I got all her GN questions but I would never have her calm serenity in the Black Chair.

I agree, nothing to do with age, rather it is time doing something. A gymnast can be a veteran at 20, a footballer a veteran at 35.

I don't think it implies age at all.

I'm ex services. Often referred to as a veteren. Doesn't bother me. Not sure if there is a fixed age for attainment but somewhere in my head says 60. May well be wrong.....

Agree DaisyAnne that's how I understand the word too.

A veteran is a veteran "of something", not just an older person. In sport, you can be and compete as a veteran at quite an early age. People are "veterans" of war after they stop fighting so at varying ages.

It isn't an age. Perhaps it was a reference to how long the person has been on Mastermind.

I prefer the word "vintage". Like a fine wine. I am 73. wink smile

Mastermind winner yesterday was described as ‘veteran’ - she is now 67. I am older than that and I would be insulted by that description. Also thought some of the questions were a bit easy. Well done to her.
