Good Morning Everyone,
A sunny start this morning with high cloud over brackley at the moment.
Today , a bus trip to Bicester as usual , carrying water with me.
My new mobile works properly , spent less than 10 minutes in store , was told never use aeroplane mode as it switches off phone and internet.
Take Care,
Mick

Thanks Aldom - good to have a validation there! ?

Aldom Thu 16-Jun-22 08:32:21

Urmstongran I read Cutting for Stone several years ago. I'd borrowed the book from the library, but bonded with the story so much so that I bought my own copy. It's a special book. Enjoy.

Good morning everyone from another bright and sunny ? day in Northampton. A bit of washing to do this morning then an early lunch and out to my dance classes. Then out for an evening walk followed by dinner at the pub.

A very pleasant evening at DD's yesterday; she was hosting our ladies' wine club, and we tasted some delicious white wines.

Must get my skates on as Sainsbury's is due shortly. May the sun shine on all of us today.

Morning all! DH has woken u with (yet another!) UTI ?
So it will be off to the docs first thing to get more antibiotics and get them to send sample to lab.
I started a cough last night, had usual bad night-waking every 1/2 hours. Cough feels worse.
Had sat next to a lady at lunch on Tuesday who, halfway through meal, told me she has pleurisy!! Why didn’t she stay home?

dragonfly46 Thu 16-Jun-22 08:16:58

Good morning from sunny Leicestershire.

Packing today for a trip down south tomorrow to visit DD and SiL then longing in the garden with my book club book which I am enjoying The Giver of Stars by Jojo Moyes.

Chrissielou Thu 16-Jun-22 08:14:10

A beautiful calm warm and very sunny start to the day in Oxfordshire, its going to be another hot one. I shall be sneaking (skiving one might say) into the garden at every opportunity today, it was such a hectic work day yesterday, I'm looking forward to weekend again!
Scentia and Kittylester what lovely pics of the tots, precious little ones.
DD1 has just done 7th chemo session, 5 remaining. She's struggling with total exhaustion, high glucose levels due to the steroids but the end is in sight.
Must get on, I hope you all have a day which makes you smile. smile

Stilllearning Thu 16-Jun-22 08:12:53

Morning from a lovely bright S Lanarkshire with a warm (by our standards!) day forecast, hooray.

Lovely photos Scentia and kittylester.

Thoroughly enjoyed our meet up on Tuesday but, like everyone else missed baubles and Kalu as well as others who couldn’t make it.

Need to get going soon, deciding to have a good clear out has meant reducing the house to chaos and decisions have to be made re clothes which I really like but know I won’t wear again.

Later I am looking forward to going out for tea with DD2 and then watching 12 year old ‘ DGD’s last school concert in primary school. Again, the years have flown by.

Wishing everyone the best possible day and, as always, remembering those who have extra struggles just now ???

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where we have a glorious start to the day like many of you. We have no plans until 3pm when we do our usual school pick up and swimming lessons. I think reading on the verandah will be the order of my day till then. I shall put on some shorts, a vest tee and sun cream.

Sitting 2 floors up is great for people watching too! And only very rarely do folk look up as they walk so I am totally unobserved.

Last nights book club was great and the staff in the pub were lovely. I have t been in since well before Covid and so it was a nice change. They now stock a huge range of gins! One or two of our group jumped the first time a train came into the station as the room we used was adjacent to the tracks.

Anyone not interested in books might want to swerve the rest of my post ...
?

I’ve decided to give up on my own reading of “This is Not a Pity Memoir” which was recommended to me by my friend in Bristol. The author wrote ‘The Split’ which was televised starring Nicola Walker and the gorgeous Stephen Mangan. Well I’m 48% in, it’s so boring and I’m ditching it today. Relief! Readers amongst us will know what I mean.

Anyway, chat last night turned to highly recommended novels and these are the ones I fancy:

Betty
Cutting for Stone
The Polished Hoe
American Wife
To Paradise
and our next book club read, which is The Buddha in the Attic.

You can tell I have a lot of ‘me’ time! I have no garden to attend to and I don’t bake or do crafts. Sad me is already looking forward to choosing today’s reading material for relaxation ha!

Hope Thursday (already?) is good to us all. x

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Summer has definitely arrived!

Well done Mick persevering with the phone and not throwing it in the boating lake like young Miss Scentia

The school concert last night was terrific. The first time in 2 years that the choir and orchestra had an audience and you can imagine the noise level and that was just the applause
It was still light when I got home at 10pm.
Coffee with friends old and new this morning and then a big tidy up in my studio as 3 students are coming this evening for a "taster" session of pottery.

I am glad to hear that DH is improved on his new drugs gM
Have as happy a day as you can everyone, whatever you do.

Grandmabatty Thu 16-Jun-22 07:53:53

Good morning all from Polmont where it's warm at 14° with some sun. Kittylester and Scentia lovely photos of much loved weans. NanKate enjoy Jools. I like his music a lot. Marydoll have a nice trip and fish supper.
Yesterday mum cancelled again. I spent time in the garden putting down weedkiller as there is a very invasive creeping weed which is proliferating despite me pulling it out every day. So I finally succumbed to weedkiller.
Today I have nothing planned. I think I'll spend time in the garden. I'm not good at doing nothing for long so some gentle pottering will ensue. Have a good day all.

ShazzaKanazza Thu 16-Jun-22 07:53:17

Good Morning Mick and everyone from another lovely morning in Hull.

grandMattie good to hear your DH had a better day yesterday?
Such beautiful grandchild pictures to put a smile on all our faces.

Today we are having a drive up to IKEA near Leeds. DH needs some cupboards for his office at home. Mostly they are for the GCs toys. We’ll do the sweep of the Junction 32 outlet as well on the way back. So a bit of a shopping day today.

Have a lovely Thursday if you can and thoughts and virtual hugs for those facing illness and family worries. ??

Grandmadinosaur Thu 16-Jun-22 07:49:46

Good morning all and another sunny one here in East Yorkshire.

I’ve woken up with the songs from Les Mis going through my head after the show last night. It was an excellent production. We thoroughly enjoyed it. It was very warm in the theatre though despite the air conditioning being on.

Today is a go with the flow day. DH might have a gap in his day WFH and we will pop out for a coffee. GS here after school.

Lovely photos of GC kitty and scentia

Take care everyone.

Gingster Thu 16-Jun-22 07:47:16

Good morning all from a sunny day on the Suffolk coast.
We’re always a little cooler here by the sea but it’s still going to be a scorcher.☀️.

Yesterdays walk from Iken to Snape along the river was lovely. DH’s legs held out and coffee, cake for him and an ice cream for me was very welcome. They have closed the Granary cafe which seems crazy as it was always busy , so now they just have the large Concert hall restaurant.

Today we will walk little pooch early and then shop for the weekend.

Lovely pics of GC. ❤️

Enjoy the day ! ?

brook2704 Thu 16-Jun-22 07:42:20

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s cloudy and warm, hoping the sun comes out later
I had a busy day yesterday including a lovely long catch up with my friend, today I’m planning a quiet day, staying at home and pottering about in the garden. I’m a bit tired as I took ages to get to sleep last night after easy-jet cancelled one of our flights for an upcoming trip and rapid rearranging had to be done. All sorted though now fingers crossec!
Lovely pictures kitty and Scentia
Hoping all goes well pittcity
Enjoy Jools Holland nankate, Ive only seen him once and he was very good, Lulu was with him too
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, take care all whatever the day brings ?

Ashcombe Thu 16-Jun-22 07:33:34

Good morning, all, from a sunny Torbay.

The play, for which I was steward last night, was full of twists and turns, a tale of the unexpected! Afterwards, I enjoyed meeting recently enrolled members in the bar before driving home under a beautiful sky, still light at nearly 10.30 p.m.

The news about your DH must be a relief, grandMattie, and I hope this settled phase continues and that you are taking care of yourself.

Lovely photos of grandchildren, Scentia and kittylester. You might find you’re entitled to an upgrade on your phone, BlueBalou. Technology moves on at such a rate!

Shopping and Jboom class today. Enjoy the sunshine! ?????

Marydoll Thu 16-Jun-22 07:31:19

Good morning all from a bright, but cloudy Glasgow. A warm day is forecast, but with showers.

Kitty, what a lovely photo!
Oh dear Mick, thank goodness it was something simple. Easily done!

Yesterday was lovely, but I was too tired to do anything apart from a visit to the hairdresser's, after the meet up the previous day. It is always such a tonic, especially as it was quiet and we had a right old natter. They know DD and her mishaps well and were keen to hear about her latest antics. ?

There are plants awaiting planting, but they will need to be patient until the weekend, until DD can do it. I'm quite annoyed that the garden is getting too much for me.

DH has suggested we go for a run doon the watter, to escape allow the lodger work in peace.
I have suggested we have fish suppers, then I won't have to cook!!!
Probably, visit to a garden centre will be fitted in somewhere. I am working on that!

At some point, I must organise a group of volunteers to help put on a spread in our church hall on Sunday, we have a big celebration, with the Bishop coming.
Many of our volunteers are very elderly, so I am frantically trying to encourage the younger members of the congregation to help out. Contacting them is the problem!

I wish you all a very pleasant day, whatever your plans.
Our patients in the sick bay and their families remain as always in my thoughts and prayers.

Ali23 Thu 16-Jun-22 07:29:37

Good morning everyone. Glad the phone is up and running, Mick.
GM, I’m glad things have settled down a little. Your baking plans sound delicious. I’ll be topping up the banana bun stock this afternoon with a bit of a batch baking session. Then they’ll all go in the freezer.
Yesterday I volunteered at the local country park, helping a school party to explore the river. Great fun!

I hope that Thursday is as good as it can be for us all.

Pittcity Thu 16-Jun-22 07:29:30

Good morning from sunny Colchester. Another hot day here.
I want to get the bedding washed and on the line and the ironing done before it gets too warm.

I have an MOT at noon. Luckily my GP surgery is only a short walk. I expect to be told that I'm overweight etc. Tell me something I don't know.

Love to all ? x

NanKate Thu 16-Jun-22 07:22:26

What a cute photo Scentia.

NanKate Thu 16-Jun-22 07:21:34

Morning Mick Kitty and All.

Very hot in South Bucks today. ??

Fab picture Kitty ?

Off to see Jools Holland tonight, should be good, seen him 3 times and never been disappointed.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 16-Jun-22 07:00:52

Beautiful DC photos kittylester and scentia

GrannyGravy13 Thu 16-Jun-22 06:59:43

Morning all

Sun is up and my garden lounger is calling me. I think I shall pretend I am on holiday and read in the garden most of the day.

The 7yr old and The Imp will come round straight from school for a swim and splash, so I shall get some sausages, burgers and bits to put in the BBQ, saves DD having to cook when they get home,

Sending (((hugs))) to those in need

Keep safe and well folks ??‍♀️

Greyduster Thu 16-Jun-22 06:55:39

kitty that’s a wonderful photo! He’s growing fast!

Greyduster Thu 16-Jun-22 06:54:42

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Very good to hear you got your phone sorted Mick. It’s going to be another warm one here. DD came over for the day yesterday and we had a busy morning sorting out the jungle at the back of the garden wall. I couldn’t go on saying “it’s not my responsibility”; it had become an eyesore full of giant weeds and brambles. Then after lunch she helped me do some admin, make a hospital appointment, and we went for a walk along the river. She went home about eight o’clock. Today I’m having a quiet day. Wash the floors and repot my house plants is all I plan to do.
Have the best day you can folks.

kittylester Thu 16-Jun-22 06:47:19

Good morning from a very sunny and warm North Leicestershire.

Hopefully, I will sort out all my admin today. Out for tea, cake and a natter with a couple of old friends.

Wondrous Wolfie loved the train yesterday, waving very regally at everyone we passed.

Wishing everyone a happy Thursday.
