Wearing earrings constantly

I have double pierced earrings and was forever losing just one earring expensive
real gold earring. A game changer is to buy the earrings from Claire’s accessories (the ones they use to pierce your ears with) and there is a different price (cheaper) just to buy earrings without a piercing. I buy the real gold ones (a little bit more expensive, but I am allergic to non-gold and get itchy ears) and they ‘lock’ into the butterflies making them much more secure. I have two different sized ‘diamond’ ones and leave them in all the time and because they ‘lock’ into the butterflies, there is no chance of losing them. The gold ones are around £50 a pair but well worth the price as you won’t lose them. They click into place but are still easy enough to remove if you want a fancy drop earring for special occasions. Before lock down I had 2 in one ear and one in the other.
MrC pierced them for me.
I now have 3 in one ear and two in the other.
Funnily enough I asked him earlier today to do them again so I have 3 in each.

I wear diamond studs virtually all the time, a lovely present years ago from DH. The backs screw on so although very secure are fiddly to remove. I do take them out once in a while for a clean though. Lock down made me very lazy and I used to change them but lately just CBA!

I’ve had my ears pierced for years but I felt like getting an extra one just above It costs $63 ! When I had mine done it was around $5. Needless to say, I’m not bothering. Can you do it yourself I wonder!

This is an inexpensive one.
The one I bought was around £40 including solid gold earrings.

Reading the reviews, there was one woman who did her nose, which was either brave or stupid. Probably both

I prefer earings with long hooks of the type common in India, the middle east and among our generation in Spain too.

They are far easier to get in and out, as you don't have to fasten them. Even cheap earrings of this kind have surgical steel hooks, so no trouble with rashes or allergies.

But a word to the wise, if you wear a tubular scarf under you bike helmet TAKE YOUR EARINGS OFF FIRST.. I recently lost one of a pair of gold earrings because I just pulled the hoodie down while shopping, forgetting I had my earings on!

I wear pretty little heart shaped earrings all the time, only changing when I go out to a nice event.

Like you I got mine pierced well over 50 years ago and I wear mine all day but never over night. When I broke my wrist I couldn't get them in for at least 6 weeks. They seemed to close up a bit in that time but I just perservered by pushing and have no problem now. I have always worn ones with gold posts and extremely fine gold at that....... my excuse to my hubbie was that I was alergic to other metals

I’ve worn a pair of small hollow hoops fixed on a wire for over twenty years and have only taken them out if needed to in hospital. I have a few pieces

I had my ears pierced when I was 15 -in the hope that (being only no.2 daughter) my mother would give me her grandmother’s turquoise and pearl gold earrings. She did!

But since then, I wear loads of earrings, mostly dangling, every single day. I have at least 110 fish earrings, + loads of others, like marydoll, I take them out at night, replace them at th3 same time Thai put my glasses on…

I wear little silver hoops ( sleepers) mostly . But have many pairs of earrings for going out etc.
I had my ears pierced at least 50 years ago and wear the same sleepers I had then.

I mainly wear dangly ones, put them in early morning, take them off at night.Easy to put through the ears and no backs to them and easy to keep clean with antiseptic wipes.

Mine are worn constantly.The ones which slide in then you click them shut- they are called Andralock (or Andralok?) earrings.Provided you click them shut properly they should stay put no matter what.(occasionally the end of clip digs in when i turn sideways on pillow- i just lift up, dig a little 'hollow' into pillow then its fine when put head back down.😅)

Yes i too occasionally remove them in hospital for a scan or op etc but then put straight back in.

This is something I've also been thinking of having done recently.

I had my ears pierced when I was 16, pierced earrings were so much neater than clip-ons. My mother disapproved, said it was barbaric and I looked common! I have some beautiful earrings but don't often wear them. My right ear (which I sleep on) is still open, but the left one seems to have closed up. A few days ago I popped into a beauty salon and asked if she could re-pierce that ear and I would obviously buy a pair of sleepers. She was happy to do it until I mentioned that I take blood thinner tablets and may bleed more than usual. Then she wouldn't do it. She said there was an increased risk of infection and it would deter other customers if the bleeding wouldn't stop. I was amazed as I didn't think it would be a big problem for a professional beautician. Guess I'll have to get used to wearing just one earring.

I've had double piercings for nearly 50 years and only take them out to change them but in the last few years have found I can now only wear gold, silver turns black and cheaper earrings cause itching and eventually soreness. I've recently discovered plastic backed studs and have a pretty selection of different coloured fake crystal ones with clear plastic posts and butterfly clips. Now no irritation at all, wear all day and night and 20 pairs for a couple of pounds from ebay!

My daughter bought me a gorgeous pair of small square shaped stud earrings with diamanté in each corner. I live in the pair she bought me last year, small gold hoops with diamanté set at the front, but after reading all these comments, I've repierced the second holes I had from decades ago with no problem at all. (I shoved until they went in!) I'm so glad I did as they look very pretty alongside the hoops. Now to see if I can sleep in them!

I have 3 piercings in each ear and wear tiny studs in the upper holes 24/7. And yes @Froglady, I need to clean them too! In the other holes I wear exchangeable earrings, usually a small one in the middle hole and a bigger/longer one in the lowest hole. Often bohemian, ethnic, bit dramatic too 😅 I have been afraid my studs would be in the way for my nearing aids, but that's no problem at all. Still, I would like a helix now and that might become difficult.

I've worn earrings each day for the past 40 years and always take them out at night. I like choosing a different pair to wear each day depending on my clothes. I'd not realised that some people wear studs overnight. Like others have mentioned, I find it fiddly now sometimes attaching the butterfly backs.

I had to get my ears repierced as one had closed up. For some reason I was really nervous (I’m a blood donor & that doesn’t bother me!) but I really wanted them done.
I was told titanium earrings are best as skin does not stick to it (it’s used for hip replacements.
After piercing I was told to just leave it, no turning, I could take them out after 3 months but left it longer. I tend to just wear titanium now & have had no problems & lots of choice on places like Etsy.
