Yes I had this a couple of days ago, saying I'd be taken to court if I didn't reply.

It just goes to show that the people behind the scam don’t understand the UK system - my recording was an Australian voice.

HMRC - Her Majesties Revenue and Customs. They are the one that collect our taxes and hand them over to the treasury, so that makes sense.

But nothing to do with the Ministry of Justice, unless the scammers do not understand how things work and think the Ministry of Justice deal with tax arrears.

I don’t get the connection with HMRC, that would be enough in itself to raise my suspicions

I’ve had this one - a recorded message said they’re working with HMRC, you’ve underpaid income tax and they want you to connect with an associate - who presumably will want your bank details to empty your account.
