WELCOME. How pleased I am to be able to say...we have a new gathering place.

brook2704 Sun 31-Jul-22 20:30:16

Great result for the football and a very well done the Lionesses! I’m not usually a football fan but I just had to watch tonight ?

Blossoming Sun 31-Jul-22 19:25:31

That’s encouraging YiaYia, hope he continues to improve. Thanks for the tip Brook, I’ll try checking the pollen count on the weather channel. Mine seems to be tree pollen, it’s worse when it rains as the pollen is carried down.
I remember that advert LadyLL, I must be terribly old grin

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 31-Jul-22 18:38:09

I’ve ordered a print from the Royal Academy ‘You scream, I scream, we all scream for ice cream’. OH isn’t over keen so it will go in the kitchen or my bedroom.

brook2704 Sun 31-Jul-22 17:21:09

Just about to settle down and watch the football, let’s hope it’s a good result! ⚽️

My hayfever is quite bad this time of year if I’m outside in the garden blossoming* and soop. I think it’s the grass pollen that I’m mostly allergic too, my nose runs and my eyes sting. I usually look online for the pollen count each day as I only take the antihistamine if I need to as I’m sure they make me drowsy ?

Jaxjacky Sun 31-Jul-22 17:20:15

Thank you soop stunning flowers. Not much I can do in the garden, I need to weed the back bed, but the ground is so dry, as it’s perennials, watering has focused on the veg and annuals.
We had rain for about 2 minutes today, see pic, because I’d hung washing out, most we’ve had for about 5 weeks.
Caught up with Monty and Beechgrove, then a long chat with our friends in the New Forest. We’re off to watch cricket at the Ageas with them in a couple of weeks.
Reassuring chat for you both Yiayia technology is brilliant isn’t it.
Football is on, must be good, MrJ is shouting!
Enjoy your evening x

ShazzaKanazza Sun 31-Jul-22 17:18:31

Soop the pictures of your garden are wonderful

Yia so pleased you’ve seen you BIL to have a chat to on FaceTime

Blossoming those woodpeckers are beautiful such a fantastic picture.

Grandmabatty Sun 31-Jul-22 17:09:15

I hope the Lionesses win, although I'm not a football fan. JaxJacky I'm fully recovered and have done yesterday's housework today. I only have the ironing to do later. Blossoming I took me time, honestly.
Urms it's kind of you to say so. ? The boys are wee characters and I enjoy them very much. Shazza I enjoy spoiling my family. They are good to me. Soop I'm impressed with your activity! I need to walk more.
I've had a peaceful day pottering and feel more like myself. Chicken with lemon and honey for dinner. Have a good evening Kitcheners.

ShazzaKanazza Sun 31-Jul-22 17:05:35

Good evening lovely Kitcheners. We’ve just settled down to watch the Lionesses ?
Naughtyneine the man on the broomstick really tickled DH so I took a screenshot so he could send it to his friends.

We enjoyed cheering on DD and SIL this morning in a 10k in the pouring rain. Little Grandaughter and I walked around their village cheering them all on. There were 700 runners. The very last runner was 75 and he got a big cheer and applause from us both.
She asked us if we’d buy her a marble run for her 4th birthday in October. ‘Of course darling’ we said. She’s just too cute. ?
We have DGS from 8 am to 6pm tomorrow so a very busy day. Speak soon xx

Yiayia4 Sun 31-Jul-22 16:52:55

It’s very warm and muggy here just wish we would have a storm.
Guaranteed to make us laugh Naughtyneine well done.

We had a little chat with BIL on FaceTime this morning. He tires very easily but just like DH makes a joke of everything. It keeps him going that’s for sure. They seem to be getting help, and the family are near by so that’s a blessing.

Harper has just gone home and DH is collecting the family from the airport.Boris dog will be here in the morning for a 5 star stay.?
Take care all enjoy your evening.

Blossoming Sun 31-Jul-22 16:47:21

It’s a balmy 19° here today, and I am feeling really hot after my 45 minutes Soop. It was good, I feel stronger for making the effort. Those dogs look a little perturbed Neine?

I meant to share this picture of our local woodpeckers a week or so ago, but forgot. Daddy woodpecker feeding a very demanding adolescent!

Charleygirl5 Sun 31-Jul-22 16:31:29

I am hoping to see the fly past at 4.54 pm to be precise. I have never watched women's football in my life but today will be an exception. I do hope they win.

Like Maw's dog I have been resting my eyes- I only hope I sleep tonight.

soop has a little cat visited recently for a meal fit for a queen?

I rested my eyes sitting outside- not the most brilliant idea of my life.

dustyangel Sun 31-Jul-22 16:19:54

Sorry for rushing out so abruptly, I’d lost track of time and when DH turned the TV on, I thought that the match had started instead of all the chat before hand.

dustyangel Sun 31-Jul-22 15:53:37

soop I’m looking forward to watching the football match later on and I never, ever thought I’d say that!

I just popped in to say hello to you all and a very well done to Urms and Naughtyneine for getting back into driving. I stopped about 25 years ago and when we first came out here it would have been a great opportunity to start again as there were very few cars on the roads. The ones that were there drove like lunatics but there very few of them.
Now with glaucoma affecting me more and more, I know it would be stupid to even try. It’s one thing to not be able to see something in front of me in the kitchen cupboard but a completely different issue on a road. It would be so useful just at the moment though.

Got to go….

soop Sun 31-Jul-22 15:44:50

Hugs for Hellogirl from sunny Kintyre.

soop Sun 31-Jul-22 15:44:06

Naughtyneine Thank you for making me chuckle. grin

brook My nose has not ceased running for months on end. I hadn't considered hayfever until I read your post.

Urms I have noted that many people appear to have the most luxurious lashes. Maybe, if I was a whole lot younger, I would give them a try-out. I've a feeling, like you, that I would find them a mild irritation. I shall therefore save the £25 for something boringly useful.

Shazza Your evening with friends in Filey sounds lovely. Many years ago, I knew a couple who had a caravan in Filey. They enjoyed many getaway weekends in it. Their home was in Baildon.

Jax It will be a pootling Sunday for the Soops. I took a photo of the garden flowers to share with you.

soop Sun 31-Jul-22 15:26:17

Ladyleftfieldlover The bad lemon gets my vote.

Blossoming Right! I shall also pedal for 45 mins later this afternoon. It's all your fault. Thank you, anyway.

Maw I am not a football fan but at 5 o'clock I shall be rooting for the Lionesses in their bid to win the cup.

Grannygravy You are a trooper. flowers

Naughtyneine Sun 31-Jul-22 14:44:49

Oh and the other picture made me laugh too.

Naughtyneine Sun 31-Jul-22 14:44:03

Good afternoon my lovely fellow kitchener's... I'm glad that poorly people are improving/getting proper treatment/going home. So sad to hear of a young man passing away. It really is no age and I should think lots of us on here have children of the same age and can empathise at such a loss. Likewise lots of us will have grandchildren the same age as the little one murdered this week and that beautiful little boy murdered by the very person who was supposed to care for him as his Mother was deemed unsuitable. I take great comfort from my Catholic faith but in times like this when all I can do is pray for them and their loved ones I do struggle to understand...why.

This weekend we've been in Hampshire visiting the in laws. They needed a bank of very compacted earth removed and relocated to make the basis of a new path. I was armed with a pick axe and OH was shovelling and flattening. I had forgotten completely that this was on the agenda this weekend and had taken what my DOH refers to as my Daisy Dukes ( shorts to you and me) to wear in the garden and for the BBQ. I have long legs and the said Daisy Dukes are a bit short on material..I wasn't too sure why my FIL kept disappearing into his man cave until my MIL took the attached (I hope) picture. All I can say is my heart was in the right place even if my shorts weren't. !!!!

Blossoming Sun 31-Jul-22 13:36:08

Good afternoon dear Kitcheners. You have been busy bees over the last few days! I’m glad there’s better news from your goddaughter Cornergran, it must be such a relief. I hope you’re having a rest today Grandmabatty, you are always on the go. I’m very sleepy at the moment Brook and I’m wondering if it is the hayfever tablets, though they’re supposed to be non-drowsy. Like many of us I take so many other drugs. So maybe it’s a combination, I can’t stop taking any of them though! Does anyone else think the hayfever is much worse this year?

I’m off to do my physio, cycling and Gaelic now, will pop back later. Have a lovely Sunday all, I will try to keep up better…

brook2704 Sun 31-Jul-22 12:38:09

Just saying hi to all my friends in the kitchen, I’ve got a bit of catching up to do with all your news
I fully intended to be here yesterday but I nodded off in the evening as I felt really tired. I think it’s the after effects of looking after the DGC, they’re no trouble but they do wear you out as most of us know! Also as I’ve been out in the garden the last couple of days I’ve taken antihistamine for my hay fever which I think make me drowsy too .. that’s my excuse anyhow and nothing to do with the large glass of Sauvignon Blanc I had with my dinner ?

MawtheMerrier Sat 30-Jul-22 21:42:06

Strange day in a way. As someone who is the antithesis of sporty, why am I riveted by sport on TV? Even the swimming! And cycling -that was a very nasty accident at the velodrome wasn’t it?
If anybody watched any of the Mens’s Marathon, about 11 minutes into the race as they were doing their first “loop” of Cannon Hill Park, my eldest GS (12) could be seen running along beside the leader (on the other side of the barrier) for several minutes giving him a good run for his money. It was hilarious!
How dreadful for all of you in and around Boston, Hellogirl
I shall never understand the mentality of killers like that.
As I said a strange mix of a day, much sadness from Boston but also pride in Birmingham in our athletes (I have never heard Flower of Scotland so often in one day!) D1, SIL and the GC are loving being on the spot for it - as well as being at the Opening Ceremony on Thursday, they were at the marathon and the Gymnastics today
Wishing you all a peaceful night.

ShazzaKanazza Sat 30-Jul-22 21:29:20

Good evening dear Kitcheners. I’m late to the kitchen tonight we have just got back from our friends caravan in Filey. There were 8 of us. They did a huge bbq. We all sat in their awning chatting eating and drinking it was lovely. They were so conscious of not glutening me I even had my own little gas bbq with two sausage and two burgers on. So kind of them.

Hellogirl it’s terrible about the precious nine year old girl getting killed. I just can’t imagine how her friends and family are coping. Tragic. I was so cross last night that the Wagatha Christie rubbish took the main headline over that young girl.

Grandmabatty I’d love to come to yours and have you spoil me lol. What a grandma?

Ladyleftfieldlover the exhibition looks amazing. The lemon is fantastic I scrolled in to have a close look it’s fascinating.

I’ll speak to you tomorrow TOYA?

Urmstongran Sat 30-Jul-22 20:01:20

‘Evening All’.

How is everybody? We’ve just eaten. Pan fried (as they say nowadays) steak, onions and peppercorn sauce. Bluddy gorgeous.

I went to the salon this morning and had ‘Express Lashes’ put on. Not a strip. Individual lashes glued to the roots of my own. Never had them done before. Last about 2 weeks apparently. £25. Wish I hadn’t bothered (a) because they are so natural no-one has commented (b) they were an expensive treat as for £25 I could have bought an YSL or Tom Ford mascara at the airport duty free on Tuesday which would last me about 12 weeks and (c) they are ever so slightly uncomfortable. If I scrunch my eyes I can feel them - a bit prickly. Okay, I’ll stop doing that then.

I’m not sure how I’ll feel by bedtime!
Never mind. A one-off. Never to be repeated. By me, anyway!
?

Hellogirl1 Sat 30-Jul-22 19:33:14

You are correct Soop. The young man who`s pics were released by police this morning, was arrested near the park in the centre of town this afternoon. Thank goodness they`ve got him, but it doesn`t bring little Lillya back.
I`m dusting off my wand Soop, but like me, it`s very old, may not work!

Jaxjacky Sat 30-Jul-22 19:14:30

Looks like you’ve had a fab day llfl, very different art, as it should be.
Have the best time with your friends cornergran chat and laughter, we’ll deserved.
Hope your snooze has revived you Grandmabatty grandchildren are wonderful, a delight, but a tad energy sapping.
A pootling day today, watering, newspaper and a visit to the pub, we’ll search for something to watch on the TV.
Enjoy your evening all x
