam.

Classic lemon and sugar here. Don't do giving up for anyone or anything, especially Lent.

Cabbie21 Tue 01-Mar-22 19:24:02

The local churches are serving pancakes today.

I decided to make some for the first time in years, but DH disappeared before they were ready, so his is waiting to be eaten, with sugar and lemon and is now cold. I wish I hadn't bothered, as I have had two and feel so full now!

We had vigils held in the county a few days ago.

tanith Tue 01-Mar-22 19:16:44

Lemon and sugar it’s just perfect. I don’t give anything up for lent either.

Ilovecheese Tue 01-Mar-22 19:14:35

Lemon and sugar. I'm not giving up anything for Lent. Not heard anything about peace marches here.

Josieann Tue 01-Mar-22 19:14:15

Request from DGD.

On a positive note, did you know that the Met Office call today, March 1st, the first day of Spring? Brrrr!

I'm giving up cheese.

Grannyboots1 Tue 01-Mar-22 19:12:58

For the first time I bought some ready made pancakes from M and S. Popped them in the microwave added sugar and lemon - delicious without ending up with a hot smokey kitchen !!

grannyrebel7 Tue 01-Mar-22 19:10:31

We had lemon, sugar banana & raisins. Also made a few cheese ones. I would like to go on a peace march too.

Just that really.

There doesn't seem to be any mention of Pancake Day anywhere.

Here in Germany we can't get away from it, although this year the parties and parades were subdued, and many cancelled because of Covid.

The parades in Cologne etc were converted into Peace demonstrations, but there were thousands out on the streets anyway.
