WELCOME. How pleased I am to be able to say...we have a new gathering place.

Hope your bruises aren’t too painful blossoming and you’re taking it really easy today so you’re definitely ok for tomorrow
Just sat in the lounge at Inverness airport, the Luton flight is showing a 45minute delay but that’s not too bad. I’ll be on my way soon enough ..
Hoping all is fine with nannytopsys DD and there’s some good news soon
Thanks for the pudding neine I’ll just have a couple of spoonfuls …

Naughtyneine Fri 05-Aug-22 13:20:41

I hope you are not too uncomfortable Blossoming. The Naked Flying Acrobat is now fully recovered and my bruised are fading fast.
Llfl... That's a beautiful colour.
Nannytopsy...I hope all goes well for your DD.... It's such an exciting but terrifying time isn't it. I've been there 10 times (all boys after having 4 daughters). I will share that story soon as I'm sure it must be strange that I haven't mentioned any of them so far.
I'm on a flying overnight visit to where I used to live... Originally to pick up something for the car but have squeezed in a visit to my old hairdresser and nail bar. I haven't found anywhere locally that compares but really can't justify a 400 mile round trip that often so am making the most of today.
I've left a summer pudding on the side with some chantilly cream in the fridge.... Help yourselves. Happy Friday afternoon everyone.

As Sweetie Pie is being so well cared for as usual, I think I may also make arrangements to move in also. I agree, that is another Rory in the making, he will just take longer to find his feet indoors but he will be settled by Christmas.

My kitchen is being rewired, I cannot cook so in the supermarket today I was popping salads and a selection of cheeses in my trolley. The work started yesterday.

A woman, a stranger to me, ferreted around in my trolley and then asked me if I was no longer cooking! She was quiet and moved away when I told her the reasons why I did not have anything to cook. Some people are unbelievable.
TOYA

The only time I commented on the contents of someone’s trolley was in a Waitrose a few years ago. The trolley was full of cucumbers so I had to ask. She told me they were good for her skin. So did she bathe in them, eat them or what?

Hellogirl1 Fri 05-Aug-22 12:44:48

Ladyleftfieldlover, I get his point, but I think it looks lovely. I have some photos on the wall that faces you coming down our stairs, all of my 5 kids as babies.

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 05-Aug-22 11:13:05

This is how it’s going so far. Younger son thinks the landing looks like a liquorice all sort! I’ve been putting photos on the family WhatsApp group.

Dogsmakemesmile Fri 05-Aug-22 09:27:56

Nannytopsy thinking of you and DD.

cornergran Thu 04-Aug-22 23:06:18

Ouch blossoming. Rest well, you need to be oh so much better for Saturday.

Blossoming Thu 04-Aug-22 22:27:21

I’m late to the kitchen tonight. It’s been a somewhat fraught day as I had a nasty fall this morning shortly after getting out of bed. I landed on something hard and angular, bashed my back and shoulder and was very shaken. I’ve been doing so well and it feels like a real knock back. Nothing seems to be damaged but it’s all stiffening up now and I think I’ll have some glorious bruises. Mr. B took me to a garden centre after lunch to buy a plant and pot for my cousin’s wedding anniversary on Saturday. I didn’t have to walk far or carry anything so it was OK. Tomorrow I will be super lazy as we are seeing them on Saturday evening and I want to be well enough to enjoy it.

Soop I still managed 45 minutes pedalling to Nowheresville and one hour of Gaelic grin

Thanks for all the good wishes, much appreciated.

Nannytopsy hoping for a positive outcome for your daughter, such a worrying time for you x

Jaxjacky Thu 04-Aug-22 21:27:52

Crossed posts brook good news.
I wondered Charleygirl if the person may have mental health issues, still disconcerting though.

Jaxjacky Thu 04-Aug-22 21:25:43

Yiayia great bbq weather, I’m sure it went/is going really well.
Hope you didn’t nod off here corner you maybe missed, hostess with the mostest!
Crumbs Nannytopsy tricky for everyone, time must be in slow motion for you, ?for a safe birth; when you’re ready baby.
Well that’s very trying brook hope it’s back on now.
Busy day here on the voluntary phone line, few ‘proper’ calls, but queries that needed sorting, people reassuring. A thorough clean upstairs this morning was followed by a pleasant lunch with a friend.
Greenhouse and garden drenched, watering cans tomorrow.
A need for a mini magnum is a good sign Grandmabatty, onwards.
Shout out to Blossoming x
Enjoy the rest of your evening all x

brook2704 Thu 04-Aug-22 21:18:14

Charleygirl - I’d hate anyone looking in my trolley wondering what I was buying. You’re maybe right though Maw it’s a valid point with the energy prices on the up up up
Interesting about the prices in Malaga too Urms, probably the same everywhere although having said that the petrol prices have come down here by around 20p a litre recently - still unbelievably high though
We’ve just got the water back on now so it’s a cup of tea, a shower and then an early night as tomorrow I’m off to visit DD1 and family in Cambridge. Luckily the flight isn’t until just 2.30 so I don’t have an early start. Looking forward to seeing them all as always!

MawtheMerrier Thu 04-Aug-22 20:53:15

Just wondering Charleygirl if it might not have been a caring enquiry, perhaps thinking that you were cutting back on your energy consumption?
I certainly think we’ll all be looking for cheaper ways of putting food on the table, especially when the weather cools down.

Grandmabatty Thu 04-Aug-22 20:52:15

Charleygirl I'm gobsmacked at the cheek of that random woman! How rude!

‘Evening All’

Another gorgeous day here. ?
Just had a shower and I’m sitting on the balcony with a glass of chilled white El Coto. The gardens are still busy with the Spanish on holiday. I’ve counted 50 or so & the teens are in the pools. It closes at 10pm in August as it’s still light. It’s lovely this evening, not at all humid.

Himself (the supermacado shopper - I write the lists) said the prices have shot up since April. We do buy a lot of Spanish groceries - butter, eggs, tinned tomatoes etc. - but for example a large jar of Nescafé coffee is now over €6. He said everything has gone up in price, some in big jumps. Not just the UK then he said, as he peered into his wallet upon his return.
?

He’s watching Sky News now with Hurly Burley & Liz Truss. I’m taking a break from all things political during August! It’s cathartic.

Thanks everyone for the support!
It’s a shock when the water disappears Brook. We have lost both water and electricity in the last couple of weeks but both came back quite quickly.
Have a good evening everyone.

Grandmabatty Thu 04-Aug-22 19:23:18

Brook no toilet flushing! I did do the ironing and even put it away.☺️ The tuna salad was exactly what I needed but I couldn't finish it. Definite loss of appetite. Mind you, I had room for a mini magnum. Enjoy the rest of your evening Kitcheners

brook2704 Thu 04-Aug-22 18:07:51

Try not to worry nannytopsy I’m sure your DD is being closely monitored but I’m sure it’ll be a relief in more ways than one when the little one is safely here ?

I do really like that colour llfl it looks gorgeous. I too usually play it safe with pale paint colours on the walls but add a touch of colour elsewhere. I so much wish I was braver with the colours though

Pleased to hear you’re feeling a wee bit better grandmabatty but please just rest and don’t bother with the ironing

You deserve a very well earned rest cornergran after looking after your visitors so well. Hoping your friend recovers soon too

A bit of a drama here just now as we got in about out 3.30 after having dropped the two terrors off home (I’m definitely not calling them DGC today!) but there’s no water … checked the Scottish water website and there’s a burst water main with an estimated time of 8pm to be restored. We’ve about a third of the kettle full and two half empty kids water bottles and that’s it .. luckily my friend down the road isn’t affected so if it’s not on by 8 I’ll be down there to fill up my kettle

ShazzaKanazza Thu 04-Aug-22 18:01:22

Good afternoon dear Kitcheners. It’s been a cooler day here in Hull today.
Just been to the gym and pottering around doing some shopping. Just had DH sleeping laid half on me. I kept nodding off as well but I kept snoring and waking myself up ?. We are going for an Indian soon so no cooking tonight.

Soop sweetie pie is making himself more and more comfortable at your house. He knows which side his bread is buttered that one.

Urms it looks lovely in that garden I’d love to be joining you for a sangria my favourite. Good to hear that Manchester airport was ok to get through.

NannyTopsy I hope your DDs baby is dancing happily inside again. I had to go in for a week when I had my DD 35 years ago she kept going quiet. People used to say they go quiet just before birth but DD who is a midwife said that’s not really true and they worry about it now.

Yia your diamond art chimes are beautiful if you ever start selling them let me know.

Grandmabatty hope you feel better every day.

Cornergran you definitely deserve to sit on the comfy seat with your feet up.

Have a lovely evening everyone speak soon X ?

Nannytopsy Thu 04-Aug-22 17:50:32

DD remains in hospital, following ’reduced movements’ but the induction process these days is very slow - could be 3 or 4 days before anything happens. To my mind that is risky. Why the reduced movements? He has been very active - is he tied up with the cord? I would be asking for a CS now but of course it’s not about me.
As a result we are at their house looking after the dog but may go home tomorrow and take her with us. We can come back when needed.
I have spent the afternoon snoozing on their very comfy sofa ?
You’ll tame that cat yet soop!

soop Thu 04-Aug-22 17:31:08

Yia I am also very impressed with your diamond art.

Grandmabatty Tuna salad is a wise and healthy choice. your body will tell you that you are recovering when your appetite returns. No rush. Take things very easy, please.

corner Feet up and breathe, deep and slow. Ahhh! That's better. smile

I've done quite a bit of exercise today. Walking, pedaling and gardening. Ready to make a brew and watch 'Pointless'.

Take care of yourselves, lovely peoples. I hope to spend time with you again tomorrow. smile moon

Grandmabatty Thu 04-Aug-22 16:29:03

Ladyleftfieldlover I love the raspberry colour! My bathroom is deep pink. The rest of my house is neutral but with bright accents in cushions etc. Yiayia I love your diamond art too. Very creative.
I am better today than yesterday but easily tired. I have a cough too which is 'productive'. Horrible term. Cornergran have the high backed chair in the corner. It's meant for you. Peace and quiet.
A quiet day for me. I ironed and I was tired after so still recovering. My appetite has disappeared so I'll concoct a tuna salad for dinner. I've gone right off meat and cheese and can't be bothered cooking at all. Have a good evening Kitcheners

cornergran Thu 04-Aug-22 16:16:21

Just sneaking in for a rest in a quiet corner. Our friends have just left, they arrived on Sunday morning. We love their company but goodness I’m tired now. Feet up in a quiet for a while is definitely needed. You’ll be pleased to hear I managed not to poison them grin.

Sweetie Pie is getting braver soop, wonder if she’ll be in front of the fire this winter. Good for you ann, forward planning is reassuring I always think. Lovely to have a new table to enjoy now. The thought of all that pedalling makes me even more tired blossoming, good for you. A hug coming your way nannytopsy, will look out for your news. Good news about your bloods hellogirl.

Apologies, I can’t recall any more news but be assured I do think of you all

I’m off now to check on poorly people. Our friend’s recovery isn’t proving to be straightforward, will try to get through to the ward and with luck have a brief chat with her. Sadly she can’t manage a mobile phone. Two of ours have brought covid back from their holiday, it’s so frustrating not to be able to help. A call will have to do for now.

Take care everyone. TOYA.

Yiayia4 Thu 04-Aug-22 16:14:40

Fingers crossed for your DD Nannytopsy.?
SweetiePie will soon be sitting on your lap Soop.
Love that colour LIF.
What a great section of Veg Jax.All we have is a hanging basket of tomatoes, but they do taste good.
Boris dog loves sitting on the garden swing he will miss it next week.!!
Better get on,Ds1 and family are coming for a BBQ later I just have salads and dessert to do DH will do the BBQ.
Pics of a couple of my diamond art chimes.

Dogsmakemesmile Thu 04-Aug-22 15:13:15

Annsixty congratulations on the new table and chairs. Sounds as if you have really thought things out.
Soop SweetiePie needs her own TV show. What a cat..she obviously brings you a great deal of joy.
Llf I love the raspberry mousse look. I tend to stick to creams and pale colours and then regret it. Have pushed the boat out a bit by choosing "tumeric" coloured curtains. Yikes.
Gorgeous day. TOYA
