There's three threads saying how the Jubilee is a dubious thing to celebrate and one or two threads saying how good it is.

So if all you want to do is have a nice celebration, it makes me wonder why so many people feel the need to come on one or more of the "three" and tell us what awful people we are. I can guess though.

I'm sure many of us donate to various causes but don't say. As do many of those who are contributing to the celebrations

I am wondering about whether all the non party people are putting the money they would have spent on bunting, party food etc into the very good causes mentioned.

I'm with you nana8 and quite frankly I don't see what there is to celebrate? You'll gather I'm not a fan of the royal family or what they stand for but that aside it's about an old woman who has refused to retire and let her son get on with the job he was trained for, and is now almost too old to do. I can't understand how people think that's good! I think it's selfish.

All of the money spent and, in my opinion, wasted on these 'celebrations' could have gone towards helping those having to use food banks to survive, who are asking for food that can be eaten cold and needs no heating or cooking as they can't afford the electricity to do so!

People can have a party anytime.... lots of ideas... summer solstice, strawberry festival, autumn leaf gathering etc.

I am a bit puzzled too because I thought you were going to somewhere very remote, volver and were going to watch the sea and look for dolphins.
