I’m just being silly

Due to have a procedure tomorrow for a “trial” which might help a bit with some of my fine selection of tumours (but most likely to help further the research) and I’m getting a bit anxious about the general anaesthetic. I don’t like the feeling of helplessness when you are wheeled into the theatre. Tell me I’m being daft….

We're all thinking of you today. All our best wishes are with you. flowers

PS I was somewhat discombobulated to be required to walk into theatre myself clutching my pillow for a gall bladder op some years ago.
I felt this was taking economies too far!

Sending you a comforting {{hug}}
Any procedure is unnerving but GA’s go really smoothly and easily and you will be “round” before you know it.
I hope it gives you some helpful pointers to future treatment- wishing you well ? and thinking of you.

I have been wondering how you are doing Lucca, so I would just like to add my good wishes to you for tomorrow.
Nerves are only natural, aren’t they, but as others have said, you will be well looked after.
I do hope the procedure helps you.

Good luck and thank you for going through trails which will help others.

No you are not being daft (rather harsh Kim19!) I inherited my mother’s hospital phobia and have had a pre-med twice before surgery as have been climbing the walls waiting around.
No problem once I’m sedated!?
Think how happy you will be when it’s behind you. Then treat yourself.

All the best Lucca, you will be fine ... I always get apprehensive ... not many people don't ... God bless

CanadianGran Wed 15-Jun-22 19:41:10

Adding my best wishes. You will be in safe hands with a skilled team of health care workers. We will all be thinking of you!

Huge good wishes to you for tomorrow. You're not silly, you are human. I fervently hope it all goes well. ?

You are certainly not being silly, most people are apprehensive about going into theatre and having a GA. But, just think how lucky we are that there is such a thing as GA! Last year I had to have an operation on my hand and this was carried out in theatre, but with a local anaesthetic; I would have much preferred to have been knocked out! Good luck for tomorrow thanks

lemsip Wed 15-Jun-22 17:25:27

do what I do and ask the nurse to hold your hand....sounds daft but helps me.
be thinking of you.

Galaxy Wed 15-Jun-22 17:23:57

We will be virtually holding your hand if that doesnt sound too corny. ?

toscalily Wed 15-Jun-22 17:18:00

Totally understandable to be apprehensive but I am sure they will do everything to reassure you. Best wishes for tomorrow flowers

Urmstongran Wed 15-Jun-22 15:55:24

Adding my best wishes too Lucca you will be FINE. You’ll be in good safe hands being monitored all through the procedure. Thank you for taking part in research to benefit others. x

Good Luck Lucca you are not being daft.
The last time I had to have a GA they gave me a cap to put on and I was shaking so much I couldn't do it.You are very brave taking part in a trial when you know how it will make you feel. If you have to do it again ask for something to calm you before hand. shamrock

Kim19 Wed 15-Jun-22 15:40:06

Yes, you are being daft but...... understandably so. I'll be thinking of you. ??

geekesse

I love going under general anaesthetic! I’ve had a few procedures over the years, and look forward to the quick, easy, blissful descent into sleep.

So do I!! I love it that as soon as you ‘go under’, you seem to immediately wake up again.
I’m sure everything will be fine for you Lucca. flowers

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 15-Jun-22 15:25:51

They will look after you, hold your hand and then you’ll be very relaxed and sleepy and won’t know a thing until you wake up and it’s all over. It’s a nice feeling and not frightening.

Good luck, thinking of you as ever.

X

Good luck for tomorrow Lucca - I hope and trust that everything goes well for you. You’re not being daft at all - just feeling vulnerable. I felt exactly the same when I had my BC surgery. Tell them how you’re feeling (they’ll want to know so they can reassure you). Thinking of you and sending positive thoughts and vibes x. flowers

Thank you Lucca for taking part in thistrail. It is perfectly normal to feel anxious and you should tell the medical staff how you are feeling as they know how to put patients at ease. flowers

Callistemon21 Wed 15-Jun-22 14:25:48

You're not alone, Lucca, I think a general anaesthetic is a worrying thing - perhaps it's the thought of not being in control?
However, anaesthetists and the nursing staff are always so kind and before you know it you'll be back in recovery.

I hope the results of the trial will help you and others flowers

Poppyred Wed 15-Jun-22 14:19:55

Best of luck Lucca you will be fine.
