A very Happy Birthday Annsixty hope you’ve had a lovely lunch.??????

Blossoming Tue 12-Jul-22 14:29:24

Haha Naughtyneine I just did something similar in
Morrisons! I needed more hayfever pills and their own brand are very good and very cheap. I had to walk past the freezers to get to the medicines.

Hope MrSoop’s appointment has gone well Soop.

Grannmarie Tue 12-Jul-22 14:04:37

Just popping in to wish Annsixty many happy returns of the day, and to say 'Good Luck' to MrSoop for his hospital appointment. I hope Soop is OK now after her fall.

I have a lot of catching up to do!

TOYA ? ?

Haha Naughtyneine ? you did make me me laugh with my mental image of you in Aldi.

I’m sat in my uncles flat visiting with him and he’s abandoned me to go and talk to his friends downstairs. Time I left I think. Lol

Speak soon.

Good afternoon lovely Kitchen folk....I blinked and missed yesterday almost... I'm not sure if it was post op, post covid or painting the shed (it's a really pretty colour called willow green) in blazing sun on Sunday that brought on sleep big time. I finally managed to drag myself to Aldi and wondered if anyone would notice if I climbed into one of the freezers. I spent an inordinately long time with my head bent over one of them carefully rearranging a pack of frozen peas until my face felt like it had melted a bit.!!! There was also an area blowing cold air from somewhere at ground level and I stood looking like I was pondering the merits of frozen tuna steaks versus calamari... It a only when someone walked by and gave me a really strange look that I decided my legs and nethers were chilled enough for me to do the rest of the shopping. I hope I'm allowed back in next time. I can't bear to turn the oven on so I've made a big fruit salad for you all to help yourself to... By the same token we are having watercress soup and crusty bread for dinner tonigh that's if I can prise myself out of this chair and put down my Gardeners World magazine. If anyone needs anything from Aldi I'll willingly go for you. ?

Hope you all sleep well tonight. I love hot weather. Around 30 degrees being ideal. However am struggling today. We have a shared garden but no water supply. The other sharer has a tap but keeps the hose indoors. All my plants have died and the grass is dead. Their grass is dead too as she isn’t a gardener. Neither am I but a little effort brings much colour and herbs.
Used to have a villa in Spain and loved a swim this time of night. The water would be warm, unlike lunch time when I was working anyway.

grannybuy Mon 11-Jul-22 23:03:19

I’m also a newcomer, but I think you’d all like my recently perfected shortbread.

MawtheMerrier Mon 11-Jul-22 22:40:49

Ooof!
Super hot in London! D kindly let me off nursery pick up to save me from the walk in the heat. After a bit of a rest we took the little boys to the square in front of Walthamstow Town Hall where they have jets of water spouting up out of the paving stones. Littlest ( 10 months ) loved it but his big brother was a bit more circumspect. I think he wants to go back tomorrow with his cousin when he might be braver!
The Dyson fan has come on its holidays with me too!

SueDonim Mon 11-Jul-22 22:28:51

My Dh is green with envy at your Mr Whippy, Jax. He loves them. His normal ‘source’ has changed the formula and they don’t taste the same now, so he’s very sad.

I’m another day on the road to recovery. No naps today or even lie downs. I do feel pretty tired, despite doing nothing, and had awful backache overnight but that seems to have cleared up now.

I’ve sorted the plans for seeing ds and family, thank goodness. They’re now in the UK, with my younger daughter, and even knowing that he’s on the same bit of land as me is ❤️.

Tomorrow there’s going to be a hospital meeting about my mum and how she can be returned to her home. She’s not accepting that some things will need to change. She cheerfully told me she can now walk along the corridor outside the hospital ward. I asked her if she can get in and out of bed on her on. No. ?‍♀️ I think there’s going to be a lot of changes needed, which I don’t feel like facing right now. I’m also annoyed that neither of my two brothers is offering any support but I mustn’t let that get to me.

LLFlover did you see my son at the airport? He was in Vienna, too. Work, he says. hmm grin

Soop good luck tomorrow, with your busy day for your dh’s bloods.

I hope everyone manages to sleep in the heat. We haven’t had it as hot as most of you, it’s mid-20’s here, but it’s not cooled down this evening so it might be a restless night for us. We’ll have a long exchange about window open/closed, no doubt, before bedtime. Window open = cooler air but also = rowdy seagulls waking us up all night. They never seem to sleep!

TOYA. XX

Blossoming Mon 11-Jul-22 22:22:09

Goodnight all, hope everyone has a good night’s sleep despite the heat.

Good luck with appointments and journeys tomorrow.

Blossoming Mon 11-Jul-22 22:03:43

I can help you with the testing Kitty!

We’ve just been eating fridge pickins for the last few days, it’s too hot to cook. My diet has gone well and truly haywire grin

ShazzaKanazza Mon 11-Jul-22 21:14:25

Good evening dear Kitcheners.
Welcome speclalk? I love raspberry jam. All you talented jam makers.

Ladyleftfieldlover hope you’ve arrived home ok.
Kitty when my uncle was in an assisted living facility a few years ago they had a room you could use for 15 pound a night if you were visiting a relative. We used it a particular time for two nights to spend time with uncle as it was in Northallerton. Bargain. DH joked he was going to book us in for a fortnights holiday.
Soop hope your DHs hospital appointment goes well x

Today we had DH from school he was hot and bothered. We put the sprinkler on for him to run under and had him sliding down his slide while we sprayed him with water he was so happy. We feel our job is just to make him happy and we achieved that today.

Another hot day for us all tomorrow phew? hope you can all sleep well tonight. Speak soon. X ?
