Should i visit reims, dijon or Orleans as a day trip fro Paris?

I have never been to Paris, but I know all 3 of those cities, and they are all lovely. Personally I would head for Dijon as you are getting into serious gastronomic France and would come back with lovely goodies!
Reims cathedral is wonderful and you can see the cheeky carvings left by irreverent stone masons.

As I write this, I realise that my personal map of France is totally about food & wine!

I take it you've been to Versailles?

I haven't been to Dijon it looks a long way from Paris, much further south, it always seemed to me once you cross the Loire in France it becomes much hotter and maybe that place is a must for mustard! I have wonderful memories of Lyon, love the way the two rivers Saone and Rhone converge to produce an island effect in the centre, quite a unique feature and of course it's the gastronomic capital of France, I'm sure you'll enjoy that part of your holiday. The other two are both lovely cities, have stayed in Reims and spent a day in Orleans which is pretty close to Paris if that is a consideration.

I also loved Blois, south of Orleans, fairly small compact city easy to walk around thought it was lovely, but then many cities are in France.

I haven't been to any of these places, but I would recommend Versailles or Monets gardens at Giverny

Another vote for Monet's house and garden; after visiting I was inspired to use the same colours that he had chosen for my kitchen at the time!

Lyons is good for foodies, why not look at past tv travel programmes to France. I think I saw one recently. We have been watching Emily in Paris and it’s so nice to see it.
Monet’s jardin is definitely worth a visit.
France is a lovely country.

All of those places are hugely worthwhile, though Lyon is a long way. Is Troyes too far? Often missed, but a delightful medieval city. Chartres is not far from Paris by train and has a wonderful cathedral, as does Amiens.

Chartres is def worth a visit.
