When baby was about 6 months my neighbour invited me to a church do. Hubbys cousin had just called so the 2 men could easily babysit.
Halfway through the meeting I began to feel very faint and ill and one of the men offered me a lift home.I told hubby what had happened and he said to his cousin,'great, we have time for a couple of pints if we go now!'They left.

I bought what I thought was lovely maxi dress ,tried it on to get OH's opinion,I should say he is usually complimentary, but not this time .
He looked me up and down and said" you look like Demis Roussos "
I didn't keep it and didn't wear the other maxi Ihad bought either .

Slipped disc in my back went into full-blown spasm mode with screaming sciatica down my leg. DH was at local football derby match. I messaged him to say that I was stuck on the kitchen floor and had called paramedics. His reply "Let me know how you get on"!! Now when he complains about an aching back I just ignore him...grin

Not perhaps deliberate but to show empathy ? he saved up illnesses for while I was pregnant and managed to: Have flu the first time, get mumps another time and was really poorly. The DC had headlice the week before DS3 was born. Oh the joys!
He died 18 months ago, was a brilliant dad and we all miss him.

I was in the middle of giving birth to my first baby and my EX (wonder why?) came at visiting time and told me that there was nothing to it. In other countries women went behind a bush, gave birth and then went back to work in the field!

He didn't stay until the end of visiting time because he wanted to watch tv. I think it was The Forsyth Saga.

Lying having first baby - OH heard to mutter: "I knew you would have it on Monty Python night." Hmmmm....

Oopsadaisy1 Thu 09-Jun-22 07:05:45

Deeda MrOops did Exactly the same thing at the same time of night!

Except he said ‘best try to get some sleep then’. 2 hours later MzOops was born. So I didn’t let him go back to sleep either.

When I went into the living room on the way to the hospital, there were 2 strangers asleep on the floor, apparently our new next door neighbours had locked themselves out and he had offered them the floor for the night! I never thought to ask him where they went as they certainly didn’t move in next door…..

50 years later, I’ll get my own back one day.

I was with DH for 50 years and there are a few things I'll never forget. How about the night I went into labour with our first baby? It was about 3am and I'd had an uncomfortable half an hour so I woke him up to tell him I thought things were really happening. "Well wake me up when you're sure" he said and turned over and went back to sleep! It took about an hour to get him awake and doing anything useful!

It reminds me of the time I fell down the stairs in a house we’d just moved to. Dh came rushing out of the kitchen, peered at me sprawled in an ungainly heap in the hall and said ‘Oh, it’s just you, I thought it was dd1,’ and went back and finished his breakfast! confused

We’re still together, 30+ years on. I can bide my time.grin

?

Reminds me of our first impromptu meal out together when I met my DH to be and he didn't have any money with him (very convenient!)

He said if I paid he would pay me back. He says he did pay a few days later, I say he never has paid me back!

It's our Golden Wedding this year!

Further to my posts about my lovely hubby…hope you are not getting too bored with these tales…..but…
I just wanted to tell you about the time I was in A&E with a suspected broken foot, I was hobbling to XRay when a person in a wheel chair was coming the other way, my dearest darling, immediately got out of their way and actually, yes, actually, stood on my broken foot. I have made a promise to him that I will have my revenge at some stage, this episode was 40 years ago (we have been married 48) and it seems I am really good at holding a grudge lol.
