How often and at what time of day?

My 50 year old daughter decided to help the planet by only showering every other day. She does not smell fresh on the days that she does not shower.

I have a quick shower every morning.

I had two showers today, one in the morning before work, then after work I tidied up some stuff in the garden and needed another shower afterwards.

Glad you’re not affected GagaJo, but don’t be dismissive of others who might not have your phlegmatic character.
My Mum gets really concerned if she can’t have a shower, especially in hot weather.
It doesn’t affect my mental health, but
after a day with sweaty children, a strip wash doesn’t get rid of the ‘school smell’ (and ours is a clean, well kept school). A quick shower solves the problem.

For those who have a strip-wash rather than a quick shower, why? Unless of course you're unable to get in the shower.

When I've been unable to access the shower/bath I found it such a faff to wash at the basin - by the time you've done face, pits & bits it's just as quick to have a shower.

Yes and it’s also to do with mental and physical well-being. If a short shower makes you feel better than messing about with a strip wash then go for the shower. Mental health and well-being is really important especially in this day and age.

A shower is lovely. But if my state of mind depended on it, I'd be concerned.

I don't know how you'd make a mess of having a wash. I manage not to, and more to the point, my DD manages as well and she can untidy a room just by looking at it.

A strip wash makes a mess of the bathroom, uses soap, water and a towel. It's ecologically better to save the heels from a loaf of bread until they're completely stale and then use it as a loofah to scour off the muck. You still have the nub of bread (and any crumbs) to make nutritious meals for a week.

Chewbacca I’m sure there’s been complaints about toilet tolls leaving crumbs, but stale bread would surely leave more!

With water and energy use to mind - a better question would be 'How long do you take to shower?

My family take anything from a few minutes - to half an hour (more water than a bath, I'm sure) - with the eldest taking a shower, to clean, immediately followed by a bath - to soak and relax!

Under 2 minutes for me. But like you I have family members who take up to half an hour, and leave the bathroom walls and window dripping wet. I really don't get it, but they don't live here now, so I can't keep up the nagging! I have a friend who does the bath and shower routine the other way round - a daily bath to relax, followed by a shower to make sure they're clean.

About 15 years ago, I decided to forsake all baths, showers, hair washing, teeth brushing, strip washes, bed linen changing and underwear changing and instead let nature take its course. It took about 7 years for my natural bodily enzymes to kick in and, I'll admit that I hummed a bit in the interim, but now I don't smell at all.

Everyday, obvs hair too under shower. Currently taking me approx 1 1/2 hours a day after foot surgery to waterproof foot, shower , dress and dry hair, but worth it to feel fresh after. Besides it fills some of the recuperation time! ?

I don't know if it will help but when we didn't have a bathroom for a while, I put a paddling pool next to the kitchen sink and poured jugs of water over my head.

A shower is a part of the waking up process for me. Sometimes in the hot weather here you need more than one in a day. Remember the old Aussie joke about how to get an Englishman out of the bath . Put water in it.

We both shower every morning and again after golf, netball, cricket, walks whatever but we don't spend hours in there. I have given up bathing as our bath is huge takes too much water and I can't stay in there very long at all as my back and neck are too painful.

Shower every morning shampoo every other day.
