I’m the same, I’ve stopped watching online News and TV, just come on Social Media for GN and Facebook.
We have donated money to International Aid and direct to the Ukrainian Army and feel that really this is all we can do, unless and until someone tells us how we can help directly, I’m afraid I can’t watch it any more.
As someone else said, how can this evil man get away with such awful actions, will nobody in Russian Government stand up against him?

I’m heartily sick of people censoring anything and everything and taking the moral high ground, Are we to get told how to think by just anyone. We all share the same continent, they’re our neighbours. It’s deeply upsetting seeing a mad man razing towns, making people homeless and seeing tge anguish on countries adjoining theirs, knowing he won’t stop at Ukraine. he is taking their homes, infrastructure and the breadbasket of Europe away.

This war is affecting us all because of the wall-to-wall news coverage, which is also fuelling anti-Russian sentiment. It's the government, not the Russian people waging war.

I feel the same as all the posters , I watch the 10 pm news sobbing, so distressing seeing the bewildered faces of children running alongside their parents, not knowing what’s going to happen. It’s cold , it’s dangerous. I just want them all tucked up safely in their own beds , and it’s not going to happen.
I think I shouldn’t watch the news but to not watch , in my eyes is me being dismissive of the awful situation.
How can Evil Putin just stand and watch this happen. Let’s hope he is disposed of very quickly. Evil Evil B——D.

I think you are being too hard on Granny23. She is just being honest about her reaction, which is perfectly valid.

My beautiful grandchildren visited yesterday. I don’t see them very often. I reflected how they have every advantage, and then thought of Ukrainian children at the present time. As my mother always said, we are lucky never to have been refugees. It’s just the luck of the draw. My grandchildren’s other granny is Polish, and her parents were refugees from Stalin. (The family lived in what is now Belarus. Stalin didn’t like Poles living in Russia.) She was born in a refugee camp in Buckinghamshire, so it is all very real to us. Count your blessings.

I hope this isn’t going to turn into a titfor tat pass the blame thread.
I cry for all those poor people in Ukraine. And maybe it is easier to relate to them but it’s a tragedy that this is happening.
Let’s stay on topic.

I feel the same. Trying to balance keeping informed without being totally overwhelmed. The thought that just two short weeks ago all those people were going about their normal routine and now they're suffering in a war zone is intolerable. All because of one man's greed and need for power. Containing my hatred of Putin is impossible.

The tragedy Ukrainians have gone through for ten days, Palestinians have been enduring for years.

The world football authority FIFA fined Celtic for fans waving Palestinian flags, but were ok with footballers wearing Ukrainian flags. Personally I feel the 2 invading governments are at fault, both claiming this is their land and the peoples of the invaded countries are suffering horrendously. The ethnicity of any of the 4 countries doesn't interest me.

Feel the same. Forever in my thoughts, but have had to cut down on watching news. I'm teary too, and it's affecting my sleep. When I wake up Ukraine is my first thought. Has Russia taken over the capital, or are the people fighting back and messing with Putin's heinous plan, or hopefully has someone assassinated this second Hitler! Putin dead, seems the only safe way to bring this invasion to an end. Cut the head off the snake, and the tail will die. I don't blame the Russian people as they are being fed such evil lies, but as the bodies of young soldiers are taken back to Russia maybe enough people can revolt in the streets that no guns can stop. It happened in Romania. Putin should remember how that ended!

Have just seen a photo on my FB feed where Polish mothers have left pushchairs and prams at Railway Stations for Ukrainian mothers to use as they arrive with their children. The tears are just sliding down my cheeks......

It's dreadful. I just saw footage of an 18 month old boy being carried into a hospital by his parents. The medical staff couldn't save him. Heartbreaking

I was castigated by my DD for saying that I felt felt so much more emotionally involved with the situation in Ukraine than I had ever felt with regard to Palestine, Iran/Iraq or Vietnam, and this was because the people involved were 'just like us'. Apparently this is not a PC way of thinking but I can't help my feelings. This was especially true when a reporter interviewed an older Ukrainian Gentleman with a full white beard, who was the absolute double of and dressed the same as one of my lovely Scottish neighbours. It somehow made the situation personal and brought it so close to home.

The words that best describe describe my own emotions have already been used - despair, anger, fear, distress, helplessness ...

I am not given to emotional outbursts, but I suddenly burst into uncontrollable tears yesterday evening as my mind strayed back to one particular news item that I'd read earlier.

I don't know what to do. I can't bury my head in the sand, but can't keep listening to all the latest updates when I am powerless to actually do anything about it.

I cannot believe that in this day and age a psychopath is allowed to do what he wants. The whole world is watching the terrors unfold and nothing is being done to stop it. The man has no heart sanctions will mean nothing to him he wants people to suffer even his own.

We have been through nearly two years of Covid the deaths the misery and mental instability it has caused. It's been overwhelming and now this it is totally beyond any comprehension. The Russian people should revolt against his orders and put an end to this tragic situation.

It is an entirely understandable feeling. We try to imagine what the Ukrainians are going through with having to flee their homes and country with many leaving behind their men to fight the Russian Army and wondering if they will ever see them again. We feel helpless too. We can donate items and money to try to alleviate their plight but it doesn't seem nearly enough when you see the devastation this lunatic has caused. He has this blinkered vision of reclaiming the Ukraine for Russia. He is a dangerous man. I don't wish death on anyone usually but I make an exception in his case because he has no thought for the thousands killed on his orders.
