Charleyg Sometimes, when stuff conspires to irritate us, we deal with it (as you did the buggeration with the washing machine leak). Think...spotlessly clean floor. Now, what to do about the freezer!!! I am guessing you may need a man who knows how to fix such things to arrive pretty darn quick.

soop Fri 08-Apr-22 14:17:28

best4me You are most welcome to join us in the kitchen. We chat a lot. Make excuses not to do too much housework and offer each other support. So, if you care to stay and add to our merriment...do, please come on in.

Thank you all for being pleased on my behalf. As I said to Mr Soop just this morning, I am totally relaxed with the stoma and the new regime. So many people were generous enough to help me get the drop-bot fixed. I can never thank you enough. You have enabled me to enjoy a new lease of life. sunshine flowers grin

Oh Charleygirl, not the way you wanted to spend your evening frantically mopping water from your floor.
Your appliances are ganging up on you - we really are at the mercy of them behaving nicely.
Thank you all for your well wishes - today is feeling better so far ?

cornergran Thu 07-Apr-22 22:39:13

Oh heck charley. Hope nothing else joins the white goods strike.

Charleygirl5 Thu 07-Apr-22 22:35:07

Luckily I was preparing my supper when I noticed my washing machine thought my kitchen floor needed a good clean because I saw soap suds slowly making their way towards me.

The ceramic tiles are now spotless, the washing machine is resting permanently and I hope there is wifi in my psychiatric ward. (My freezer decided to take a permanent holiday a few days ago).

I’m a bit late finding my way to the new Kitchen, but delighted now that I’ve found it to read such good news, soop. You sound really upbeat, and I’m delighted!
Tilly, I’m sorry that you’ve succumbed. I hope you feel well again soon.
Urms, I always enjoy Charley Bigham’s curry meals.

Hellogirl1 Thu 07-Apr-22 21:55:08

Good to hear your news health wise Soop. Thank you for the explanation, it sounds complicated.
Pleased to see you back CharleyG, hopefully to stay!
Enjoyed my tea tonight. I made soup, which I only do rarely. It started out as celery soup, with onion and potato added, but I also put in carrots and garden peas to give it a bit more body. Added a couple of beef stockpots, and it was very tasty.

cornergran Thu 07-Apr-22 21:40:23

Excellent news soop. You must be so pleased. Good news from you too blossoming, but please do avoid falling, us mature folk don’t bounce.

‘Evening All’

Just home. Charlie Bigham’s curry in the oven. Yum. Been with the Boy Wonder and L’il Miss at the leisure centre for their swimming lessons. Love the way young children (she’s just 5y) sort out tenses when chatting. We played a game in the car and she said “I winned!”

Just calling in for a catchup.

Bluebalou we have had both a holiday flat and a hiday lodge in the Peak District. Despite our large family they both remain unused most of the time.

Others in the kitchen, I know, will think it's a great idea.

Off to bed now so NNGB TOYA!

Blossoming Thu 07-Apr-22 19:36:39

Heavens, I called in for a catch up and I seem to have missed loads of news!

Soop it’s wonderful to read your post about how well the stoma has healed. Time seems to have flown by since you took the first steps to raising the funds and putting the wheels in motion.

Jax and Tilly so sorry you have the Covid pest, hope you and any other sufferers are soon on the mend.

Charleygirl l’m glad you’re back with us, among friends.

My latest ‘wobbly head’ attack is wearing off, but I’m still having to be careful to avoid faints and falls. I have a lot to keep me occupied while Mr. B fusses around me.

Soop I have had a delivery of chocolate eggs from my favourite chocolate shop in Orton. I haven’t eaten chocolate since starting on the Diabetes Prevention Program but I will be enjoying an Easter treat!

Sorry if I’ve missed saying hello to anyone x

Grannmarie Thu 07-Apr-22 19:13:26

GrannySomerset, I'm so glad to hear that you have a cosy house again.

Grannmarie Thu 07-Apr-22 19:09:59

Good evening, lovely Kitchen people! ?

Wonderful news, Soop, sounds like you are healing well in body, mind and spirit. So much to be thankful for.?

Lovely flowers, thank you, Tilly, I'm so sorry to hear that you and the BlueBalous have covid now. Wishing you and all GN Covid warriors a speedy and complete recovery. ? Thankfully the covid patients in my family are managing OK.

Hello, Charliegirl, that's the spirit!

I've had a lazy afternoon, reading my Neapolitan novel, The Story of the Lost Child by Elena Ferrante. It continues where the present season of My Brilliant Friend finishes. Beef olives with carrots, onions and mushrooms in gravy in the slow cooker, help yourselves!
TOYA, NNGB.

Good evening everyone I’ve caught up on your news today.
TillyTrotter your daffs are gorgeous and hope they’ve kept you cheery today. I’ve got two vases of daffs I’m looking at and they always make me happy.
Soop it’s wonderful news how well you are feeling. Can’t wait to see your dog pic.
So lovely you are thinking of buying a holiday lodge BlueBalou. A change of scenery is good for the soul.
It’s been such a wild and wet day today we’ve had our darling grandson after school. He was on wonderful form. DH cooked again and made a halibut Thai green curry it was so yummy. Just going to chill out with feet up tonight. Got a busy day tomorrow.
Have a lovely evening everyone. ?

Charleygirl5 Thu 07-Apr-22 18:27:51

best4me we just chat in the kitchen- no actual work is ever done there. Many folk bring in virtual plates of food, lovingly cooked in their own homes.

soop is not a misspelling of soup- like ourselves it is the name this particular lady chose for GN and she added the word kitchen many years ago as it appeared to be most appropriate..

brook2704 Thu 07-Apr-22 18:10:27

That’s wonderful news soop I’m so very pleased for you, lots to plan and look forward to now
Hi to best4me ? I think theres a forum specifically for recipies, if you search Forums - Food , this a a lovely friendly chatty thread and you’re welcome on here anytime
The weather here today has been awful, sleety snowy rain and soooo cold ? I went to an aerobics class at the gym and then I sat in Costa coffee for a wee while with my kindle whilst it was hailstoning outside
DH had a flat tyre on the car but he managed to change it ok in the wind and rain - rather him than me
Hoping all the covid grans feel much better soon - take care everyone

dragonfly46 Thu 07-Apr-22 17:50:37

Just popped to say what excellent news that is soop. I hope it means you can get together with your family soon.

I am feeling so much better now after Covid. In a way I am pleased I have had it and got it out of the way - a can go out and about without worrying for a few weeks!

Best4me Thu 07-Apr-22 17:49:15

Sorry folk but I am not IT savvy, I often make mistakes and I am new to Gransnet. So forgive me if I should be able to find soop’s recipes, can anyone help?

Really good news Soop
It must be lovely for you to be enjoying life again.

Chocolatelovinggran Thu 07-Apr-22 17:27:49

Great news, Soop. X

Grandmabatty Thu 07-Apr-22 17:14:31

Excellent news Soop. I have defrosted and cleaned the freezer and it's back on again, albeit empty at the moment. My aunt called in this morning and the house was in uproar. I was embarrassed at the state of it. The rest of the pizza tonight (sorry Soop) and I might open a bottle of wine. The rain has stopped here and it's brightening up but the heating will have to go on as I'm cold! Nice to see you back Charliegirl.

GrannySomerset Thu 07-Apr-22 17:13:25

After three days without heat and hot water the boiler man has been and the house is slowly warming up. Will never take a working system for granted again!

Starting to feel better and less sorry for myself, and am delighted by Soop’s good news as well as hearing about new babies and everyone’s efforts and exertions.
