It was entered exactly the same as any other word on Wordle, from their own letters. You can't choose whether it has capitals or not.

Think it is a proper noun nonetheless?

I think it's because April is the name of a month, rather than a word

Perhaps they don't allow proper nouns only improper ones

Most of the improper ones only have four letters, not five, Callistemon, though you could just add an S and make them plural.

April is a proper noun so obviously not accepted March would be accepted because it means to walk

April is a woman's name and also the name of my neighbour's cat.

Remember it is an American game, and subject to their mores

I use two versions of Wordle , the New York Times version and a UK based one .
Agree with you as to some words not being part of it , mainly with US link some words might be written the USA way.
But the UK one unlike other , you play all day .
