Some would say this thread should be in "Gardening" but everyone loves pansies.
I had always assumed that pansies were strictly outdoor flowers and that, like bluebells, if you brought them indoors and put into water they would die in two seconds!
I accidentally broke off a pansy stem with three lovely flowers on it while deadheading. This has happened previously and I've always said "Sorry!" and binned the broken stem.
As, at the moment, I have a lovely Victorian specimen glass with two roses flourishing indoors, this time I decided to add in the broken-off pansies.
Two days later, they are still smiling at me (I assure you, pansies really DO smile!), and the two roses, which were not in their first bloom, are very happy as well!
I think I'll try other posy-type flower arrangements in the future.
