No, not a new light BBC detective drama starring him from Midsomer Murders and her from something else that may have had Martin Clunes in it.

This is a virtual trip for Grans cruising along the Cote D’Azur on the luxury yacht Aresteas. We began in Marseille en route to Monte Carlo and are currently in Cannes.

All welcome. Bring swimsuits, sun cream and sparking Champagne.

This is a spillover thread with a title change to describe our current course. As on the old thread, we ask that people chat about the things they plan, encounter and explore along the route rather than post links.

That’s no way to talk about the crew

Joseanne Thu 30-Jun-22 07:18:42

Great.
Do you think one of those hairy cucumbers would taste nice chopped up in the salade? ?

CaravanSerai Thu 30-Jun-22 00:58:19

Honestly, you go out for a quiet night of casino blackjack but someone always has to make a show of themselves. Maw turns up on Clooney’s arm wearing her Swanky Modes Amorphous Dress followed by a mob of paparazzi. Not only is she now splashed all over the front of Le Monde but she’s been whisked off by private jet to London to be photographed for Vogue's Esme Young retrospective. Form an orderly queue please to take care of a crestfallen George while she’s away.

Not for vertigo sufferers, breakfast at the Château Èza before exploring the village, described as one of the most beautiful in Alpes-Maritimes, and the exotic gardens. Joseanne will supply Band Aids and antihistamines for close encounters of the prickly kind. And maybe a salade nicoise.

Done!

May I make a suggestion, GSM, in the interests of ongoing friendship?
Liberally splash that fragrance? you made at the Pong Factory around your cabin.
What with that and the overriding waft of Brute emanating, your secret will be well disguised safe with me.

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 29-Jun-22 20:47:07

Shhh ixion. My reputation, such as it is, will be shot to pieces. Willing to cut a deal in return for your silence. ?

CaravanSerai Wed 29-Jun-22 20:43:31

Thank you Urms Not just me then.

ixion Wed 29-Jun-22 20:38:30

Urmstongran

I ❤️ Jack Black too! Ever since ‘ShallowHal’ (2001).
And ‘School of Rock’ (2003) has to be one of the greatest feel good films ever.

Blimey.
I shall say no more.
My lips are sealed and I bet you're all pleased to hear that

ixion Wed 29-Jun-22 20:36:40

Nespresso and Gauloises...
Just how many have you got in there, GSM??

Urmstongran Wed 29-Jun-22 20:28:54

All that but I was expecting you to say What Else? Wasn't that the line or was that just the ad with George and Jack Black? Now there's a man I like. Yes, I know. I've had a thing for him since High Fidelity. Funny man.

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 29-Jun-22 20:01:28

I have been found out!!! Such fond memories of George. I wonder if he’s missing me. ? Probably not, knowing Maw as I do.?

CaravanSerai Wed 29-Jun-22 19:48:02

You seem to have a second wind GSM Is that the aroma of Nespresso coming from your cabin?

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 29-Jun-22 19:20:59

The dark haired men are very enticing. I would be happy to be guided by them as regards the menu … ?

CaravanSerai Wed 29-Jun-22 17:54:39

Crossed posts Joseanne but thinking alike. I was going to suggest a whole day trip to Eze tomorrow as the village looks lovely too. Happy to do both one way round or another.

Joseanne Wed 29-Jun-22 17:50:07

Ha ha. X post

CaravanSerai Wed 29-Jun-22 17:49:41

Have you had time to recover GSM because if so I was going to suggest we go the Royal Riviera in Cap Ferrat for dinner and then onto the Casino de Beaulieu for a night on the tables.

The dark haired men are the executive team at the hotel restaurant - nothing whatsover to do with this suggestion.

Joseanne Wed 29-Jun-22 17:49:12

I fancy an evening up in Eze in the hills.
There's an erotic exotic garden we can visit. Don't worry about the prickly plants, ? I'm sharp enough to have packed some anti histamines for allergic reactions.
Have we had a salad nicoise in Nice? Can't remember.

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 29-Jun-22 16:40:04

Gosh (to put it politely), I’m (not so politely) knackered. I left Maw there with both of them, having the time of her life. I don’t think she wants to be rescued. I managed to scale the gates to escape - all too much for a blushing maiden such as myself. Must have a nap before dinner - are we eating in? Is that lobster still going spare??

ixion Wed 29-Jun-22 09:12:21

protected by a silver spoon?

CaravanSerai Wed 29-Jun-22 09:04:28

Message flagged shore-to-ship from our girls that the electricity is out at Maison Rothschild so the security gates are locked tight. No-one can get in or out.

Something to do with two Hollywood A listers overloading the system with coffee machines. I don't believe a word of it.

Where's Caine when you need him to blow the bloody doors off?

Plan B is for ixion to get in by stealth, climbing through the shrubbery, up a stucco wall and through a bathroom window. She doesn't seem keen, says it will ruin her nails.

Joseanne Wed 29-Jun-22 09:01:08

Forget the lobster. This place serves truffle pizza 44 euros.
Or in the absence of GSM's dog, I could arrange for my own pup to be flown in to sniff out magic mushrooms. ??

Urmstongran Wed 29-Jun-22 08:40:11

I’m loving this thread! Trust Maw and GSM to have copped off. Lucky buggers! Yes, let’s gate crash later.

ixion Wed 29-Jun-22 08:28:00

Is it link-detached, as Estate Agents like to put it?
Or does everything pink come as a job lot?

If the latter, it would be very appealing to have a 'his and hers' residence when necessary.
(Should that be a 'Jack and Jill' option?).

Off to paint my toenails.
Hope it's not choppy for a delicate job.
Don't tell me, everyone else gets the professional in...

CaravanSerai Wed 29-Jun-22 07:54:06

That's exactly how the oligarch being forced to sell it now got his money in in the first place. Salt-water laundering.
