Susan56: I remember only too well the sad incidents involving deer but it’s surprising to hear of one actually on the outskirts of Stafford! How distressing for you. I’ve had a few near misses around Milford back in the day and DH1 ran into one when driving a car we’d only bought a few weeks earlier.
Safely on board and on our way now. Thank you for all the kind good wishes. ?

Good Morning Monday 29tyh March 2022
(54 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark ,and the moment but looks dry and cold outside .
Today I see my optician as getting replacement glasses.
The facial scars are vanishing , thanks to using Vaseline.
Tempted to travel further this week , but weather forecast looks Winter Part 2 for many .
Take Care,
Mick
Good morning from a misty Leicestershire.
I am now in my 4 th day of Covid and feel much better.
Lucky really as my DH is quite poorly.
Still sad to have missed my DGS’s 4 th birthday and the planned Mothers Day lunch in Brighton but I had lovely phone calls with the family.
My DD is trying to persuade us to go to Australia in November to meet her in-laws.
Sorry to hear you have relapsed kitty.
I have been reading with dismay of your DH’s trials and hope you can have him home again soon GrandMattie. I look forward to seeing the rug!
Safe travels Ashcombe I love visiting France.
Haha love your mug Grandmadinosaur hope you feel better tomorrow and your DH can sail through it if it’s hitting him too.
Good morning all from South Lanarkshire where it’s still bright and sunny, hard to believe we’re in for a change.
A neighbour popped round yesterday to tell us his house will be going on the market this week. He and his wife split up a year ago and now he needs to move. I did feel sorry for him, can’t be easy starting again, especially at our age.
I’ve no plans today as I’m not working, probably a supermarket shop although I do have a money off voucher for an online shop so I may just do that instead.
Wishing everyone a peaceful day with special thoughts to those with burdens to bear.
Good Morning Mick and everyone from a cloudy Hull. Not looking forward to the weather promised later in the week.
Had a lovely afternoon with the family yesterday. Enjoyed lovely cuddles with the DGC.
Today is a zoom yoga and picking DGS up from school.
Hope everyone travelling has safe journeys and our covid friends feel better soon. Hope your DH manages to eat something yummy GM and your daughter gets a date for her op soon Ginster.
Take care today everyone and hope Monday brings a moment of joy ??
Good morning from East Yorkshire. Streaks of blue in the sky as I peep out the window.
Still feeling a bit rough after my positive result at the weekend but will test again when I get up. I think DH is coming down with it too. Oh happy days ?
I had a very quick visit from the family yesterday bringing flowers and gifts. One of which was a donkey mug. I’ll enclose a photo as I think there is another donkey loving Gran on here. Is it Grandmajean I’m not sure. Bit of a design fault as when you take a drink one of his ears nearly goes up your nostrils!
Today I have phone calls to make and an online shop coming. Taking it easy in between.
Hoping all fellow sufferers will be feeling better soon.
Take care everyone
Thanks also for your welcome back NannyJ ?
Here not hear ?
Good morning Mick and All.
Sunshine hear in South Bucks, pity it is not going to last as tomorrow we go back to my hometown Stratford upon Avon for a short holiday.
Thank you Marydoll for your lovely welcome back onto this thread, so appreciated. Did you notice Mary that you had Ukrainian coloured ribbons on your lovely flowers? I think Brighton would suit your personality It’s very vibrant, pity the beach is stony not sandy.
Sorry to hear you are still unwell Kitty. My 4th booster has surprisingly affected me but it is still worth having.
Your Mothering Sunday celebrations sounded good NannyJ.
Good morning from foggy Colchester. It's chilly too.
Don't know if I'll get the weekend laundry on the line today.
Housework and shopping for the week today. DH is trying a diet along with a few of his gym friends. I have to show solidarity, but not until I've finished my Mother's Day chocolates!
Love to all ? x
Good morning all from a chilly Glasgow and was still quite dark outside at 7am. I have been trying to post since 7am, our wifi has been up and down for days! ?
My house is awash with flowers. DH noticed a note lying in the porch early yesterday morning from our local florist, (whose son I taught and who had left me a beautiful bouquet from himself and his staff, when DD's wedding was postponed the day before lockdown) apologising for the ungodly hour, but he had left something on the doorstep. He is such a kind man.
It was a beautiful bouquet of yellow and cream flowers, sent by DD and SIL, who are touring the whisky distilleries in the North. This is the whisky wall at Macallan. DD is small, like me and SIL wanted to show the scale. DH was green with envy!
Late last night, more flowers arrived from DS2, on honeymoon in Florida. They were quite unusual, with hyacinths included. I was surprised he remembered, as he is fulfilling all his childhood dreams at Universal Studios. DIL must be a good influence
Another strange night for me, I don't know what has triggered off this insomnia again. My RA has flared up ( too much gallivanting) and my pain levels are very high, which could be the cause. I am determined not to allow it to affect my mood!!
For that reason, nothing much planned for today, apart from some tidying up and an hour in the garden. DH is of course golfing, hurrah!
Unfortunately, that's about all I can manage these days, without being exhausted. It is so frustrating, especially as I used to spend hours in the garden.
Yesterday I tidied up my herb garden and at last, put the plant pots on my new stand. It looks so much tidier. I seem to have lost a few over the winter, so that's a job for today, seeing what needs relaced. There is something very satisfying about picking fresh herbs for cooking.
Safe journey to those travelling and hoping for a peaceful day for all struggling with health issues or family worries. So many have so much to deal with, my worries seem trivial in comparison.?
Oops message posted too soon. It was interesting seeing how reluctant DGS was to join in because he didn’t know his cousin’s friends. The entertainer did manage to get him involved using bubbles so he did eventually enjoy himself.
We went to the village pub for a cool drink after, then home.
Today it’s telephone day, and I am babysitting DGS this evening I’ll see who gets to sleep first!!
Glad your DH is showing signs of improving, it’s such a worry for you GrandMattie.
Have a safe journey Ashcombe.
Good luck speaking to a doctor Bluesapphire
Have the best day possible folks
Gingster, I hope your DD gets a date for her op this afternoon. As you say things need to start moving?
Good morning from Stafford.A dramatic end to our journey this morning as a coach ran over a deer just as we were turning onto the estate where DD lives.Lots of deer around as DD lives near Cannock Chase, apparently there are quite often accidents involving them.
A quiet day planned as DGS has had a busy weekend so probably just Lego and digging for treasure in the garden.SIL has already buried the coins!
Glad that your DH is more comfortable GrandMattie and hope he will be able to start eating normally soon.
Safe travels Ash and olddudders.
Hoping all with Covid start to feel better soon.
Have the best day possible everyone??
Good morning all from a chilly North Leicestershire.
After thinking that I was getting better from the pesky virus, I have definitely gone off again. Frustratingly, dh appears completely better!
Today is Persie's 9th birthday and, as she and DD3 are both +ve, we can nip over with her present.
Sending love to everyone.
Good morning from a cloudy and much chillier Black Country.
Had a lovely family get together at DD's, where SIL used his wood fired Pizza oven to feed us! I had lovely gifts including two books one called The Beekeeper of Aleppo and Mrs England. Also a lovely Bouquet but of chocolates not flowers!
Monday walking group this morning, then apparently we are going for coffee and cake afterwards!
Thoughts with all who are unwell or with family members unwell.
I had a wonderful time yesterday. All 3 of my children and their families took us out to lunch at a hotel near Newbury, 13 of us in all. It isn’t often that we are all together and it meant the world to me.
Wishing everyone a good day.
Good morning all and it’s grey and chilly here in Essex.
A lovely day yesterday with family popping in . One of my gifts was the book The boy, the mole, the fox and the Horse. By Charlie Mackesy . Such an inspirational and sweet book with fabulous sketches and drawings. I will keep it by me to dip in and out.
Today DD has an appointment to see the consultant and hopefully get a date for her op. This just goes on and on. Things need to move! Her app is at 3.15 - couldn’t be a worse time with schools coming out and rush hour in full swing. The journey is tricky, so her dad will take her and wait for her in the car. I will pick little gd up from school and bring her back for tea.
GG - sorry to hear you probably have the virus. Look after yourself.?.
GM ?
Hoping your days are gentle. ???
Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve some light grey cloud and cooler today. I think from tomorrow onwards we’ll definitely be back to winter
Hoping things continue to settle down a bit better for your DH GM
I had a lovely day yesterday just pottering in the garden but today I’m back to my Aqua class at the gym and then coffee and a sandwich afterwards with my friend.
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings?
Good morning all from cloudy damp Harrogate
I have to admit to being exhausted after DGDs birthday party yesterday
Morning Mick and all
It’s foggy here in S E Essex.
A quiet day today, still testing, still negative, still feel rough.
Keep safe and well folks ?♀️?
Morning Mick, morning All from a misty corner of Somerset.
Decent day yesterday in lovely sunshine. Not looking forward to the forecast change back to winter. A couple of bags to deliver to a charity shop this morning, perhaps a short walk before picking up some DIY bits on the way back. Oh yes, we also need to top up the car, ouch.
Good luck with your surgery bluesapphire, I also need to speak with someone, it feels a mountain to climb. Sounds a step forward for your husband grandmattie, please don’t exhaust yourself.
Hope Monday is gentle with us all.
Good morning everyone from a misty Northampton. Yesterday turned out to be grey and chilly, but I did wear my dress,. just with tights and a cardigan! I had a lovely day; DS was working, but his partner (DD-out-law) and the DGDs popped in with fizz and flowers for me. Then DD collected me for lunch and a day with them, which was lovely.
Yoga this morning then after lunch shall attempt to ring the surgery to get to speak with a doctor, but chances are that still pretty low on that front.
Back to warmer clothes this week then! We were spoiled with the lovely weather last week; typical of it to change as soon as I get my new garden chairs.
Safe journeys, Ash and OldD; hoping for better news soon about your DH, grandMattie.
And wishing all a good Monday.
Good Morning my fellow early birds. 5.4c here on the south coast and another nice day ahead we are told.
Sounds as if your DH has benefitted from the hospice expertise, Mattie. Thinking of you both and I am sure your magic fingers will produce a beautiful patchwork rug for him pdq!.
Safe travels Ash - I could almost wave at you as you sail away to France!
Hope you get your new specs sorted Mick and manage to get back on your travels without further incident.
Today I have to cut my DH's hair and iron his summer trousers but not a lot more. We deadheaded our huge bed of daffodils yesterday so the lovely display is over for another year. Lots more to come including lavenders and roses which I love.
Have the best day you can everyone.
