What really stupid things, that do not impact on your life, really annoy you?

For me:

The expression 'reach out'

People jumping into shorts and sun dresses the minute the temperature rises above 13 degrees

Signs with apostrophes in the wrong place.

Lexisgranny Tue 19-Apr-22 22:29:55

Answers starting with ‘So……..’. The word ‘’Woke’. People who have ‘been on a journey.’ Those who ‘reach out’ to others. Things/people that are ‘cancelled’ or ‘ghosted’. People who say ‘I’m not going to lie’ - what do they want….. a medal?

PS I think Victor Meldrew was a very sound chap.

Women who need to check what their husbands are doing before they can arrange to meet.

kircubbin2000 Tue 19-Apr-22 22:20:54

Sorry, didn't read that.

Skydancer

Oh and people who write chest of draws.

Drawers! But you did that on purpose.?

Antonia Tue 19-Apr-22 22:09:35

And 'my bad' and 'I'm good thanks.'

Antonia Tue 19-Apr-22 22:08:03

Sorry, just noticed Lilypop's post!

The almost pathologic insertion of the word 'like' in every sentence.

It, like, really annoys me!!

Oh, and all the aforementioned things too.

When people say 'Everyone wants.......' as in
Everyone wants a kitchen island
Everyone wants more money
Everyone wants a wine fridge

No they don't. Not everyone. I don't.

My teeth also itch when anyone describes an item of clothing as 'an investment piece.'

GSM, think you've definitely topped this thread so far. Bravo!

John Torode telling Masterchef contestants they’re about to cook ‘for Greg and I.’

Celebrities giving their children stupid names like Apple, Storm and Blaze.

I will hug the first celebrity to call their child Susan, Michael or Jane and hopefully start a new trend.

Babies wearing bow headbands

When people eat, and the sound seems to come out the top of their heads.
Almost as if the crunching in echoing around their skull.

Esspee Tue 19-Apr-22 19:15:20

When people say “def-in-ATE-ly” it makes my toes curl. You just know they also spell it incorrectly.

GagaJo Tue 19-Apr-22 19:12:35

This is such a silly one. But noise in general. My ears literally ring at times, with noises that are minor for most people. I hate it.

Esspee Tue 19-Apr-22 19:11:24

I am still puzzling about hour. I always understood the h to be silent so thought I was pronouncing it correctly. That’s not true. I have have never given it a moment’s thought…until now.

Would someone please put me out of my misery.

I say “ower”.

How is hour supposed to be pronounced?

Kate1949 Tue 19-Apr-22 19:11:03

This isn't something that shouldn't annoy me. It's something that really does annoy me

Serendipity22 Tue 19-Apr-22 19:09:31

The 1 thing that infuriates me is dropping pegs when I am hanging washing out. It isn't as if I grab more than
is needed to attach the item of clothing to the washing line.

You can bet your bottom dollar 1 of the bloomin things will escape from my grip and bounce on the ground and ofcourse we are NOW in the dropping pegs season.

Hey ho angry

Agree Nannee I would never comment if such terms as ‘passed’ or ‘lost’ were used in conversation. It’s just manners.

Picking up a magazine in a shop and loads of junk leaflets fall out.

Junk mail through the post.

Charity chuggers.

People who say "My bad."

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 19-Apr-22 18:58:40

Sue Black is wonderful Flora. She told me that science is solace for the soul. I don’t entirely agree but she does wonderful work giving an identity to the dead.

Millie22 Tue 19-Apr-22 18:55:01

O no I do some of these things ?

I don't always indicate at roundabouts and I sometimes tuck my hair behind my ears when it gets too long.

Grandmajean Tue 19-Apr-22 18:53:47

So so many already mentioned but here's one that all Scots will understand. Why, except in Scotland , is Auld Lang Syne pronounced Auld Lang Zyne ? Syne means since and you wouldn't say zince !
I'll hide behind the couch (sofa , settee, ) now !
