Do you unpack your case on an overnight break?

If you are just staying overnight in a hotel/B&B, do you unpack all of your clothes/shoes into the drawers/cupboards, or do you simply live out of your case?
Arrive at hotel 2 pm, depart 10.00 am the next morning.

I joined a couple for an overnight stay in a hotel, (separate rooms obviously!), they unpacked every single item into drawers and wardrobes. I found this a bit ridiculous.
What do you do in the same situation? x

I use packing cubes so no, I don’t unpack into drawers etc. My toilet bag goes into the bathroom and that’s it.

No I don't unpack on an overnight trip.

I think it's becoming passé again

We went on a tour of India and stayed in lots of different places, eventually repacked our cases horizontally so we could see everything at a glance. Often had very early starts so we'd leave them open on the floor ready for our night things and put them outside the bedroom door for the porters.

it is worth a fortune!

I didn't know it was called mid-century until an estate agent came the other week - I said that our bedroom furniture was rather old-fashioned and he said it was trendy mid-century ?

I don't unpack for 1 night stay. I only have pj's, make up, toothbrush, so really there's nothing to unpack

Pantglas2 Sun 06-Mar-22 21:55:55

Does it matter?

Use packing cubes and then just hang up shirt trousers dress.

No, small case for us only has toiletries, two clean tops, one pair of undies, couple of books, iPads, chargers, that’s it.

We quite often do overnight stops whilst travelling. We share a small case and leave the big ones in the car. When we get to our room I put out stuff for the evening and/or next day. We quite often just shower ,eat and sit in bed reading or watching telly, so a bottle of water and a couple of wine go in the case!

If I am staying at a hotel or b & b it makes things a lot easier not to unpack if there is one of those folding luggage rack things for the case.

Dd2 (who visits often) and family open their suitcases in the hall!!! There are empty wardrobes and drawers in ALL the spare bedrooms.

Katie59 Sun 06-Mar-22 18:10:08

Pack a bag with a change of clothes, that’s all but then I would go on a 2 week holiday with just a carry on bag.

Mollygo Sun 06-Mar-22 18:09:09

Hang up the next day’s outfit but not everything.

Witzend Sun 06-Mar-22 18:07:34

No way.
I rarely unpack everything even for a considerably longer trip.
But I do roll most things rather than fold them, so there are fewer creases to drop out.

Dh always unpacks everything, but he only ever takes cabin baggage no matter how long he’s going to be away.

Callistemon21 Sun 06-Mar-22 16:26:30

oh, and a pair of my spectacles ?

Callistemon21 Sun 06-Mar-22 16:25:51

It's those pockets in aircraft seats where things get left! A half-read book, DH's mobile phone .....

No matter whether for a night or a fortnight, I only hang dresses and coat in the wardrobe; everything else is kept in the suitcase. I've had too many trips where I've got home and found I've forgotten jumpers, underwear and shoes back at the hotel.

Callistemon21 Sun 06-Mar-22 16:20:30

I never put my underclothes into a hotel drawer, however long I stay, always leave them in my suitcase.
Otherwise hang things up in the wardrobe.

I would only have things I needed in an overnight bag, so yes,I would unpack it, hang up anything that needs hanging, put pjs on the bed, toiletries in the bathroom, other essentials on bedside table. No need for drawers or wardrobe for one night.

Same here.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 06-Mar-22 16:12:47

Any item of clothing that lives on a hanger is hung up, all other items would remain in suitcase/bag if just for one night.
