Bob Mortimer for PM

Following on from a thread on Mumsnet, where they were discussing the president of Ukraine having been a comedian, it set me wondering which comedian/actor I might like to see leading the UK - I immediately thought of Bob Mortimer. He is a qualified lawyer and seems to be an all-round good egg to me.

Who would you choose?

Love Bob Mortimer (and Paul Whitehouse) but my PM choice of comedian would be Jo Brand.

Kathy Burke - there's a thought.

I still can't stop humming Billy's national anthem, though. grin

I think Kathy Burke would be a good candidate.

I would vote for Bob Mortimer. Paul Whitehouse is a deeper thinker, but not sure if that is a requirement for the PM position or not?

I love Billy Connolly's national anthem! grin

Just watched that ???

Thanks to this wonderful thread I've just watched this and have cried laughing.

I really like Deborah Meaden

We already have a comedian as PM?
I would choose Bob Mortimer too actually. He is great!

I love Bob Mortimer but wouldn't want to risk his health by being PM. Eddie Izzard is a clever chap with a nimble mind. Could be an interesting choice?

MissAdventure Fri 04-Mar-22 13:09:34

I love Billy Connolly's national anthem! grin

I also love Bob Mortimer and listened to him reading his autobiography on the borrowbox library app . But for PM my vote is for Deborah Meaden she always seems to talk such sense and does inderstand business so well of course . I'd definitely vote for her .

For me, if in better health it would be the glorious Billy Connolly.

This never fails to make me laugh;

Love BM and Paul W in the angling series. Scenery, gentle humour and very calming. He’s also great in WILTY.

I absolutely LOVED this one

We love Bob on WILTY and the fishing programme. He has had a heart op and that's why Paul Whitehouse encouraged him to go fishing because I think he was sitting around in doors. So I don't think he would want to take on such a stressful job as PM.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 04-Mar-22 11:31:27

I would vote for Robbie Rinder, he appears knowledgeable, compassionate and I do not think he would be open to monetary persuasion

He and Paul are fantastic together on the fishing show. The are both so funny and full of compassion.

How are you doing with gravity Bob?
Not great.

I love their fishing programmes too, so funny and so soothing too!

Yes, Bob Mortimer for PM but the problem is he's too sensible to want the job.

I would love him to be PM grin

Luckygirl3 Fri 04-Mar-22 10:09:34

it is impossible to tell when he is telling the truth and when he is lying. - well there we have it - perfect for PM!

Gongoozler Fri 04-Mar-22 10:03:55

Having watched him on WILTY, he can certainly make the unbelievable believable! And vice versa!

Redhead56 Fri 04-Mar-22 10:01:59

I love Bob Mortimer he is like my brother he says it how it is and does not give a stuff. Intelligent and funny and full of interesting information I used to go trout fishing he would be great company never a dull moment.

trisher Fri 04-Mar-22 10:01:02

He is so funny. I'd vote for him. I'm not sure if it's a qualification but I have seen him on "Would I lie to you" and it is impossible to tell when he is telling the truth and when he is lying. Mind I'm not sure if he would want the stress.

TerriBull Fri 04-Mar-22 09:58:56

I love Bob Mortimer too, I knew he was a lawyer in a previous life and a do it yourself dentist, which came to light on "Would I Lie to You". I think, extracted a tooth himself has a dentist's chair grin

I read somewhere that those who want to become politicians shouldn't, I don't think it was part of Zelensky's life plan. Having said that would gentle Bob want such a job, I think not!'
