a tax scam from HMRC

Had one today saying they were going to put a stop on my passport. Oh well no holiday for me this year. LoL
Joking aside this could upset some people. I thought the same as Jill57 about the start of the new tax year.

Any suspicious texts report them on your phone to 7726.

Any calls say loudly this is a scam. Your number may be taken off their list of gullible to call (not guaranteed)

There is an e mail address mailto:[email protected] to report suspicious e mails

The HMRC frauds are a favourite with fraudsters at this time of year as the new tax year starts and rebates may be genuinely due from the previous year, thus people can be more liable to get fooled.

Together we could all pay a good barrister to get us off...hopefully

I got a call from an automated call the other day telling me a warrant had been issued for my arrest unless I paid up.

A new scam I’m aware of is people being contacted for their bank details, allegedly to refund £150 Council Tax. The genuine scheme is working slower than expected, but paying by DD means the refund will automatically be credited to the account making the payments.

Oh, me too, henetha; I've been expecting the Fraud Squad to arrive on my doorstep any time.

I've got the tea and biscuits ready.

I've had a warrant out for my arrest for months now, - apparently! First for non payment of tax. Then for fraud.
It's frightening at first.

I think I had that in the past; frightening if you don't know it is a scam. Thank you.
