Beautiful memorial service for Prince Philip

Just that really.
I thought the Queen looked amazing, considering the time she's had. She looked so dignified as well.
I sort of agree with PA helping her in. After all, he is her son and it's a memorial service for his father.
Also it's a way of showing certain absent members that 'this is what loyalty' in a family looks like.

The children were beautifully behaved and doesn't Princess Charlotte have a look of the Queen about her?shock

It does seem a bit sad that Harry wasnt there.
If this was any ordinary family I suppose we would be saying he has gone No Contact with Prince Charles and that he and the Queen are estrangedparents/grandparents!
Seems a bit cruel to do that to an old lady, in what could be one of her last public engagements.
But that is my opinion.
I'm sure the PH fanclub will be along in a minute to disagree. hmm

Other than that, it was a lovely service.

I think B & E are both good role models. One has spoken about her scoliosis and how she underwent back surgery to correct her spine. The other spoke out about her problems with dyslexia and how she struggled to finish her education. Both seem admirable enough in that respect.

Six degrees of separation rule!

(I think I'm three degrees of separation from Meghan ?)

Vice President.

Of a Software Firm specialising in AI

With no experience in software. Or AI.

In other news, I just found out I'm only 3 connections away from her on Linked In. shock

Call me suspicious but I do wonder how Beatrice's first paid employment was as Vice President of Strategic Partnerships for a multinational data and software company at the tender age of 29, what with her having a 2:1 in History and all.

She's a role model to us all. Get born into the right family and the world's your oyster.

I agree that royals and other well known young people get offered jobs that are out of reach to most people. It’s the way of the world unfortunately. Nepotism is alive and well.

29 isn't a particularly tender age and however 'right' your family is, no one will employ anybody who is completely hopeless . Sometimes, the 'right' family can be a handicap and not a blessing.

In what respect are Beatrice and Eugenie not good role models and to whom? I can't think of anything that either of them have done to deserve that criticism. They always appear to be perfectly pleasant young women, but perhaps I've missed something.

They seem perfectly nice young women to me too, although I only now from what I have seen/heard and don't know them personally.
Quite surprising really.

I think it happens a lot in all walks of life. I remember hearing well-known sons and daughters of actors saying how difficult it is to break into showbusiness when you have a famous parent grin
Not half as difficult as for Sam or Sally Bloggs from Nowhere Town.

Well, maybe some people dislike the York girls

They’re not brilliant role models are they?

volver Sat 02-Apr-22 16:16:34

The double standards are that some people spend inordinate amounts of time criticising Meghan in the worst possible terms, because she deserves it so we can say anything about her. But say anything that is deemed disrespectful of Beatrice, and they're on you like a ton of bricks.

Gilly3 Sat 02-Apr-22 16:14:38

It's not a competition which young lady was the more emotional for whatever reason. It is the poster's distasteful comment which assumed that Beatrice was crying because she had just found out that not only was her father involved in sex trafficking, but now her parents have been involved in a fraud. That comment is just as bad as all the daft assumptions over the M & H stuff.

Mollygo Sat 02-Apr-22 16:13:31

Double standards? Which double standards prevents anyone on even on GN feeling sympathy for Beatrice? Regardless of how they may feel about other members if the RF, or politicians or posters on GN?

Oh OK. Fair enough.

Burn the witch.

Pantglas2 Sat 02-Apr-22 16:04:05

Oh and I forgot the we were married first in the garden by the Archbishop....methinks there are more, aye!

Pantglas2 Sat 02-Apr-22 16:00:43

The middle one, actually - the bit where her passport was taken and she couldn’t leave the country but managed a baby shower in states...

volver Sat 02-Apr-22 15:56:23

Aye, of course.

Jezebel. Liar. Stole our lovely Prince.

There’s a massive difference between seeing something with your own eyes and being told something by someone who’s been economical with the truth in the past...

What about a woman who is so sad she wants to die. Is it OK to have a go at her?

Double standards maddyone, double standards.

(Not you)

The press do try to manipulate us. They absolutely do.
But I thought more of Gransnetters than that any of them would mock a young woman crying at her grandfather’s memorial service. Obviously not you volver.
Thank you Annie, Pantglas and any others who have agreed with me.
It is unseemly and unkind to mock a young woman crying at her grandfather’s memorial, whoever the young woman happens to be.

volver Sat 02-Apr-22 14:29:15

This is great, for so many reasons.

Headline, in big letters: Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice 'received Turkish fraudster cash' with Andrew link ???

Last line of article: There is no suggestion that the Duke of York, Sarah Ferguson, Princess Eugenie or Princess Beatrice committed any wrongdoing or knew the source of the payments.

Never, never tell me that the press aren't manipulating us. Never say that. I will bring this up.

Honeysuckleberries

My husband knew several police officers who had dealings with Beatrice and Eugenia, and they all said what lovely, well mannered and polite girls they were.

Well they should be really shouldn’t they !

I’m not commenting on the crying at the memorial by the way before anyone starts……just responding to that post

Oh dear, more stress for the Queen.

Anniebach Sat 02-Apr-22 13:37:54

Agree Pantglas I was shocked by that brutal post , a grandchild is mocked for crying at a memorial service to her
grandfather

I can understand the dislike of (take your pick) Andrew, Sarah, Harry or Meghan’s behaviour but as far as I’m aware Beatrice has done nothing to merit the mocking of her grief at her grandfather’S memorial.
