I think GPs not seeing people face to face is as worrying as the situation in A&E. When our DD was referred, her face and neck had swollen like a balloon. Her one eye closed up. Her GP gave her as prescription without seeing her which was of no help. The next day it was worse.
The doc at A&E was furious with her GP. He couldn't believe he hadn't asked to see her on zoom, or asked her if her throat was closing up. He said she could have gone into anaphylactic shock and potentially died. It proved to be 'an allergy to a substance unknown'.
Just to add, although she didn't see the A&E doc for 8 hours, a nurse assessed her and gave her something which reduced the swelling.
