SueDonim Enjoy! How lovely for you and the family.

brook You will have a memorable time. I wish that we had a few more like we enjoyed when our grandson was a wee lad. Priceless memories.

Grannmarie My good wishes for your family to recover with haste from Covid. As for the wee Covid warrior with a space boot...I wouldn't mind betting that he's just a tad proud to show it off.

Urms It is a grey, blowy, wet day in bonnie Kintyre. A friend has phoned to say that she's on her way to have a blether and a brew

Nannytopsy Tue 05-Apr-22 14:13:33

Phew! It’s taken me ages to catch up!
Lovely news Blossoming!
We spent the weekend without DD & SIL who have just found out it’s a boy and are very excited. There is lots of talk about names without actually mentioning one ?. Over halfway now!
DS’s tribe are over Covid ( although still tired) and are now coming to the end of chicken pox. Surely that’s the end?!
Mary Berry’s apple sponge sandwich on the side!

soop Tue 05-Apr-22 13:02:31

nanna8 We all send a gentle group 9hug0 and wish you a speedy and full recovery. flowers

Hellogirl You have made me smile. In spite of buggerations, you maintain a sense of humour. X

soop Tue 05-Apr-22 12:59:27

CharleyG You are one of Us Lot. Enough said. I rest my case. wink

Chocolatelovinggran Tue 05-Apr-22 11:52:52

Best wishes for a speedy recovery, nanna8.

nanna8 Tue 05-Apr-22 11:38:45

Thanks for wishes lovely ladies. I am so longing to be ‘free’ again and it is cheering to be in touch with others

Grannmarie Mon 04-Apr-22 23:36:27

Thank you, Brook, I wish you luck for your childcare and sleepover, I'm sure you'll all have a great time, making memories!

Nanna8, wishing you a speedy and complete recovery. ? ?

SueD, sounds like a wonderful family get together, enjoy!

Hellogirl1 Mon 04-Apr-22 22:59:42

I`ve no idea about your reasons for leaving CharleyG, but please don`t stay away too long. I look forward to your pots, especially the ones concerning pets.
The other week I had 3 things go wrong, cost me a fair bit, today I started another 3 when my gas insert fire went wrong. The engineer I called out says the gubbins are shot at, and I need a new fire, so that`s being installed tomorrow. My childrens` inheritance is going down alarmingly!

Blossoming Mon 04-Apr-22 22:29:23

Aw nanna8 that sounds dire! I hope you’re free soon flowers

Goodnight all, TOYA

SueDonim Mon 04-Apr-22 22:09:23

Don’t be a stranger for too long, Charliegirl. flowers

We waved our youngest off back to Yorkshire today. How quickly five days passes when you’re having fun. sad She’ll be home again briefly in May and is getting an in-person graduation in July so we’ve that to look forward to.

Still have ds2 and dd1 and families here - a mere eight of us to cater for now! grin

No time for more but TOYA. xxx

Stuck on Norfolk Island with COVID . Only allowed to stay in one tiny room and quite hot and no aircon. Grizzle grizzle now I know what convicts feel like. The people here are lovely but it’s driving me off my tree can’t wait to get home

brook2704 Mon 04-Apr-22 21:42:12

Oh my goodness grannmarie just shows you how quickly things can happen - I hope your little DGS is fine and the space boot removed soon!
Also hoping all the covid warriors out there recover quickly and kitty you get your energy back and you’re soon raring to go
A lovely story Blossoming
Hope you feel better soon dusty and your iPad behaves itself
I’m going to bed soon and having an early night in readiness for looking after both DGC tomorrow and Wednesday. They’ll be having a sleepover tomorrow night so wish me luck! ?

‘Evening All’

It’s been a chilly day here in south Manchester. We’ve just spent the day doing pretty much nothing. A bit of reading, keeping cosy, some tv watching, cooking and eating dinner. Quite restful & enjoyable really.

Congratulations Blossoming you have a new baby in your family. Bet you can’t wait for a cuddle when the time comes. x

Grannmarie Mon 04-Apr-22 21:23:57

Good evening, lovely Kitchen people! ?

Soop, how wonderful to hear that you feel ready for painting again, that's a good sign of your progress.

Grandmabatty, hope everything went well for you.

Dusty, please keep popping in, even just to say Hello. ?

Charleygirl, I am oblivious to whatever has been going on, but I hope you return to our kindly Kitchen very soon, please keep reading!

Kitty, I hope you feel a wee bit stronger soon. My sister was plagued by fatigue after she had Covid. Just rest when you need to, listen to your body.

On the subject of covid, DS3 has joined his brother in testing positive today. His lovely partner works in a nursing home, it has finally caught up with her. So, my three sons and my three grandchildren have all had covid now...I don't know how Papa and I have escaped it so far...

Also, wee Covid warrior, DGS2, jumped off the sofa today and ended up in A and E at the Children's Hospital, he has injured his leg and was sent home wearing a space boot! Normally we would have rushed over to see him and offer help, but he and his Daddy have Covid so I'm thankful for video calls. DS2 and DiL have been told to keep him off his feet, not sure how they're going to manage that with an active toddler!

I met up with my childhood friend today, we left our cars at the valeting centre and went for a leisurely coffee and catch up while the cars were being titivated, well worth it!

I'm relaxing in front of the Monday night quizzes on BBC2, thoroughly enjoyed the final of University Challenge, what a brilliant young team!

TOYA, NNGB ???

Thank you so much for the warm wishes.

When my niece was planning her wedding in 2017 Mr. B and I were all geared up for the big day, new frock purchased, hairdresser booked, etc. when I fell ill. 6 days before the wedding I was in hospital having my sigmoid colon removed. I was determined to make it to the wedding and I did. I made it through the service but I couldn’t manage the celebrations afterwards. My lovely niece brought me some wedding cake a few days later. Now here she is, a mother. I’m overwhelmed with love for all my nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. So precious.

kittylester Mon 04-Apr-22 20:09:59

Or even feeling the same?

kittylester Mon 04-Apr-22 20:09:25

I echo everyone else, * charley*. Ignore the nasties out there.

Really fed up with post covid exhaustion. Any one else feong the same?

dustyangel Mon 04-Apr-22 17:25:06

I second brook’s comment Charleygirl, I enjoy your posts even though I’m an intermittent poster myself. That’s partly because there is very little worth talking about happening in my life at the moment. My pelvis is healing but has stirred up an old back injury combined with very sore heels from just one week in bed.

However I’m very glad to see so many of you in this newest kitchen, I’ve tried to catch up but was seriously hampered by problems with my iPad all over the weekend. Every time I tried to look at anything, there was a brief glimpse and then straight back to the home page, so frustrating.

Return to the Tech repair shop after the weekend was threatened but having tried today yet again simply turning it off and waiting to turn it back on again, it just might have worked.

If there’s any going a cup of coffee and a large slice of slice of something delicious would be really nice.

brook2704 Mon 04-Apr-22 16:47:51

Please come back here soon charleygirl we’ll all miss you

MawtheMerrier Mon 04-Apr-22 16:47:19

May I add how nice it is to read you are back in action, painting Soop, but I’d give the ironing a miss if I were you!

MawtheMerrier Mon 04-Apr-22 16:46:10

Charleygirl - take no notice.
It bothers me when established friends whom we have got to know over the years are suddenly accused of being rude, intolerant or a whole raft of negative characteristics.
(Remember even Phoenix and the Doghouse Grans? We were fiends incarnate it seemed and beyond the pale) )
Now any one of us can feel strongly about an issue, but personalities do not change so when somebody who perhaps does not know someone goes off on one, or should I say leaps to the attack , perhaps the fault lies in their perception?
#justsaying as Jingl might have said.

Congratulations to Great Aunt Blossoming on the birth of baby William. I just popped in with some warm shortbread and the baby news has cheered me up on a very grey day here.

soop Mon 04-Apr-22 16:09:46

I added a long-ish message a few moments ago. It has mysteriously vanished into the ether. I am not amused. hmm

I wished to say that I am thinking about all those of our kitcheners with health problems to cope with. We all need the sun to shine upon us.

I have a small heap of ironing to attend to. Nothing major. No need to scold me. Honest. grin

Tomorrow, I shall return to catch up with your news and views. Until then, smile moon

soop Mon 04-Apr-22 15:57:39

Blossoming Us lot send a gentle group (((hug))) to new baby William. It was my father's middle name and it is also our eldest grandsons. A very fine name it is too. May the world be kind to him and may he reach his full potential.

Charleyg I am dismayed to hear that you will be absent for a time. I trust that nothing serious is going to keep you from the kitchen. If you wish to share anything with me, please private message me and, if I am able, I will try to help you. flowers

Isn't our kitchen a busy gathering place. So many new Granspals to welcome and get to know better as time goes by. You are all very welcome.

It is raining. I have been asked to paint a portrait of a handsome dog. It will be a gift from one of my oldest pals to give to her daughter on the occasion of a special wedding anniversary. I have plenty of time in which to work on it. It will be a therapeutic exercise. Mr Soop is preparing to help me to prepare the so-called art studio. A red letter day.

Doodle Mon 04-Apr-22 14:46:26

Charleygirl I’m so sorry. You will be missed. I hope you are ok. Please come back soon if you can. Take care
