They are bee-eaters.

They are truly beautiful - hope you are prepared to be inundated with spotters!
Thank you for sharing.

A baby robin flew into our conservatory this morning and had to be shown where the door was with the aid of a large sheet of newspaper - it was beautiful close-up too!

I’m up in Scotland, so unfortunately I’ve no chance of seeing them in the flesh as it were.

I had a wood pigeon in my conservatory last Monday. Unhurt and very laid back, so I managed to pick it up properly and release it outside. My reward for feeding it, I guess.

What beautiful birds.
Will you be lucky enough to see them?

We lived in Bulgaria for some years, we had them in the garden all the time. They are unbelievably beautiful ?

How lovely to have lived in Bulgaria Meryl and seen these lovely birds all of the time.

Seven have taken up residence near me in Norfolk. I doubt I’ll see them but the pictures are beautiful.

We are regularly visited by green woodpeckers. At the moment there is a young one flying round making squeaky noises. I feel so privileged plus they are a link to my late son and as such a comfort, but that’s another story.

Update on these beautiful birds is that they have bred. The RSPB Twitter feed includes a live cam.

I know someone who is a very keen bird-watcher, and he saw these beautiful birds recently and managed to get some photos (albeit with a zoom lens)
