WELCOME. How pleased I am to be able to say...we have a new gathering place.

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 15-Jul-22 20:26:57

Hello everyone. I’ve had a quiet day apart from picking up my prescription and buying some flowers. I find this weather difficult to cope with. I didn’t used to, but I do now. I was supposed to be going to London tomorrow to listen to my daughter sing with her choir. But, it’s going to be too hot, there is no shelter and she can’t guarantee me a seat. So, two hours in the open air isn’t really on. I rang her this evening to say I wasn’t going after all. She wasn’t too dismayed as we’ve just spent four days in Vienna.

Good evening lovely Kitcheners. I’ve had a read through your news. Just watching the debate on channel 4. Mmm ok!

Naughtyneine you made me laugh so much again you have such a way with words. Pleased there’s no harm done with your DH though thank goodness.

We had DGS from school. He wanted the water chute out again even though it wasn’t that warm. But he brought the box with the picture on to show us what he wanted so we couldn’t say no. Kids aren’t bothered are they. It’s worrying if there is a hosepipe ban as he won’t understand he can’t have his chute out so we need to think of something. How do you explain that to an autistic kiddie who does things over and over. ?? it won’t come to that.

riete ?

Ok I’ll get back to the debate and my glass of wine. Speak soon.?

Jaxjacky Fri 15-Jul-22 19:29:49

Grannmarie John is an excellent reason to venture out, I’m surprised you didn’t watch it twice!
The carpet burns might get the tongues wagging Naughtyneine I’m pleased he’s ok, what a tumble.
Lovely pictures corner I always find parking a bit of a pain there and tempted to buy fossils, found a couple a few years ago.
I’m busy organising ‘stuff’ for MrJ’s 60th, it’s actually on the 20th but all of his mates are out, with him, for a charity golf day tomorrow, convening in the pub afterwards, so decs and cake with family turning up are happening.
Watered again, what’s this rain you speak of? not a drop here down south, I think we’ll get a hosepipe ban at this rate.
Gammon in slo cooker, veg on their way, enjoy your evening all x

Grandmabatty Fri 15-Jul-22 17:46:49

We've had a wet wet wet day today which cleared to here comes the sun at three. Naughtyneine ouch. That sounds painful. I hope your husband is okay now.
Chiropodist appointment this morning and then dgs1 demanded to visit grandma, so down they came at twelve and stayed til half three. I'm about to eat cold leftover risotto for dinner. Have a good evening Kitcheners.

Hellogirl1 Fri 15-Jul-22 17:42:16

Thanks for the giggle Maw!
Corner, I always fancied Lyme egis, but we never made it to there. Lovely photos.
Soop, one of Lynne`s carers was admiring your painting of Billy this afternoon.

Grannmarie Fri 15-Jul-22 17:34:11

Oh, Soop, Dr Kildare!!!❤

soop Fri 15-Jul-22 17:30:34

A VERY warm welcome. riete. I apologise if you've been with us before. I am of a certain age and tend to be a bit befuddled from time to time. flowers

Thank you for your input, Ann, dealing with the ostomy is a doddle compared with juggling the cancer meds.

Urms I tip my hat to your dear step father. He sounds like a real trooper.

Yia I am also delighted to hear that your brother-in-law. I also hope that the right support will be available to help keep him comfortable.

Grannmarie A red letter day for you and your husband. Don Draper was indeed also a heart throb of mine. My first was Richard Chamberlain as Doctor Kildare. Swoon. wink

Cornergran we spent part of our honeymoon in Lyme Regis. The Cobb is beautiful. We have strolled along it several times.

Maw Very clever. grin

Naughtyneine You should write short stories. You have a gift and I love reading all about what's going on with you. Your husband was so lucky to have one of the dogs break his fall. After which, they would have fussed him with lots of licks and tail wagging. Never-the-less, the fall could have been really serious. You can both do without such drama. (hugs)

This morning we spent a good half an hour searching for both my hearing aids. We hadn't located them when a friend called in for coffee. I sat well forward in my chair and grasped the jist of what he was saying but, much of the time, I nodded when I thought it appropriate to do so. When he departed, we continued the search. Moved furniture, discovered dust. Unmade the bed. I donned rubber gloves and picked my way through the kitchen bin...just in case. And then I spied a bit of the rubber ear-piece lodged in a recess of the bedroom chest of drawers. After which, the second absconder fell from a blouse that was hanging on the side of the chest. I ask you. What a palarva. hmm

A lovely, warm sunny day with a gentle breeze. I am looking forward to my 8:30 glass of smooth, well-rounded, red wine. A Friday night treat.

TOYA. Lots of good vibes winging their way to wherever you are. smile moon

Naughtyneine Fri 15-Jul-22 12:37:59

A quieter start to the morning today ... . Yesterday I awoke to thumps...yelps and groans...poor DOH had fallen down the stairs.. hit the wall at the bottom and caterpaulted through the door ( our bedroom is in the former attic). He managed to squash one of the dogs on the way and by the time I got to him he was being "assisted" by all 3 dogs. I felt it inappropriate to point out that if he had worn his bed shorts even though it was a baking hot night then a cold wet nose taking an undue interest where the sun doesn't shine wouldn't be happening. Mind you I can hardly talk as when I was bending over him checking for breaks...blood etc...self same cold wet nose caught me by surprise too. Bless him... he's bruised and battered and has carpet grazes on his back and legs but nothing broken thankfully. I didn't murmur when he watched 2 episodes of Top Gear last night either. There seems to be lots of lovely positive things going on with you all.... Very different from a cold of weeks ago when my prayer list got very long!!!!!. I'm praying it will continue. I'll drop by later with a large mug of Pimm's....

Grannmarie Fri 15-Jul-22 10:59:37

Thank you, ladies, for your good wishes. We enjoyed the film and DH enjoyed driving again.
Tom Cruise looks amazing but my treat was feasting my eyes on John Hamm, I've been a fan since the early days of Madmen. Who can forget Don Draper?

brook2704 Fri 15-Jul-22 10:05:58

Weather update from Inverness - it’s raining!! Everything will get freshened up and watered a bit
maw that made me laugh, thank you!

Dogsmakemesmile Fri 15-Jul-22 09:17:58

GranMarie I am so glad you got out with DH to the cinema. Hopefully the first of many such outings.
Soop I hope the new medication does what you need it to do.Fingers crossed.
Wet here! That stuff called rain is falling down outside. My lawn looks so much happier. I haven't been using the hosepipe as neither DH and I can work out how to use it...it's a bit more complicated than screwing it onto the tap outside. Or so DH says.. Thinking of everyone for whom it's another very hot day.
Best wishes to all. TOYA

Grandmabatty Fri 15-Jul-22 07:16:43

I'm lying in bed laughing out loud at that Maw!

MawtheMerrier Fri 15-Jul-22 06:58:27

I felt so bad that Buzz had “lost the heid “ yesterday! I now find it was actually SIL’s! ???
Home yesterday and back today slower pace of life -phew! And at least 10C cooler too, v pleasant.
I saw this and thought of the Kitcheners as I haven’t provided any cake for a while gringrin

cornergran Fri 15-Jul-22 06:56:53

Morning All. Lovely day out yesterday. The Cobb at Lyme Regis is one of my favourite places. Our two loved it there, we sat for ages saying ‘do you remember when’ to each other.

A home day ahead. Need to catch up with some calls and generally have half a sense home things are up and together.

Hope the medication change works for you soop. A friend had great success with Tamoxifen. What’s up with the car urms? Hope easily fixed. A definite milestone granmarie. Positive news about your brother in law yiayia, I hope reliable support is in place. You OK maw? That accident could well have been me.

I’ll try to attach a photo from yesterday. The process seems a bit hit and miss sometimes.

Take care everyone.

riete Fri 15-Jul-22 03:44:17

nannytopsy, are you not going to offer any reward for that ironing? i'm just thinking of maybe possibly going against all my principles and beliefs, and offering. i used to hate ironing with a vengeance, and haven't done any for years, but somehow think it might be just the thing to do whilst having a gentle chat with a few new strangers. can you guarantee a slice of cake at least?

Blossoming Thu 14-Jul-22 23:16:31

Good evening dear Kitcheners. It has been cooler here today with a strong breeze. I hope the change in medication works for you soop. That sounds like positive news for your BiL YiaYia, I hope he and his family are getting all the support they need. Good news GranMarie after such a worrying time. NannyTopsy have your DH’s leg ulcers recovered? You may have already mentioned it, but my memory is shocking sometimes.
Wishing everyone a peaceful night. Thank you for past kindness and support.

Grandmabatty Thu 14-Jul-22 22:11:58

Urms buggerations. Car bother is so annoying. I really hope you get it sorted soon. Grannmarie that's good to hear. I really enjoyed that film. My energy level is somewhat depleted now. I'm off to bed soon. Good night kitcheners.

Grannmarie Thu 14-Jul-22 22:04:10

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people!?

Soop, I'm glad you are recovering from your fall, and I hope the new medication works well for you.
YiaYia, good to hear that your BiL is going home, that'll be so good for his spirits.
Brook, sounds like your DGS is having an amazing time at his cub camp, good weather for it!
Grandmabatty, please let me know when you are going to start bottling and selling that amazing energy of yours, I could certainly do with some.

My news today is that DH and I had our first evening out since his collapse five weeks ago. We went to see Top Gun Maverick and both of us managed to stay awake! It feels like a wee milestone.

Take care in the heat, all you Southern Grans.

TOYA, NNGB ? ?

Jaxjacky Thu 14-Jul-22 21:35:48

Mmmm, sorry Nannytopsy only under extreme pressure, like never, do I iron, MrJ irones his own stuff, very occasionally I sneak something in, mostly body heat removes any vague creases. That’s my theory anyway!

brook2704 Thu 14-Jul-22 21:23:39

Just googled that colour grandmabatty it looks really nice - definitely a good choice and perfect for a welcoming front door
Sorry can’t help with the ironing nannytopsy I’ll own up that with the exception of a very few items I don’t bother ironing anything ?‍♀️
Hope you can get your car problems sorted Urms without too much hassle or expense

annsixty Thu 14-Jul-22 21:20:14

Soop I took Tamoxifen for a few years but came off it for reasons I really can’t remember and then was put on Arimidex for about three and a half years .
I do know that that suited me better.
I hope you find it is good for you.

Nannytopsy Thu 14-Jul-22 21:09:27

Hello everyone. It’s warming up here in the kitchen now - it was very quiet earlier. WI cafe this morning, Crafternoon Tea this afternoon and a hint of ironing to finish. Plenty more ironing still to go if there are any volunteers? I have had a backlog for weeks now.
Have a good evening everyone.

Urmstongran Thu 14-Jul-22 21:03:35

‘Evening All’

The kitchen is very quiet. Maybe you’re all having a snooze in the heat or a rest from exertions?

We have car problems sadly. Not resolved yet. I rang my dear stepfather to explain we can’t pick him up to take him for his routine eye test tomorrow late morning as arranged. Bless him, he said he’s happy to get the bus. For his age he does so well. Fingers crossed for a resolution to the problem soon.

Grandmabatty Thu 14-Jul-22 21:00:46

Brook I'm painting it Frenchic Wise old sage! I'm hoping it rubs off. In other words, sage green. The undercoat is pure white to cover the dark red that was there.

Jaxjacky Thu 14-Jul-22 20:53:40

A quieter kitchen this evening.
soop fingers crossed on the Tamoxifen.
Good news Yia really hope the support needed will be forthcoming.
A more pleasant day here with lower temperatures and a pleasant breeze.
Off to watch the undeclared war.
Have a good evening all.
