Anyone been to Malta ?

We went several years ago in May, loved it.

Spent a day at Mdina found it so interesting.
Lots of history to see if you are interested, Valletta architecture was stunning.

Found some lovely restaurants, people were so friendly. It was easy to avoid the bars, nightlife, just ask your hotel receptionist/concierge for recommendations.

I didn't like it at all. We went to Sliema. It's a very busy place, with lots of bars, shops, a market, and lots of traffic. It's got a beach (no sand, just concrete bathing platforms). There was hardly any greenery anywhere. Croatia is nicer, we love Porec.

My question is, has anyone been to Malta?

Reason being, we have booked, I have never been, husband has years ago, says its like Marmite, you either love it or hate it !!, hmmm. Everyone I ask says its beautiful, so I thought I would ask everyone here too.
