Going to the pub wearing a twinset and pearls then ordering a port and lemon

I was given a twin set when I was about 19 - it was lovely!!

Pleated skirts which have ridden up slightly at the back, pastel fleece jackets or raincoats, tight perms, tight sour expressions as they tut tut at the youth of today.

I don't actually care what anyone wears to be honest so sorry for the "old lady" colours- but the original post was looking for things that age us!

I try to avoid hair nets and Norah Batty tights .

*MissAdventure *Those fleeces with pictures of wolves/cats/dogs . My neighbour and her husband wear matching ones.

Callistemon Hmmm ... yes, I guess twinsets can look lovely on youngsters ... thinking of Country Life. I never managed to carry them off. Stuffing wads of paper hankies up the sleeves probably didn't help.

I was chatting to a fellow - lady - dog walker in the park recently, reminiscing about the outfit my mum made for me for Coronation Day and she said "Wow you don't look old enough to have been alive then!" That made me very happy and I was wearing my baggy, pull on trousers, tatty t shirt and hoodie. No makeup (I never wear makeup) and half grown out grey /dyed brown hair. So wear what you like ladies, be cheerful and pleasant and my most important advice be comfortable!

BTW I am 74 in a few weeks time

I’d have said pastel fleeces till I saw Weird Fish were selling them. I dusted off one that had been hidden away for a decade (or two) and it was admired by my very stylish DD. Result!

I think my problem is that at 74 clothes can just look different on me. For instance my DD and DIL came to see me yesterday, they both had this years dresses, long, floaty, short sleeves etc. They looked lovely but I just can't see me in them however fashionable, for a start they have waists.

This is true, luluaugust. My DDs look adorable in massive prairie dresses. I’d look as if I’d escaped from somewhere and should be gently escorted back.

It'll never be out for me, even though I'm wearing "pile of porridge" grey today.

I love pink as well. Some shades of pink are really flattering on older skin tones.

I like a cerise pink.

'sensible' shoes, in black leather (or effect), black looser fit trousers with tunic tops. haircuts without any style.

My aim is to age well, I am not bothered whether that means I look older or younger than I am.
