PS. Urms, so glad you found your mum's ring and GG, that your DD feels much better today. ?

Marydoll Thu 05-May-22 07:48:30

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 10°C. Mick, you should join the Wordle thread. If you don't know how to post your score, one of us will help you.

GM, a difficult day to get through yesterday, pleased to hear that you had the support of your family.
Baubles, I was going to say, have a restful day today, but not possible when you are looking after a wee one.

Yesterday turned out to be rather busy. My emergency dentist appointment, which took three weeks to get, is going to be an expensive one. The rescued crown cannot be re-inserted and the old pin is stuck in my gum. A new one is required. I am so relieved, that something can be done. The dentist sealed off the gap, as I am susceptible to infection. Although permanently on antibiotics, it was still concerning me, due to my compromised immune system. The first available appointment is June!
LFL, I hope your husband is luckier than me.

We also had a visit from a British Gas engineer, who at last, had the parts to fix the shower room radiator. I came back from the dentist, to find he was still there, he had found yet another problem. They heating system was drained twice, which meant he was unexpectedly in the upstairs rooms. I am doing yet another Swedish death clean, before DD and SIL move in, in a few weeks time. I was mortified, there was stuff lying everywhere, waiting to be sorted for the charity shop. I found some of the Dollie's baby clothes from when we looked after her. Some of the clothes are brand new, so the charity shop will benefit. I felt quite emotional when I saw how tiny ?they were. Happy days!

To cap it all, just as we were going to bed, DH noticed a damp patch on the kitchen ceiling. ? Plumbers around here, are as rare as hen's teeth, oh dear!

DH is driving me to Lidl (oh joy!), as I'm not really up to doing it on my own at the moment. I wonder what rubbish we will return home with! If I come back with a veggie box, I will be very pleased! ?

I will come back later to read all your news.
In the meantime, if you are travelling, safe journey, if you have plans, enjoy and if life is a struggle, I wish you a gentle day.
Sar, I hope your DH feels better soon and you can enjoy your holiday.

ShazzaKanazza the other cage is going on Saturday, I donated it, and the run to a local lady who rescues animals.

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s grey but dry and mild
Enjoy your very well deserved massage today GM after a difficult day yesterday
Today I’m off to my dance aerobics class at the gym and then back home to potter in the garden.
Those cute little Guinea pigs look like they’ve got a lovely new home scentia ?
A lovely place Sar and thanks for the link Ashcombe hoping your DH feels a bit better soon Sar
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings ?

Chrissielou Thu 05-May-22 07:23:42

A grey start here in rural Oxfordshire, it is milder though so I'm hopeful for some sunshine. Plants we've grown from seed are strong enough to be planted out now, we have literally hundreds so it will be quite a job at the weekend!
DD1 had a worrying couple of days with a slight temperature after her chemo session but it seems to have settled without a hospital visit.
Another work day for me, but a shorter week which is good.
I hope you all have a happy Thursday.

Pittcity Thu 05-May-22 07:15:00

Good morning from an overcast Colchester.
Loads of laundry today as it rained all day yesterday and today is forecast to be dry. I'll also fit in a walk to Aldi for a top up.
We always vote by post feelingmyage55 and did so ages ago. Tomorrow's results will be interesting.
The sun is beginning to peek out as I type.
Love to all ? x

ShazzaKanazza Thu 05-May-22 07:10:24

Good Morning Mick and everyone from a bright blue skied Hull I’m so looking forward to the promised hot weather. We have rain forecast tomorrow but then that’s all for a good while. Just had a walk around the garden and it’s amazing how it’s perked up from the showers it smells lovely as well from the rain.

Mick my husband loves wordle and is pretty good at word puzzles but it sometimes gets the better of him. I do a game called Wordscapes but that’s about it though I do enjoy a code word.

grandMattie I was thinking of you yesterday and wondering how your day was going. It’s heartening to hear all your positives from a difficult day. Enjoy your massage today you thoroughly deserve it?

GrannyGravy sorry to hear about your disturbed night and your worries over your DD. Hopefully you can catch a nap later.

Do you have other animals around your garden Scentia? I can see other cages in the picture. Your Guinea pigs are very cute.

We have no voting today it’s not in our area.

Enjoy your day everyone if you can. ??

Jaxjacky Thu 05-May-22 07:09:58

Morning all from a blue sky in S Hants.
A fitting day for the memories of your Phillip grandMattie your massage is well deserved.
I hope your daughter improves today GG13 it sounds very traumatic.
Admin completed yesterday, today is the voluntary phones, I must water too, no rain for a long time even though it keeps being forecast.
Have the best day if you can ??

Ashcombe Thu 05-May-22 07:07:36

What a beautiful area you’ve chosen, Sar53, with some stunning towns not too far away. Here’s a link for any Gransnetters who'd like to know more about where you are.

Hope the sun soon appears and DH recovers.

Oopsadaisy1 Thu 05-May-22 07:05:38

Good morning Nick and everyone, well done with Wordle Mick .
It’s another grey day in Oxfordshire although yesterday turned out to be a sunny day.
Hairdresser is here this morning, MrOops is out with his mate and hopefully collecting his car from the garage with his mate, it will save me driving him to fetch it later.
I’ve pulled some summery clothes out ready for our break in Devon, heavily weighted in favour of warm clothes with just a couple of short sleeved tops, so I’ll neither freeze or boil.?
Hope everyone has a peaceful and calm day.

Sar53 Thu 05-May-22 06:54:08

Good morning from Bram where the sun was out but has now disappeared.
We visited Castelnaudry yesterday and had an enjoyable lunch.
We had a lot of rain during the evening and overnight but hopefully after today the weather is set to improve.
I'm not sure what we are doing today as DH has a cold and has been feeling under the weather.
I'm pleased to hear that yesterday went well GM.
Have a lovely Thursday everyone and let's hope that the sun starts shining soon ?

GrannyGravy13 Thu 05-May-22 06:48:52

Morning Mick and all

The sky is blue, the sun is shining let’s hope it will stay that way.

I had a terrible night, the foxes that live in my garden were partying all night, which kept me awake, plus I was listening out for DD who was still quiet poorly which is why they all stayed here. The 7yr old woke us up at 6.20am as he didn’t want to disturb The Imp or his mum.

Hopefully if the drugs kick in this morning they will return home (all of 5mins along the road)

I must get to the retail park today to pick up an order from Boots along with some goodies in M & S Foodhall, then on to Sainsbury's or Aldi for a proper shop.

grandMattie I do hope that having yours and Phillips family around you helped you and your DH yesterday ?

Keep safe and well folks ??‍♀️

Scentia Thu 05-May-22 06:47:39

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where the sun is out!!
On nanna duties today and we will go to the garden centre and spend some money I think!!
The Guinea Pigs have a new house, I just need to decide where to put it in the garden.
Grandmattie I hope you enjoy your massage today.
Take care my friends and I attach a little picture of my furry friends to make you smile.❤️

baubles Thu 05-May-22 06:45:03

Good morning all from cloudy South Lanarkshire.

I’m pleased to hear that yesterday went well gM.

I’m wiped out after an extremely busy day at work followed by a very broken night. I’ll have to get myself together though as we’re off to childmind in a while, got to drop daft dug off at doggy day care first though.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Ashcombe Thu 05-May-22 06:33:59

Good morning, all, from a bright Torbay with a beautiful blue sky.

It sounds like you had the perfect commemoration of what would have been Philip's 40th birthday, grandMattie, with the support of your DD being a comfort. It’s good to hear a restful night followed. Relax and enjoy your massage today!

Today, I shall continue to plough through the washing which always seems to accumulate when DH goes back to France. This afternoon, I have my Jhoom Class where we do (age appropriate!) routines with an Indian flavour. My favourite part is at the end when we have restful music for relaxing!

Enjoy whatever you plan for today. ??????

grandMattie Thu 05-May-22 06:28:50

FmMA55, we did, thank you. I managed to persuade DH to have some oral morphine before going to bed. Helps a lot…

BlueBalou Thu 05-May-22 06:27:54

Good morning everyone from rural Wiltshire, it’s a bright start here.
Off for a much needed facial later, an hour of pampering. Other than that I have the usual mundane stuff to do and if it’s warm enough I will sit in the garden later.
Have a good day everyone x

Feelingmyage55 Thu 05-May-22 06:23:33

Good morning from a wet north of Scotland. I am up much earlier than usual in order to vote at 7 am. I have a busy day and don’t want to be voting later an have to queue. After voting I am doing an early shop then putting away the heavy winter clothes and bringing out the lighter weight items. I hope that the summery clothes still fit.
GM I hope you and MrGM have had a reasonable night.
Best wishes to all.

grandMattie Thu 05-May-22 06:16:33

Good morning from a bright E Kent.
We had a good, if sad , day yesterday. We all went to our church and lit a candle for Philip, then went home for a piece of cake. DH loved it but it wiped him out.
DD went home in the late afternoon. It was wonderful to see her. She will be coming back in a fortnight. I think that having seen very little of her brother before he died, she isn’t going to make the same mistake with her father.
Today, I shall at last have my long awaited birthday massage. Really look forward to it. While I’m out, my friend is coming over to give DH communion, bless her.
Hope everyone finds some peace and nuggets of joy today. Carpe diem. ???❤️????

cornergran Thu 05-May-22 06:15:16

Morning Mick, morning All from a bright corner of Somerset.

Yesterday didn’t go to plan, some family upset shared rather took over. Hoping for a potter in the garden and some sorting today, may get that walk.

Enjoy your day and weekend Mick.

Hope Friday is as good as it can be for us all.

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 05-May-22 06:13:02

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. It’s too early to tell what the weather might be! Hopefully I’m having a quieter day today after a very busy Wednesday. Yesterday I made our favourite strawberry ice cream and prepared a Barmbrack ready for baking today. It was the monthly WI coffee morning, which was fun. Later the WI committee meeting. One of our committee is annoyingly loud, but she gets away with it for a multitude of reasons! OH and I went to our favourite local restaurant and had delicious steak and all the trimmings. Sadly, one of OH’s crowns crumbled into several pieces so he must try and get an emergency dental appointment today. We also skipped pudding as he wanted to get home and watch the second half of the Champions League semi final!

Michael12 Thu 05-May-22 06:02:24
