Good Morning Everyone,
Its looking grey and wet here in brackley this morning.
More or less prepacked for my one night away on a coach trip mystery to Llandudno .
The itinerary reads as a stop on the way back maybe another resort down the road or somewhere else before returning home tomorrow .
Take Care,
Mick

Lovely memories Paddyanne. I’m pleased to say that the one I was at today was a very small gathering in the child’s garden. She wore a pretty, age appropriate dress which had been handed down from a friend. No extravagant nonsense.

As an aside, my family say of a particularly tight fisted adult, “he still has his communion money”! ?

Blossoming Sat 07-May-22 16:19:48

Your simple service sounds much better and more meaningful to me too PaddyAnn, what a lovely memory.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 07-May-22 15:57:19

Oh dear kittylester you have got troubles aplenty sending (((hugs)))

paddyann54 Sat 07-May-22 15:53:09

I'm usually just a lurker on here ,so Good Morning all .The mention of First Communions has drawn me in ,it was 61 years ago today I made mine .In a classroom of a "temporary" catholic school in a new Glasgow housing scheme. No church had been built and no school for our area.
I remember it as though it was yesterday the no food from the night before ,the sicky tummy from nerves and hunger .
The breakfast in another classroom ,I remember the egg sandwiches and the gift of a white rosary .
It was a lifetime ago ,nowadays local communions have big parties in hotels ,dresses that cost hundreds of pounds and collect cash from friends and relatives at the sit down meal where wine flows free for the adults.
Now I feel really old.My simple service and egg sandwiches seem much better .
My Dad made his FC on the same day ,he was a convert and he got a white rosary too .

Good morning from the Scottish Borders. A warm day forecast.
I managed quite a bit of gardening yesterday.
I hope you enjoy the mystery tour Mick and the weather is kind.
I once had to judge a Hallowe'en fancy dress Urms. One little witch had lost her front teeth so she won! I think the others cried "unfair"

So sorry Nankate about your friend. Getting used to losing a loved one takes time.
Your treatment by the medical team gMattie has been mixed to say the least. I hope DH has a better day and night.

I'm off to pick flowers for our community cafe tables.
I shall think of those patios in Cordoba Pantglas I am jealous

Grandmadinosaur Sat 07-May-22 11:43:32

I forgot to wish Grannmarie a safe journey home today.

Blossoming Sat 07-May-22 11:06:24

Good morning Mick and everyone. It’s sunny in my corner of Lancashire, currently 9°C but feeling warmer sat in the sun.

Mr. B took me for a meander along the yesterday, a rare treat! It was dull and rainy but we still enjoyed ourselves. We finished up having lunch at a lovely quayside pub, then meandered home again and sank into a happy carb coma, not used to bigger lunches nowadays.counter showed I had done 1,000 steps in each shop and I was very tired when we got home. Today’s plans are a little housework and a gentle stroll.

Last night I learned that my autistic great nephew, (now 18 good heavens) is a rock star! His mother (my niece) sent me some photos of him playing at a well known rock venue, a bar not a stadium (yet). He had his struggles as a child and his mum had to fight hard to access the services he needed. I am beyond proud of both of them today and I have asked him for his autograph.

Enjoy your trip Mick, and enjoy your travels Oops. Cordoba sounds fabulous Pantglas and how good there are chamberpots in Spain too grin

Sorry yesterday didn’t go well Grandmattie, hope your poor DH finds some relief today.

Matt is very apt today Urmstongran!

Glad your DD is feeling better GrannyGravy.

Condolences to Ashcombe and NanKate, so sad to lose friends flowers

KittyLester you have more than enough on your plate without those further complications, virtual hugs coming your way ❤️

How frustrating your outfit arrived late GrannySomerset, I hope there is another happy occasion to wear it some time soon.

Have a lovely sunny Ibiza day Grandmadinosaur

A warm welcome to any new members I have missed recently.

Thinking of all our grans going through difficult times.

Wishing everyone the best day possible with a ?or two along the way.

Taichinan Sat 07-May-22 10:51:53

And now you've gott both attempts! Sorry.

Taichinan Sat 07-May-22 10:48:35

This is the little fellow in the barley field - the original didn't post for some reason.

NannyJan53 Sat 07-May-22 10:44:57

Such a lot for you to contend with kitty I hope things improve flowers

Taichinan Sat 07-May-22 10:34:56

Good morning all from the Angus coast, where I woke to see this little fellow in the barley field - a good start to a rather dull day. The washing machine has just finished its stuff and now the rain has started! I decided not to replace my tumble drier when it died at the beginning of January (for reasons of climate change and the cost of electricity - so not entirely altruistic!) and this is the first time I have been unlucky, so can't complain really.
What a lot of worry, illness and sadness there is on here today. flowers to all, particularly grandmattie and her DH. How ridiculous that someone so poorly can be treated like that. I do hope today is a better day. Lovely to hear of all the holidays and sunshine. Have a great trip to Llandudno Mick. And I'm looking forward to hearing about the old town of Carcassonne - a place that has captured my imagination after reading Kate Moss's books. After all the taxiing for the DGDs last week, it's back to the quiet life again here. Luckily I'm a 'quiet' soul and am happy to live my life vicariously now through the family. DS1, who sold their house the first weekend it went on the market a couple of weeks ago (an offer that was too good to turn down) have in turn had their offer accepted on the smaller house they wanted, which is a relief. They have about six weeks to ready for the move - with a two week holiday to Crete to fit in as well! Oh to be young, as they say. Now off I go to see what I'm going to do with that washing. Have the best day you can everybody x

Good morning from a beautifully sunny Ibiza.

I have been ironing! A few of my things were a bit creased and I also bought a dress yesterday that needed creases getting rid of. So all done now and rest of the day to spend relaxing. This evening my DH’s football team are playing so he has to decide which bar to watch it in. With the time difference I understand it’s a 9 pm start. Oh deep joy ?

Córdoba and Mijas on travels today eh? I love Mijas. Not been to Córdoba but I’ve heard it’s a lovely place.

Enjoy sister time Shazza

Condolences NanKate it will be a big loss to lose a dear friend

GM what can I say. At a difficult time when things don’t go as planned it adds extra stress and worry. Not what either of you need. ?

All those with travels today enjoy.

Take care everyone.

GrannySomerset Sat 07-May-22 10:21:24

The outfit I had ordered for last week’s wedding arrived this morning and would have been perfect. A minor frustration in comparison with granMattie and kittylester’s posts this morning but still annoying.

Lots of lovely trips and holidays act as a reminder that a normal life will happen, sooner rather than later for some. Fourth jab has left me a bit flattened but that could be entirely in my mind.

A memorial service and a concert later today, and tomorrow am joining a friend, her DSiL and GD for the Downton Abbey film, so a really busy weekend in my modest terms!

EkwaNimitee Sat 07-May-22 10:19:53

Good morning Mick and everyone from a lovely sunny Carlisle. A pleasant change from yesterday when it rained most of the day. I have already been out for a stroll round the lake in the park, just me and a few dog walkers. The resident swans are nesting so we should soon see some little ones. There were 7 last year, all grown up and chased off by the parents over winter I presume.
Today, probably a telephone gossip with my sister, a bit of pootling about in the garden and the re-reading of an old book. I've kept lots of books for years thinking they were worth another read sometime. The sometime has often proved to be decades and some of them have proved not worth the keeping. I'm regularly popping in to Oxfam's bookshop here.
I'm sorry to hear about your trials grandMattie, how thoughtless to drag your poor DH out on a fruitless trip. I keep hoping his pain problems will be greatly improved but it's seemingly a difficult thing to achieve.
Matt gave me a good chuckle over breakfast Urmston, he's always spot on and I wonder how hard that is for him. Perhaps not.
Have a good weekend everyone especially if you have struggles of any kind.

Gwenisgreat1 Sat 07-May-22 10:03:37

Good Morning from cloudy Harrogate
Yes, Mick enjoy Llandudno - we left it in almost good condition last Saturday with a Victorian Fair in Full Swing.
Enjoy your travels Panglas I've never been to Cordoba, but Urmston I have been to Benalmadena and Mijas, both lovely places, had a strong Sangria in Bernalmadena then found a hill very tricky!!
Hope your journey goes to plan Oops.
Sorry your trip to the hospital was a waste of time Grandmattie you don't need that!
Sorry about your friend Nankate and hope things get easier for you Kittylester
Have the best day possible folks!

kittylester Sat 07-May-22 09:43:01

Thank you NannyJan. I'm fine just a bit whacked.

We have had DD's results and treatment plan, people with dementia refusing to answer the phonecand being visited by police to have their car keys taken off them, people falling down stairs and ending up in hospital, people with covid, job interviews and, the giddy limit, Persie fell over in the playground and broke her shoulder. Oh, and I had a uti.

It's been a quiet few days really!! grin

NanKate Sat 07-May-22 09:40:50

Thanks for your kind words folks ?

BlueSapphire Sat 07-May-22 09:40:30

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny ?Northampton. Towels are in the washing machine and should dry nicely today.

Had a nice little shopping outing yesterday, and came home with new denim leggings, as if I needed them!! I shall soon have to swap my summer and winter wardrobes.

Will cut the grass later, and then tackle the last bit of weeding; may then sit and read in the garden, if there's any time left after all that activity.

Hoping for a pleasant day for all.

hulahoop Sat 07-May-22 09:18:33

Morning from a bright York's .Washing out forecast is for rain later .We are meeting Dd and gc in park later .Sorry to hear you have lost a friend .Kitty hope things settle down for you .Have a great time all on holiday and trips .Ash I know how you feel at beginning of lockdown I had to get police to break in my neighbours house where he was found it was a surreal time it was made harder because of social distancing .

harrigran Sat 07-May-22 09:06:45

Good morning from a dry and mild NE.
My sister has at last had a negative test result after two weeks, she will be popping in today.
SIL will be coming for dinner tonight.
Yesterday I had a phone call telling me I had to have my gas meter replaced, made the arrangements and then felt very uncomfortable as the man on the phone seemed to know a lot about me. I rang SIL and he told me to access my gas account online where I could email someone for confirmation. When I got into my account, sure enough the upcoming appointment was at the top of the page. It was a relief to know it was genuine but isn't cold calling a tad naughty, why not send a letter asking me to arrange a date ?
Dreadful that you had a wasted journey gM, sadly it was our story too, letters missing, appointments that had been cancelled without telling us. It used to cause so much distress to get to the hospital just to be turned away.
For those on holiday, enjoy.

Newquay Sat 07-May-22 08:57:40

Oh Grannygravy I’ve all
But stopped ironing these days. Just do a few tops-liberating! ?

NannyJan53 Sat 07-May-22 08:55:19

Good morning from a brighter Black Country.

No plans as still isolating, will do a test shortly.

So frustrating for you grandMattie I cannot believe how your DH is being treated , it’s the last thing he needs.

I love Benalmádena Peublo Urmston ,we usually stay there after a few days in Malaga. Such a lovely community feel there

So sorry to hear about your friend NanKate flowers

I hope you are ok kitty you sound ‘flat’ flowers

Stilllearning Sat 07-May-22 08:54:59

A sunbeam of hope Ash after sadness.
Totally frustrating grandMattie and disruptive.
