Just watching the concert at Buckingham Palace and who should pop up but Her Majesty doing a beautiful clip with Paddington Bear. Even better than her appearance with James Bond

Best of night was definitely Her Majesty with Paddington bear.?

I thought the Queen and Paddington was magic! Excellent performance by both. I didn't see the whole concert, will catch up once back hone (no catch up TV at our caravan). Agree it's not possible to please all of the people all of the time, but fair play to whoever put together a programme with something in for a mixed age, mixed taste audience.
I'm probably being controversial here, but when watching the pageant yesterday, I had to wonder at the expression often on Prince George's face - a sort of bewildered sneer sonetimes? However I do get that the younger royal children were in a very long and tiring set of events and hats off to their parents for keeping them engaged as best as possible for such long events.

If Neil Diamond too ill to perform Sweet Caroline then it really should have been left out. (Don't understand how it was voted the 'jubilee song?)?Yes i agree Rod would have been better doing one of his own well- known numbers.Although he did Baby Jane and let his back up singers perform most of it sadly....?

HM the Queen with Paddington totally outdid her encounter with Bond!! Loved it !!

Love that picture cossybabe I saw it on Twitter earlier and it bought a tear to my eye. So poignant.

And the wrist bands in the audience are controlled by someone lighting them up in different colours.

I noticed everyone in the royal box were also wearing the wristbands.

I cant see Prince Charles actually wanting to 'takeover' from Her Majesty- she is a hard act to follow!-I am seeing him handing it straight over to Prince William- as he is more in touch with the younger members of the public and the way the whole environmental vibe is heading for the future.More in touch with the modern world as a younger monarch.?

Loved the Queen and Paddington and the drones at the end above the Palace. Certainly some of the younger acts were much better than the older generation, so sad to see Diana Ross wheeled out, poor woman didn't look well or know where she was.

Thanks Sparklefizz.

I knew it was a football song, didn’t know it was Jubilee song.

Yes, Rod was struggling voice wise, and starting to look a bit ‘mutton dressed as…..’

Must be hard acknowledging your voice is not what it used to be.

I agree. Ditto Paul McCartney and Elton John. All sound like they’re being strangled when trying for the high notes. Just accept you’re past it chaps.
Mick Jagger on the other hand still has what it takes.

Germanshepherdsmum Mon 06-Jun-22 12:12:15

Apparently Sweet Caroline was chosen as the song of the Jubilee.

Grantanow Mon 06-Jun-22 12:11:15

You've just got to laugh!

Have I missed something? Why did Rod sing ‘Sweet Caroline’?

Surely ‘Maggie May’ would have been better?

Not Maggie, we all know what that’s about. I thought Firever Young would have been a better choice.

I think maybe someone wrote Charles' speech for him- but felt that William did his own.I may be wrong. But Williams just seemed more natural, like he was speaking from the Heart.

I loved the Paddington Bear scene with the Queen. At first I thought it was one of these "look a like" actresses and then realised it really was her . . . It was the highlight of the evening for me!

Just to say the message by Geri Horner (Spice Girl) was cringe making and overdone in the extreme. I felt quite sick.

As my late mother would have said, She'd turn up for the opening of an envelope.

I love this

Ed Sheering? grin

I was commenting on/critiquing the production on here purely because I had a former West End theatre lighting director explaining how it all worked. I remember some posters were particularly interested in this aspect on the Strictly thread too.
It's good to share knowledge.

Was Ed Sheering in charge of the buses?

No this chap was!

pamdixon Mon 06-Jun-22 12:06:55

The Paddington Bear sketch was wonderful - full marks to whoever thought it up. What a star our amazing Queen is, and she absolutely nails it sometimes..............bet she enjoyed herself performing with Paddington!!

SuzyG Mon 06-Jun-22 12:03:42

I don't know anyone else who has worked so hard until they were 96 but I'm sure there are some others. I wonder if the job were advertised, how many takers there would be?

I've enjoyed all of the effort and all the events (on TV) but I felt terribly sad and slightly uncomfortable watching the Paddington sketch.

Lol just what i thought smile

Nannan2 Mon 06-Jun-22 12:00:12

I thought- when everyone sings the National Anthem, is the Queen ever tempted to join in?- also, when the kiddies sing it do they end it with "God save our Gran" i wonder???

Germanshepherdsmum Mon 06-Jun-22 11:56:37

I didn’t see Bocelli struggling. And Nessun Dorma is very popular.

bevisp1 Mon 06-Jun-22 11:56:13

It was so cute and I thought the queen did very well. Apparently none of the royal family knew it was going to take place so to see the faces of Charlotte and George when they saw it, was wonderful

Nannan2 Mon 06-Jun-22 11:52:51

Yes CrazyH- and so does Princes William and George, judging by the way they both perked up and had big smiles on their faces! Me too?
