What brings you contentment? ?

My own company is contentment because there has been so much trauma in my life solitute is comforting. I appreciate what I have, which isn't a lot, my health is reasonable, a little car to get me out and best of all my sweetest faithful cat of 14 years.

A 6.30 am walk in some local woods with my dog is bliss , just watching nature going about it’s business

I feel contentment when I’m finished with my “to do” list and
am able to relax in my comfortable little home. A good book, cup of tea, favourite TV shows and loving pets is all I need.

Having your grandson come over to interview you and your DH for a college class. Having him introduce his grandparents as a major influence in his life. I define that as contentment, as long as it's okay to cry while being contented.

A day on my own with no interruptions.

Sitting having a pre-dinner drink with my husband and sharing the details of our day.
Having a running away day with said husband decided on at very short notice.
Reading the weekend papers and then pottering in the garden.

My plants, indoor and outdoor. I do love my house plants, looking after them and just looking at them calms me. I feel a bond with them.

Being amongst family, with children running around playing and giggling (no screens for a change) or snuggled with grandchildren watching a Christmas classic ‘Home Alone’ etc and feeling calm, happy and contented …

A comfy chair, a good book and a cup of freshly brewed coffee. Contentment!

It's the simple things, such a perfect cup of tea, a well completed project or a very satisfying book which bring pleasure.

I have always been at my most content when I have cleaned through the house, filled the fridge/freezer/kitchen cupboards and have plenty of books to read. However, none of this is at all important unless my husband and family are there with me.

Granddaughters gummy smile when I pop my head around the door

It’s always the simple things like…
Sunny, warm days and sitting in the garden hearing birds singing
Hands clasping a mug of hot chocolate on a cold day
Walking along a beach and listening to the waves
Being with loved ones and sharing laughter and memories of good times (friends and family)
Walks with my dog
Reading a good book (with no interruptions!)
Getting into bed when the sheets have been freshly laundered

I could go on!! The above are in no particular order btw ?

Either being indoors or sitting in the summerhouse and not hearing any dogs barking, children shouting or thuds of footballs being kicked back and forth. I need earplugs me thinks to be content.

And listening to Radio 4 or Classic FM all day.
Church.

The simplest things bring me contentment;

My tiny container garden.
A flower about to open.
My home and my favourite things, books, paintings (also tiny) around me.
A phone call with my son or other relative. Friends too.
Sunshine and sitting on my bench in it.
A good book and tea in my favourite cup or mug.
A nice coffee.

Knitting
Wind rustling the trees
The sea
Garden flowers
Listening to Radio 3 whilst baking or cooking
Doing daily puzzles in The Times
Buying presents
Playing music or singing in a choir with others
Meeting friends
Paddling
Reading….

My son popping in unexpectedly
for a cup of tea and a chat.

Realising l have enough, it brings contentment.

Our beautiful grandchildren are such a joy as long as they are happy and healthy this fills me with contentment.. The simple things in life like pottering in our garden picking my home grown fruits and veg.
Sitting in the sun house with DH and our dog it’s so peaceful listening to the birds.
If our friends call around we sit and have a drink and chat catching up on family news.

I agree with other posters that the simple things in life bring contentment. For me, the list would include walking with my dog, doing the daily Wordle puzzle, reading, watching a good drama or film, listening to soothing music, birdsong, tea and cake, a visit to the library, browsing in a bookshop, having a clean and tidy house…

Watching the sheer joy on Foster Sons face when he is playing cricket.

Curling up on the sofa with DH.

Getting all the ironing done.

A day spent sewing, successfully.

A few hours sat on a beach reading a book. A rare occurrence these days.

Watching our AC and GCn gather at our house and all getting along so well.

Knowing that my 4 adult DC are all doing OK atm. They have all had so many problems over the last few years due to covid. Bankruptcy, serious health problems, mobility issues, redundancy etc but now all sorted, employed etc.
My 2 dogs as I know they will bark incessantly if anyone tried to break in at night.
Having savings now so I feel more financially secure than in previous times.
Living on the coast in our lovely home and AC all now have their own home.
Knowing that when the AC and DGC visit and stay they are getting a nice holiday here that's not costing them money.
That I've now bought another car so I can go out without OH. I'm independent again.

Finding a new walk in beautiful countryside and not in my immediate neighbourhood. Bliss!
Oh, and family get-togethers - love them.
