I love reading the daily bulletins; do you know, the posts remind me of the novels of DE Stevenson, of which I'm very fond, also the adult novels (non-William) of Richmal Crompton. My great-grandmother came from Gloucester, where her family went way back as innkeepers. I feel in touch with them when I read here.

Gouda morning from a very wet Amble where we are having a two night break away !
Good luck to everybody who is struggling with health issues , caring for others , financial crises and general hard times! The sun is due tomorrow so chins up and on we go!
I think we may visit Barter Books in Alnwick for a bit of retail culture therapy ??

? BlueSaffire .It's pouring down here so having to dry washing inside?.
How lovely a baby to cuddle Baubles.?.GM you shouldn't have had to do that how ridiculous that he couldn't have catheter fitted in hospice or nearby hospital! Have a good day all .

A very quick good morning to all from all Fifty Shades at once on the Angus coast - with steady rain thrown in for good measure. Oh the joys! Bad night's sleep, so then slept until 10.00 and I'm off out to lunch with a couple of tai chi buddies soon. So glad I watched the Jubilee concert last night - it was lovely to see Her Maj looking so relaxed and obviously enjoying it - particularly the horses. As did I. Haven't had time to read any posts except grandMattie's. You are having so much to contend with and my heart goes out to you - flowers and much respect.
Must rush - to see if movement will get my brain to engage gear. Have the best day you can everyone and I'll pop back in later to read all about it x

Good morning, Mick and all from coastal West Sussex where yesterday’s rain was warmly welcomed.

Too cloudy for the lunar eclipse even if I could have managed to get up in time. I suddenly have the line “there’s a strawberry moon in a blueberry sky” running round my head. I used to play it on the old gramophone I inherited when my parents upgraded to a new record player that played LPs & 45s.

It’s lovely to hear about your Ukrainian family, Mumofmadboys. I’m sure it helps the father to have a job to go to. I heard yesterday, about a West Sussex community who are hosting a group of Ukrainian refugees. They are also keen to contribute. One is a trained and experienced massage therapist who is looking for clients to “rub” ? - laughter intended sympathetically, having minimal foreign language skills myself.

I wrote a long to-do list last night and so far have read and listened to radio 4, neither of which occupations are on the list so better get moving.

Thinking of Grandmattie & MrGm especially.

Good morning Mick and all from Cloudy Chambers northwest coast.
Going to have a little sing today, need to get it going after the virus. Also prepare for a busy day tomorrow as I hopefully get back to normal.
Thinking of grandMattie and anyone else with worries.
Will read through later.

Congratulations baubles what a lovely weight.
Good morning from an overcast W Kent. Cleaning day today, DH has to take car for service later so will make the most of an empty house and get the floors done.
gMattie I was amazed you were asked to transport your DH yesterday, I feel very naive about the world sometimes. I presume the staff being younger think nothing of popping over to Canterbury.
Take care everyone.

Good morning Mick and all. It’s raining heavily in my corner of Lancashire, currently 13°C. It was raining overnight and is forecast to continue all day. There are flood warnings in force locally, but despite living by the river we aren’t affected here.

Yesterday was another glorious sunny day and we enjoyed watching the dragon boat racing. The overall winner was Edge Hill University. Today I have some laundry to do but it won’t be line dried. I will do my usual physio and use my exercise bike instead of a walk. I have some sewing to do later.

Congratulations on the new arrival baubles.

Sending love to Grandmattie, what an awful day you’ve had.

Thinking of all struggling with life at the moment. Have the best day you can all.

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Good morning from a very damp and dull South Yorkshire. We've had heavy rain overnight and the garden looks very green ?
Walkies this morning. I do hope the rain holds off because himself doesn't like rain, despite having waterproof trousers and coat... Think he must be allergic ?
Hope you have a better day Grandmattie ??
Congratulations baubles and I love your fairy gardens Ginny ?
Have a good day all xx

Good morning all from a very wet Polmont. There will be no going out for me. Ashcombe enjoy your cruise. I fully understand why At Petersburg is off the list but it is a very interesting place. Like Ekwa I have visited the Hermitage and the works of art are varied and gorgeous. I've been to Moscow too, in January, which is one of the highlights of my life. Baubles a hearty congratulations on the birth of your new grandchild. A good weight indeed. Grandmattie like many other, I'm appalled you have to drive your dear husband so far for such treatment. MOMB it's lovely to hear about your wee family starting to settle in.
Yesterday started early for Sunday with my overnight guest getting up at seven and demanding to play with trains and me. We had a lovely morning together. He blethers constantly and sings. I had a nap in the afternoon after he had been picked up.
Today I'm going nowhere and seeing no-one. A very indulgent quiet day with a bit of drawing. I hope you all have a good day.

U3A AGM this morning which will involve chat and a quiz as well as getting through the business. Numbers are slowly rebuilding but we have lost quite a few long time members during the lock downs. Flower club this evening so a busy day by current standards.

Shocked by granMattie’s post and unimpressed by the way they were treated. What happens if there isn’t a family member to act as a taxi? Does the patient just have to wait till Monday? Or is this simply a reflection of the problems faced by the ambulance service?

Am full of admiration for Marydoll’s death clean and yearn for the energy to do same thing here. Something about spring, no doubt.

Good morning everyone from a grey and damp Northampton; the grass needs cutting but it is too wet to do it. And thank you for the reminder about peonies; must stake mine up, it has lots of buds.

Thought I was having a day in on my own yesterday, but had a text from a friend asking if I wanted to visit the gardens at a nearby country house. It was raining, but plenty to see and enjoy, including the falconry, and a mini zoo. And also a delicious lemon cake at the end of our visit!

No plans to go anywhere today, so shall clean the bathrooms and catch up on my book club read. and also spray around the patio doors outside, as an army of ants were swarming inside this morning. Cold chicken left over from yesterday will be my dinner this evening, may make a soup with it.

So sorry to read of your tribulations yesterday grandMattie; hope a better day is in store today.

Would have been late DH's birthday today.

Wishing all a good Monday.

Urmstongran Mon 16-May-22 08:49:33

Yes lovely news baubles! Congratulations. I bet you’re on Cloud 9 this morning!

EkwaNimitee Mon 16-May-22 08:32:16

Good morning Mick and everyone from a rather dark Carlisle where it has rained overnight. I woke briefly around 4am and wondered if it was worth getting up to look at the blood moon. I didn't, certain that it would be too cloudy, as it still is.
This morning is the usual Monday morning round of laundry and housework followed by a trip to the hospital after lunch for my monthly bloodletting. My iron overload is coming down steadily so I'm hoping monthly will become occasional by the end of the year.
For those of you who missed my explanation as requested of a whim wham late yesterday afternoon, it is a trifling object of some kind, in my case a storage caddy for the bathroom. I suspect this is a word I overuse, I seem to buy a lot of whim whams!
I shall be interested to hear of your cruise experience Ashcombe as I'd thought of doing that one myself but haven't been with that company. What a shame to miss wonderful St Petersburg (Leningrad when I went) and the Hermitage museum but it just couldn't be could it.
I hope all is better today grandMattie both for you and your DH.
And do have a good day everyone.

Gwenisgreat1 Mon 16-May-22 08:30:20

Good morning all from wet Harrogate
I am appalled you should be asked to drive your DH 18miles GrandMattie. What a dreadful day you had
I’m full of admiration for you ladies taking in families from the UA
Congratulations Baubles on the birth of your GS
Today is my telephone day the physio adding a call for good measure!
Have the best day possible folks

Urmstongran Mon 16-May-22 08:26:28

* or even ‘Big Little Lies* ha! I can never recall which way round it is.

harrigran Mon 16-May-22 08:26:16

Good morning from a rainy NE.
Great disappointment yesterday the restaurant type meals, that my sister ordered for my birthday, were not delivered and we had to find something else to cook.
SIL is here to help me as I am having my gas meter changed and both gas and electricity will be off, appliances will need to be reset.
Poor treatment of your DH gM, having to take him to hospital yourself, where were the nurses in the hospice ? I had to do all the physical nursing for my DH, visiting nurses were not hands on and only made suggestions.. I am disgusted at the standard of care for terminally ill patients.

Pittcity Mon 16-May-22 08:25:50

Good morning from sunny, for the moment, Colchester. Another warm, damp day forecast.

I have an empty today and will be busy with housework and shopping. There are several late May/ early June birthdays to think about.

Congratulations Baubles and love and hugs to all?x

Urmstongran Mon 16-May-22 08:24:09

No Matt it’s Monday.

Good morning everyone from a damp but mild south Manchester. I have an appointment with the dental hygienist late morning. I hate going (and paying) but years ago I gave my head a wobble and reasoned I pay to have my highlights done or my nails and put this appointment in the same bracket of self maintenance.

We have no other plans. Apartment life is low maintenance living leaving plenty of ‘me’ time. Suits me perfectly to be honest. Plenty of time to do as I want not what I ought! I enjoy novels set in Australia (think Little Big Lies) so yesterday I bought this one on my Kindle. I intend to make a good inroad into it today.

Enjoy Monday all who can. x

ShazzaKanazza Mon 16-May-22 08:23:58

Brook I just said the same thing to my DH that they would make a lovely gift for GD. They are fabulous ginny.

Marydoll Mon 16-May-22 08:23:13

nana585, I misread your post and thought you had a pool in your garden!

My DIL is a wild swimmer and often swims outdoor pools, even when it is freezing outside! She is addicted to it.❄☔☃

ShazzaKanazza Mon 16-May-22 08:18:57

Baubles many congratulations on the safe arrival of your new GS such beautiful news on a dreary morning. ?
