Blossoming Tue 26-Jul-22 21:39:55

Good evening dear Kitcheners, just a flying visit as I’m late and tired. Hope Mr. Muse is doing well and fingers crossed for tomorrow Soop.

Urmstongran Tue 26-Jul-22 20:49:31

‘Evening All’

I’ve started doing Lucky Dips on the Euro Millions. Hope springs eternal. Just checked my numbers. Nope. Oh well I’ll have another go soon!

Your cinema trip sounded just the ticket Maw. Even better bumping into friends! Good luck tomorrow Mr.Soop hope all goes well and glad your sore eye is less irritated LLFL I’d be wearing a patch, a lá Bette Davis, to rest my eye when at home. It’s surprising how often we blink and limiting that repetitive movement would soothe while it heals.

I’ve been watching trashy tv today and thoroughly enjoying it! On Channel 5 there’s a programme called ‘Brits in the Sun on the Cheap’ or something. Anyway I’m finding it cringingly addictive so I’m off to watch another episode. Himself is cheering on our Lionesses. I hope they do well but I’ve no interest in sport (any kind). *They do say opposites attract...

Hi all, I’m pleasantly tired after two hours of bowls this afternoon, had fun too, it’s good meeting different people.
Just finished chicken balti I made earlier, needed that.
I hope Mrmuse had successful surgery and is recovering well.
Yia slow down! Sticks are there to be used, glad you have one.
He sounds ‘unique’ Shazza and I can think of worse things to be called! Enjoy your meal ?
I’ve been on that boat, well, one of them brook a pleasant jaunt, the castle definitely has presence, hope you’ve sent the rain here please.
Dry as a dry thing in S Hants with a hosepipe ban looming, not good.
Have a gentle evening all x

brook2704 Tue 26-Jul-22 20:08:45

Your description of your uncle did make me laugh Shazza hope he’s doing ok
Sounds like you had a lovely day at the cinema maw, good that your TV is fixed in time for the match ⚽️

MawtheMerrier Tue 26-Jul-22 19:24:14

Good luck tomorrow Soop and Mr S, hope everything goes smoothly including the journey.
I went to probably one of the most beautiful films I have ever seen today. It was the life of the artist Eric Ravilious whose work I have always loved.
The cinema, a small “art house” one, part of the Royal & Derngate complex in Northampton was virtually empty but I was pleasantly surprised to see two very dear friends who used to live across the green from us in the village, in the car park. So I had company as well and somebody to enthuse with as we came out.
My TV aerial has been fixed so I am all set to watch the Lionesses v Sweden this evening (if my nerves can take it!)
Wishing you all a pleasant evening and a peaceful night.

Good evening lovely Kitcheners.
Soop hope Mr Soop’s scan goes well tomorrow. ?
Brook I love how your GD asked for her gel pens. GC are such delights. When we had GD a couple of weeks ago she had anything she wanted. We did tell her the day was all about her so as far as she was concerned it was open season. It’s our dream for our 7 year old GS to ask us for something. He’ll talk one day ?

Yia take it easy tonight we don’t know when to stop do we. ?
Ladyleftfieldlover hope your eye feels better soon with the eye drops. ?

We visited my uncle today funny man he is.
Picture this, he’s 76. So he walked out to me wearing his khaki shorts, skinny white legs no socks but sandals on. His white tea shirt didn’t quite meet his shorts belly it’s a bit big which is being investigated. He had on one of these huge top hats people wear on St Patrick’s night in pubs. He’d bought it for 40 pence from the reception in his assisted living. He buys all sorts of junk yet he’s the tightest man with money.
I couldn’t stop laughing. He looked like a geriatric ball boy (to quote Del Boy) in a St Patrick’s Day top hat. Hilarious.?
Going out for a meal tonight I need that glass of wine lol.

Speak soon everyone. Have a good evening. X

soop Tue 26-Jul-22 17:08:24

Sorry, this will be a fleeting visit. I have been trying to get to the bottom of a very strange message sent to my FB page. Have spoken with my son, who now confirms that it is a spoof. I have to block all other contact with messages from who I supposed was his father-in-law. Buggerations!

Off to Oban hospital for Mr S's scan tomorrow. I will eventually catch up with you. I am thinking of you all. You know that.

brook2704 Tue 26-Jul-22 16:36:42

Pleased that you’ve got something to sort out your eye llfl hopefully it’ll be better soon
Hope you’ve ordered that washer nannytopsy you’ll need it! And hope you got back to sleep eventually
Im just in from taking DGD back home so the first thing is a cuppa and a sit down ….. we’ve had a lovely day which started by dropping DGS off at his basketball camp and then we took DGD to Urquhart Castle. It was much busier than the last few times we’ve been with lots of coaches in the car park. She enjoyed running around and down to the loch side watching the boats come in and we enjoyed the beautiful views. She negotiated a swap of her promised ice cream for some gel pens from the instead, although she’s already got 3 pencil cases full she still wanted more as ^‘these are different ones nanna^’ ?
Also I need to report that it’s eventually stopped raining here and the sun has come out! ?

Yiayia4 Tue 26-Jul-22 15:06:48

Afternoon everyone.much cooler but pleasant here today.

Think I’ve overdone the dog walking, out came the stick this morning (the old lady is back.) it’s such a big deal to do anything so I won’t.?

Nice photo Soop.Hope all goes well for Mr Muse today.?
Have a good evening all.

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 26-Jul-22 13:26:18

Hello everyone. I popped into Boots and spoke to the Pharmacist. She had a look at my eye and suggested antibiotic eye drops. I have to put one drop in every two hours for 48 hours and then 4-hourly for another three days. I have just eaten a delicious beef sandwich and may have an iced lolly later. The gardener is here so before too long things will be less straggly.

Nannytopsy Tue 26-Jul-22 01:18:57

Just been searching t’interweb for a new washing machine. Mine has stopped (AGAIN) full of washing and water. I have a large pile of washing and a houseful over the weekend.
Currys can deliver on Friday …
Now I can’t sleep.
Maw what an upset!
soop I love that photo. Please send some of your rain - even the weeds are dead in our lawn.
Oh well, phone off and try to sleep again. DH asked for the fan (which is rattling) and his CPAP machine is hissing loudly tonight.

Blossoming Mon 25-Jul-22 21:37:06

Maw ?

Urmstongran Mon 25-Jul-22 21:13:21

Sláinte! Maw. ?

MawtheMerrier Mon 25-Jul-22 20:35:41

What an amazing sky, Soop!
I’ve had a quiet but not unpleasant day with my memories and I have to admit bearable weather conditions! Walked Rosie as usual to say hello to Paw on our anniversary and met a few village friends some with dogs, some without.
No joy with the aerial today, but a man is coming tomorrow morning ??maybe.
Could sone of that torrential wet stuff be directed this way please I have beige carpet in front of the house and behind and it rained about 12 spots this morning -just enough to get the washing in and then wonder why I bothered. Warm wind though, not too uncomfortable but strange.
Treating myself to a wee dram his evening and a new Ruth Galloway book on my iPad. Who needs TV (especially when what’s on offer is Rishi vs Truss) ?

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 25-Jul-22 20:20:07

I had a lovely day with son and granddaughter. After a lunch of bangers and mash followed by homemade lemon ice cream we set off for a long walk. My two b******d knees managed to survive but my right eye was sore☹️ I’ll pop into the chemist tomorrow for some drops. I think something irritated it on Saturday afternoon but it’s hurting now. Anyway. Son and granddaughter went back to London and all was back to normal. OH made us chicken sandwiches for dinner and I’m just about to eat a mini magnum. Annoyingly I had a migraine this afternoon - I had one yesterday too. I hope tomorrow will be a better day!

Urmstongran Mon 25-Jul-22 20:06:01

Even Dixon was too much of an effort!

‘Evening All’

Really I’ve done bugger all today. Read a bit, phoned a friend (we were on ages), made the tea and that’s pretty much the size of it. Will try a bit harder tomorrow ...

Good evening Kitcheners. I met a teacher friend for coffee this morning and we blethered for ages. Soop that's still a lovely sky. Yiayia a gorgeous dog! A friend of my son had Dalmatians and they were lovely dogs but very dippy! We've had rain here off and on all day which does save me watering the garden. I'll need to feed the tomatoes and the peas though. Blossoming I've started Spanish and be I'm thoroughly enjoying it. The only thing is be that I think it's Latin American rather than European Spanish. I love how it's making my synapses snap! Cajun chicken and pasta for dinner. Have a good evening all

Blossoming Mon 25-Jul-22 19:37:42

Good evening dear Kitcheners. I seem to have been ‘busy doing nothing’ today, I don’t know where the time has gone. I have cycled to nowhere in particular, done my physio and spent quite a while on Duolingo learning Gaelic!

Yia your visitor is gorgeous! Glad your DH is home safe Jax and you got to enjoy your wine. I will be thinking of you and your DH tomorrow Muse.

Brook I found some Gaelic programs on YouTube called ‘Speaking Our Language’ that look rather good.

Early night for me, laters! grin

Jaxjacky Mon 25-Jul-22 19:09:50

No rain at all here, well, unless you count the few spots you’d get from shaking your hands dry, zilch, rather worrying.
MrJ got into my car at 9:30 last night, 10 minute drive; at home I had wine, he had coffee, think he’d had plenty of beer in Belfast!
You reminded me Hiraeth I have blackberry& apple in the freezer, mentally noted for cooler times.
Stocked up on books at the library, waved the duster about and dinner is on the way, bowls tomorrow pm.
Enjoy your evening all x

ShazzaKanazza Mon 25-Jul-22 19:01:10

Good evening lovely Kitcheners hope you’ve enjoyed your day. I’m jealous of your rain. Drove back from mums today and as we got near home it was torrential. I said to DGS Grandad will be happy with the rain it will be watering the garden. Less than a mile to our house and it was bone dry.

Had DGS all day today and he was lovely. Took him to mums over lunch but he only wanted to stay an hour then he wanted to go. She loved seeing him even for a short time. He played lovely at ours but as soon as his Dad walked in he wanted to go. Feet up now chilling.

Grandmabatty your life drawing is wonderful the colours really draw you in.
Yia what a handsome Dalmatian.
That’s such an atmospheric photograph Soop. You really see some dramatic skies.

Enjoy your evening everyone speak soon x

brook2704 Mon 25-Jul-22 18:00:34

Just home from a Tesco shop, everything going up up up in price! Anyhow we’ve got salmon, rice and peas to eat later - a sort of deconstructed salmon risotto I think…
I think it’s just about stopped raining, double fingers crossed. It’s been so wet here for a couple of days we’re in danger of floating away. We’ve been looking after 7year old DGD, her big brother is at a basketball camp everyday this week so she’s got our undivided attention. We went swimming this morning and then back to ours for lunch. I’ve been trying to teach her to knit but she’s not got the hang of it yet! Early days …
Harper is beautiful Yia thanks for sharing the picture
Hope all goes ok tomorrow muse

soop Mon 25-Jul-22 17:17:24

Hiraeth It is good to have you back in the kitchen. When, in due course, you bake the blackberry and apple crumble, please save some for me. What a treat. smile

Maw Hell's bells! Both you and Rosie must have wondered what on earth was happening when you heard that crash. You are wise to stay well clear of the area. I hope that you can get things fixed without too much delay.

Yia Better news of your brother-in-law. I hope that he continues to make a steady recovery.
I also think that Harper is extremely handsome.

We didn't have the usual red sunset last night. The moody grey clouds were still captivating.

Night night for now. I hope to be with you again tomorrow. smile moon

soop Mon 25-Jul-22 17:02:27

muse Your husband is in my thoughts. (hugs) for you both.

muse Sun 24-Jul-22 23:46:08

Good Evening Kitcheners. The welcome rain last night and almost constant drizzle today has replenished our stream a little. The tanks are filling up much quicker, thank goodness. I have washing mounting up! Well done with your washing machine Charleygirl5.

Very pleased to hear you had a better day cornergran. Hope you enjoyed the meal. Thank you for the cake.

Good news from you too Yia. What a beautiful dog Harper is.

You are ahead of us, here in mid Cornwall, with the blackberries Hiraeth. They are mere tiny bundles on the brambles at the moment. Bramble jelly will be on my list.

MrMuse would have preferred Truro soop but the hospital is overflowing at the moment. He has a cancellation at Penzance so it will be about a one and a quarter hours drive on Tuesday. Heavier traffic at this time of year.

I hope to hear from my DS soon as he should be moving into his new rented house any day now.

Take care kind kitcheners.
