flowers and thoughts for those having a trying time for whatever reason, hope today brings a little sunshine (literally and figuratively) for all of us at some point. x

I hope Senga behaves herself today Baubles.
I don’t think it’s a bad thing for your DD to see how difficult things are for you Marydoll, though I understand your wish not to be fussed over.

grandMattie Sat 11-Jun-22 11:34:06

kalu, I can’t tell you how my heart goes out to you. Many hugs, much love❤️❤️❤️

Good Morning everyone, it’s 28°C now and headed for another very hot day. Yesterday we gave in (economising) and turned the air con on in the afternoon and it was absolute heaven.

Today we’re going out for an early lunch at 12.15 before the bar /restaurant gets packed, so at least that will mean no cooking later.

Now I’m going to catch up with you all while I drink my iced coffee.

Good morning all from a grey and windy Angus coast.
DGD1 is making her professional debut today, dancing for Scottish Contemporary Dance Theatre on the Moray coast. The show is choreographed for an outdoor performance but it is extremely windy and she thinks they will have to move it indoors. Apparently it is an absolutely beautiful hall but the floor is very slippery, which will cause some trepidation. DD is up there with her, and next week my niece, great-niece and great-great-niece and I will be in the audience while they perform in Dundee. All possible fingers and toes are already crossed for the weather there!
I was wide awak until after 4 am last night (this morning?) so it's a late and sluggish start for me. However a pile of ironing, the result of a good drying day yesterday, awaits. I was so lucky, as the heavens opened just as I unpegged the last thing. I don't know when I last saw a downpour like that!
I wish the best day possible to all, home or abroad, in sickness or caring x

A later good morning from windy, and now wet, S Lanarkshire. Oh joy in June.
This was our town’s historic Lanimer week, the first of course for three years, and the weather has been mixed to say the least. The procession and floats were amazing as usual and as we say resignedly, ‘ At least the sun came out for the crowning!’

Ash, I didn’t have time to post before but send congratulations on your DGD’s achievement. I keep wondering too about your friend who received notice to leave her home. What a dreadful position to be in, I hope you will soon be able to give us good news about her too.

Kalu, I am so very sorry to hear your news. I’m glad your Australian family are with you just now.
Thoughts and prayers for everyone on here facing big challenges. ???

Good morning Mick and all. It’s bright and cloudy in my corner of Lancashire, currently 16°C.

Yesterday was a beautiful sunny day. Mr. B and I had a wonderful outing, we drove across the moors to The Textile Museum. I’ve wanted to visit for a long time. It’s in a beautiful setting and the museum is fascinating. Most of the original machinery is still there, much of it still in working order. The friendly staff are very knowledgeable and the tours included working demonstrations. It’s an absolute gem and tells the story of a very important part of our industrial heritage. Lancashire has so much industrial archeology and I’m looking forward to exploring more of it. I was studying for an archaeology degree in my spare time when I suffered my brain injury and I had to give it up. Industrial archeology is my area of interest.

It was a very hot day so we treated ourselves to salted caramel ice cream afterwards. I was exhausted after the walking and many steps, but also pleased that I managed it. I will take it easy today. I’m sat up in bed drinking tea right now!

A warm welcome to any new posters I may have missed.

flowers to Kalu and GrandMattie

I hope everyone find some comfort and happiness today whatever you’re doing.

Grammaretto Sat 11-Jun-22 10:23:52

Good Morning from the Scottish Borders where it would be nice if it wasn't blowin' a hoolie!
I have set up at the Saturday community cafe and exhibition. This week it is about 14 other female heads of state besides the Queen
There is always an exhibition of local interest or local people's interests.

So sad to read your news Kalu. It sounds so familiar to me. Try not to let the medical side take over your lives. Enjoy your time together.

Sorry gMattie that you have had another bad night.

I may mow the grass later but now I have read through this thread I'm off to have coffee and cake.

Taichinan Sat 11-Jun-22 10:21:26

Oh grandMattie flowers. It's so hard for your DH and even more so for you having to witness and deal with his suffering.

EkwaNimitee Sat 11-Jun-22 10:02:08

Good morning Mick and everyone from greyish and windy Carlisle.
I've just returned from a quick visit to the supermarket and it's now nearly time for my morning coffee. Then it's finishing off my admin, a bit of pottering in the garden and then prepping for my trip south on Monday and a little family get-together.

grandMattie, Kalu, Baubles, you and yours are in my thoughts.

brook2704 Sat 11-Jun-22 09:58:07

Good morning Mick and all from sunny West Sussex.

Have to rush off to get a bus to meet a friend for coffee and a flower festival but just wanted to express my sorrow for GM, Kalu and others going through hard times.

Marydoll thank you for posting the poem about hope - I love it and will copy it into my little notebook of poems and quotations that lift me up.

Georgesgran Sat 11-Jun-22 09:55:05

Grandmadinosaur Sat 11-Jun-22 09:54:40

Ditto GM I hope an easier day and you can get some rest.

Shelflife Sat 11-Jun-22 09:50:51

Grandmattie, I read but don't post here . I follow your posts and I am thinking of you and your DH. You are having such a difficult time .

Auntieflo Sat 11-Jun-22 09:47:20

Good morning Mick, Annie and all.
GrandMattie, so sorry to hear the you have had another disturbed night with your DH. flowers for you and a gentle hug. A good sleep is what you need, so fingers crossed.
I saw my specialist oncology nurse yesterday. She is so lovely. Why can't I talk to the Dr's like that? After asking me to do some arm resistance exercises, with her, I am now aching more than ever. Ah well, it will go away in good time.
It is a beautiful morning here and I am trying to summon up the energy to 'get going'.
To all those who are having troubled times just lately, sending all best wishes.
Have a good day one and all.

Gymstagran Sat 11-Jun-22 09:46:38

Friend not fiend, should have previewed!

Gymstagran Sat 11-Jun-22 09:45:51

Good Morning everyone from the West Midlands. Its sort of sunny but there are some black clouds. I was awake early so have done washing and washed floors, changed bed. I'm going to walk to the local garden centre and hopefully get a card and present for my fiend who will be 75 soon. My thoughts are with all those struggling with illnesses and treatments. May today be a better day.

merlotgran Sat 11-Jun-22 09:43:26

Good morning everyone from a sunny south coast.

Looking at the weather forecast for the coming week I think the allotment is going to take up most of my time as most of the other group members are on holiday and somebody has to do all the watering!! I can just hear DH saying, ‘Well, if you will take on these things!’

Sending best wishes to GM and Kalu and anyone else facing the challenges that we all pray will never happen. Staying strong is so hard but your courage won’t desert you.

Hoping for a good day for everyone.
