Good morning from sunny Colchester. Another warm, humid day forecast. Nothing on the agenda, so I'll tackle the ironing.
DH is packing for a fishing trip and DS isn't home this weekend so I'm looking forward to an empty.
Love to all ? x

Kalu I’m sorry to hear your DH has a cancer diagnosis too ?
I also wanted to say hello ? if you were new on here.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Sun is out in South Yorkshire but why is it always so windy recently? Ash congratulations to your DGD - quite a feather in her cap! Yesterday’s car washing was achieved (I even managed the top with a long handled brush!). Then one of my neighbours told me about a good local car wash, so I think it will be going there next time! The rest of the day was spent pottering about. Today I’m going to DDs for a walk and an overnight stay.
Hope the chemo goes well, GM. Glad you’ll be keeping him company.
Have the best day you can folks.

Good to see you posting, Kalu, but sad to read your news. I hope you are making good progress and we will hopefully see you on Tuesday.x

Good Morning Mick and everyone from a beautiful day in Hull.
Mick I’ve never used an air fryer before but I know they are a healthier way of cooking.
grandMattie I echo others in that I can’t believe you have to say carer to be able to be with your DH during his consultations.
Ash what a talented DGD you have you’ll cry with pride when you go and see her on the stage.

Yesterday I was running around trying to find a dress for a wedding a week tomorrow. Managed to find two nice summer ones so I have a choice.
Mother and Father of the bride both have covid and my best friend and her husband have it too so hoping everyone is negative by next Saturday. None of them have had it yet and they all have underlying health issues but are all ok so far. It’s very bad for covid in the East Riding at the moment.

We have our GS after school today.
Enjoy your day everyone and virtual hugs for those with worries and illness. ??

Good morning all from a partly sunny Glasgow, it's 11 degrees here.

Mick have you thought about spraying your food, with oil. It's much healthier and the point of an air fryer is to cook in a healthy way and not use oil if possible. The food tastes just as good.
I started off with a small cheap air fryer, progressed to a larger one, because I loved it so much. Now I have a fourteen function Ninja, it's never off and saves so much energy,, time and washing up. Tt has paid for itself.

Yesterday was spent in the pleasant company of ex colleagues at the school anniversary service. My friends and I were sitting inconspicuously in a corner, trying not to be noticed, when we were dragged reluctantly to the front row of the church to sit with the other invited guests.
I spent the whole service, looking at my feet, the ceiling and anywhere else, which helped me avoid eye contact with the Bishop and two priests.
I NEVER sit in the front row, prefering not to be noticed!
We did come to one conclusion, we are so glad that we are retired from teaching. grin
I have attached a poem about hope, which was read, I found it resonated with me, as it may with some of you.
Sorry about the small print, my scanner wouldn't play ball!

I am off to the shops after a visit from DD at 6.30am, before she went off to work. She then accused me of keeping her late! Grrrrr!
She is attending a grazing dinner party tomorrow, where she has to provide the desserts. I have been roped in to help, despite being told previously I am not allowed to interfere. I think panic has set in, as she realises she is being over ambitious! ?

Sending my best wishes to all who have treatment today, are struggling with illness or worries about family. I hope you have as gentle a day as possible.) I am including myself in that wish!) wink

Good morning from Leamington where the sun is shining.
Well done to your DGD Ash, a great achievement.
DD1, DGD2 and I went to the theatre in Coventry last night to watch DGD1 in a performance all about climate change. It was written and performed by those hoping to do GCSE drama. It was a very powerful play that showed how seriously teenagers take the threats ahead.
Today I think we are going to a local garden centre for some plants for the tubs in the garden.
Have a fabulous Friday everyone xx

Good morning from a sunny start in Glasgow.

It’s such a pity the status of wife isn’t sufficient to open doors for you GM My DH has only recently been diagnosed with cancer and we are at the early stages of processing all information we have received so far. Fortunately I only have to state I am DH’s wife when making calls and the assistance and understanding I receive is going a long way to assure us of their dedicated support.

You are both always in my thoughts ?

Urmstongran Fri 10-Jun-22 07:30:27

I don’t think the ballet world are missing a ⭐️ in L’il Miss Ash ... she keeps getting her right and left feet mixed up!
?

Had to share this one with you all:

Coming home from their swimming lessons we played I-Spy in the car. L’il Miss is very enthusiastic now she is learning her letters ...

L’il Miss: “My turn. I-Spy with my little eye something beginning with ‘W’”
(pronounced ‘wuh’)
Me: ‘Window?’ ... ‘Watch?’ ... ‘I give up’
L’il Miss: ‘ONESIE grandma!’

Of course. ?
They were each wearing one after their lesson.

Good morning from sunny East Yorkshire.

I’m pleased to say I’m continuing to feel better and my bp is still in the normal range. I’m so relieved as it’s been such a worry.

Well done to your GD Ash Proud indeed.

I’m a proud gran too today. At the industry awards DH went to London for yesterday they made 2nd place. He didn’t think they’d win but he is delighted with this recognition. He started the business from scratch 10 years ago it’s been tough at times but hard work has paid off. Well deserved too even if I say so!

DIL invited me to tea knowing I was home alone. She made the most delicious risotto and it was lovely spending time with her and the GC.

I have to collect prescriptions today and DH will be home mid afternoon. We are having GS after school. It’s a shorter stay as he goes to cricket lessons on Friday evening.

I hope all goes to plan today GM

I hope all looking after GC doesn’t prove too exhausting!

Take care everyone.

Beautiful start to the day here in Oxfordshire. Happy Friday to you all!
Ashcombe how proud you must be, she must be a very talented little girl. There will be many proud moments to cherish. Many years ago my DD2 did ballet and tap, led by a tyrant of a woman, water off a duck's back for DD2, she loved it.
Good luck with chemo day grandMattie I hope all goes smoothly, DD1 has her 7th treatment on Monday.
May you all receive some sunshine in your day today.

Ashcombe Fri 10-Jun-22 07:20:24

Fabulous news Ashcombe what a talented girl. Our L’il Miss said on holiday she doesn’t want to go to ballet anymore. Mum told her that’s fine - school & swimming for a 5y old is good enough until she’s keen to try something else

Thank you, Urmstongran and everyone else. A few years ago DGD said that she’d had enough of ballet, claiming she preferred the other dance classes. We are very glad her teacher persuaded her to keep going!

Urmstongran Fri 10-Jun-22 07:12:31

Matt away think it will be Tuesday now when he’s back?

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s dry with a slight breeze. Cooler than yesterday I think but the forecast says sunny intervals and a high of 21°C.

We are minding the Boy Wonder and L’il Miss at noon whilst mummy has a manicure then from there we will drive over to take my stepfather for his food shop in the M&S near to him.

Fabulous news Ashcombe what a talented girl. Our L’il Miss said on holiday she doesn’t want to go to ballet anymore. Mum told her that’s fine - school & swimming for a 5y old is good enough until she’s keen to try something else.

Enjoy Friday all who can. I hope Mr.GG13 is feeling more himself today after his recent TIA.

Good morning everyone from Cambridge where it’s a gorgeous sunny start to the day
Hope all goes well for your DH today gMattie
I’m awake quite early as DGS2 is already up and been in for a cuddle. No room service here for my early morning tea so I’ve just been down to the kitchen to get a cuppa, DD1 has one of those Quooker taps that I’ve just about got the hang of now - thank goodness
Not sure what my plans are today yet, I enjoyed a lazy day yesterday until the boys were home from school so might just be more of the same today
Sounds like you’ll be busy Susan have a lovely time with your DGC and hope H is feeling a bit better
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings ?

Susan56 Fri 10-Jun-22 07:04:43

Congratulations to your DGD Ash, lovely news and what a talented girl she must be.

So pleased you can be with your husband grandMattie.

Thinking of baubles and all with illness or struggles.

Have the best day you can everyone??

Jaxjacky Fri 10-Jun-22 07:03:48

Morning from sun/cloud in S Hants.
Pleased things are improving Ashcombe you’ve had a tough run.
Thoughts with you both today grandMattie ?
Hair trim and tidying up today. ??

Beechnut Fri 10-Jun-22 06:54:41

Good Morning from a brightening up Severnside.

Lovely news for your granddaughter Ash.

It’s a shame that you have to use the word ‘carer’ Mattie to open doors. Why on earth can’t wife get the same reactions.

I’ve a load of washing in and yesterday’s to go back out on the line as it got rained on. Off to do the weekly shop and buy a few diy items and that should give me something to occupy myself with for the next few days.

Have a good day all ?

TopsyIrene06 Fri 10-Jun-22 06:53:50

Wow indeed Ashcombe English Youth Ballet. Well done your GD. clearly a talented girl. You must be rightly proud. Wonderful.

Quite nice here today. Long may it continue but it's still not warm enough.

Ashcombe Fri 10-Jun-22 06:07:47

Good morning, all, from a sunny Torbay!

You lovely people were so kind in response to my dismal post yesterday and I am truly grateful. It really does help to have your support. ?

My day went well, not least because we heard the joyous news that my DGD, aged nine, has passed an audition to dance in Swan Lake in Stoke in September with the English Youth Ballet! Beyond proud! ?

I retrieved DH’s phone from some bemused staff at Paignton Palace theatre box office who were perplexed by its alarm going off! Once I’ve extracted the sim, I’ll post that off to DH in France who can insert it intoan old phone. If I sent the whole phone, it would incur import duty now we're not in the EU.

The singing workshop was enjoyable and probably stood me in good stead for the lung function test which followed. I can’t fault Torbay Hospital’s Cardiology Dept., for the standard of care I’m receiving.

Mick, I’m glad you’re experimenting with your air fryer. I find I can cook most things without oil so that might be worth trying.

I hope all will go well for your DH today, grandMattie. Thinking of you both. ?

I hope everyone has a good day, especially those with worries of any kind. ?????

grandMattie Fri 10-Jun-22 06:02:19

Good morning from a brightish E Kent.
My word, Mick, that air fryer sounds terrific! I’ve never used one before.
Big day today - bloods were fine, even haemoglobin slightly higher than earlier. So off for the second chemotherapy session later.
I have discovered the magic words “I’m his carer” which opens any number of doors, and allows me to stay with DH and explain the procedure in words of one syllable. They rattle through so fast what’s going to happen and what they give him, that even I have a job to remember. Poor DH with his dodgy drugged memory hasn’t a chance!
I hope all the poorly and those with problems have a gentle day. Carpe diem! ????

Michael12 Fri 10-Jun-22 05:53:09

Good Morning Everyone,
A bright and sunny start to the day here in brackley at the present time .
Today , I await a new mobile phone in the post .
Will do a local shop early , and I have started to use the air fryer as to doing Fish & Chips , I have taken the middle bit out which turns things, I put the Fish in the chips ,and give the battered fish a coating of oil , switch air fryer on , let in run for about 7 minutes , switch off ,and turn fish over with a oil coating and let it run for around another 7 minutes , the fish tastes better than using a deep fat fryer .
Take Care,
Mick
