Bruce Willis

I have a relative who has early onset dementia that manifested as aphasia. It is devastating.. the sufferer does not realise that their utterances are intelligible. A loss of communication... just babbling. It is a cruel illness.

Gossamerbeynon1945 I really feel for you, my late FIL had aphasia after a stroke and he could form sounds but they only made sense to him and he got very angry and physical when my husband didn’t understand what he wanted. It was a terribly difficult and upsetting time for both of them.

That must be so difficult gossamerbeynon1945. I had not heard of this distressing condition before.

My husband has aphasia after a stroke. He can't speak at all. WhenI say that I don't understand him, he doesn't believe me. We have had stand up fights over this!

I loved Moonlighting. Lovely to see some people remember it! I have mentioned it over the years and nobody knows what I'm on about.

The personal relationship between the two stars is irrelevant really. Obviously both good actors able to work together on a good show.

I've liked Bruce in all his guises. Not just the Die Hard types.

The film Blind Date had me in tears of laughter at the time.

It is very sad, no doubt about that ( i used to have a framed photo of Bruce by my bed , true )

It all goes to prove take nothing for granted appreciate all we have because our lives can change in the blink of an eye.

Poor Bruce, he has a loving family surrounding him.

It seems especially sad given what he did for a living. He’s been in some really entertaining films over the years, although from about 2010 onwards most of them have been “direct-to-video”. My favourites include Armageddon, 12 Monkeys, Pulp Fiction, 5th Element and of course, the Die Hard series.

I know thats why it worked I imagine.

Galaxy, I loved Moonlighting and never missed an episode. I also really enjoyed the Die Hard films. Very sorry to hear this awful diagnosis. Im sure Bruce will get a lot of support, he seems very close to his family and although he and Demi divorced, I hear they are on friendly terms.

I'm so glad for Bruce that he has a loving family around him. Have to agree with you Galaxy he was lovely in Moonlighting.

I thought aphasia was a symptom of some sort of brain damage, tumour, stroke Alzheimers etc. Desperately sad for him as words are his living. I can imagine how frustrating it must be for sufferers.

Yes really sad. I had an enormous soft spot for him in Moonlighting . It sounds as if this has been a struggle for a few years and I just think that must have been incredibly difficult.

Very sad, I do hope that by going public with his diagnosis that it raises awareness of this cruel disease.
